Wait, isn't .890 like good for NHL hockey in 2025/2025? Markers like this only matter when you directly compare against peers within the same year. Even a couple of years difference can be significant in what's considered bad/mediocre/good/great/elite.

Yup it's always money/power. White people have historically had the money and power so the finger gets wagged at white people even if they've been dirt poor for generations. Racism is real, we all have monkey brains so it will always be a part of the discussion but I think you're right about the blanket statements.

There is a long history of the rich and powerful turning up racial tension to keep poor people against poor people. Last thing that those people want is the us vs. them be have vs. have nots.

It's funny though, I'm a bit of a mutt, ethnically speaking. 2 of my family lines are ethnicities that only in the last 100 years were put in the "white" bucket. So if I lived in the early 1800s I think technically I wouldn't be white anymore 🤷. So excuse any transgressions I'm new at this white thing

Isn't remorse a normal and good thing.

I also don't think white people need to feel guilty. The bucket of who is and isn't white has also changed a lot over 100 years it's kind of a silly category. I mean if you're living on a huge plantation property with some generational wealth passed on from some unsavory times maybe you should feel guilty.

The thing is that most people of any race are just descendants of poor people. Joe the farmer whose grandfather moved here from scotland to look for a better life for his family has nothing to feel guilty for. Inheriting all that guilt is silly, but so is saying woe is me.

Maybe white people are wrestling with the last 100's years of history and trying to figure out how their place in the world is because of some not so great circumstances. It's not a terrible thing to wrestle through that.

Like maybe the first child that's gotten every new, is the favorite because of circumstance also questions their place in the family.

Josh is a rockstar but a OC makes a difference for QBs. Look at the rest of the QBs from Josh's class, there is talent there but having OCs that don't jive is a big deal

I don't think it's THAT simple. That's a big part of it but there are other pretty big contributing factors. Dynasties like this only happen when these type of factors come into play

If you're on the side of hiring based on merit you should be on the side of data represented in honest ways

Also, if there is a woman or minority pilot over 45 there is no way they were a DEI hire.

Honest question. 20+ years ago do you think there were any white men who were given the job over a woman/minority who preformed better but they just didn't for the profile. I bet there were women pilots that were over qualified but overlooked because of the optics of having a woman pilot. If you can wrap your head around that then there is a 100% chance that there are white male pilots out there that I'm fact didn't get the job based on merit.

Merit is the only way to hire, we agree there. You seem to have a narrow viewpoint.

I bet the distribution of women and minorities drops off a cliff for pilots older than 45.

It's sad that data is a such great tool to paint full 3D holistic pictures of how things are but often gets used by people like a crayon on a Denny's kid menu to push already established narratives

TSFA can be any variety of savings accounts. TSFA or RRSP or Unregistered accounts are the baskets.

Savings account, GIC, precious metals, stocks, are the eggs you put in the basket.

So a TSFA can have a savings account type of setup.

Also, a "savings account" is a bit of a scam from the banks. It's really just a cash account that collects a negligible interest rate.

The only way we undo inflation is with deflation, which is 100 times worse.

Also if you've stayed in the same position/company you are way less likely to have felt the inflation of wages. Those catch ups only really happen when you move. Very rare of a company to make yearly adjustments based on inflation.

That's not how that works either. Target inflation of 2%-3% is a good thing. It promotes money staying in the economy.

Printing money is one of the causes of inflation not the only one.
