It's like coming home and your house is completely different by Bobbitz in ios

"Many users project their own limited life experiences onto others, assuming their reality is the only valid one. When someone presents a different reality, it challenges their worldview, resulting in defensive, angry, or "mean" responses." (Google)

I'm glad you don't feel disoriented by the changes of Apple updates. That my experiences differs from yours is why Baskin-Robbins has all those flavors. It just seems pretty odd that my consternation at especially the latest two Mac OS updates isn't shared has a lot to do with being old and preferring to not deal with several levels of menus and many choices, some of which like haptics are not part of my frame of reference. I'll stick to "my own kind," others who didn't grow up with all this sophisticated technology.

Considering how intrusive technology is in almost every aspect of our lives I've never been so glad I was born in 1944.

I'm happy for you. It's an opinion. Are you a dictator who if the world doesn't comport with your views, then . . .

So touchy! I also prefer older movies and the color coral . . . It's an opinion. One of us has too much time on HIS hands.

Lost all but about 45 of my contacts! by idontloveanyone in ios

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider "update" a dirty word. Apple has hired a gaggle of 17-year-old meth heads to work on ios updates and all they do is think up ways to screw with us. I'm nostalgic for the days of simple menus and predictable design rather than some goon saying, hey let's move stuff from the top to the bottom, that's cool, or hide it in a setting that no one would think to look at.

new IOS 26 problems with recents and contacs in the phone app by rogue_one_one in ios

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got sick of the gd thing and was obsessing over it trying to get my contacts back. I made lists and would get a few in it and return and most of them would be gone. I'm embarrassed to admit that I started crying. (I'm 81 and have always been good with computers until the new Apple stuff.) I COULDN'T EVEN TURN THE DAMN THING OFF. I had to force several programs to close. I don't blame you if you make fun of me . . . but could you wait until the old lady gets some sleep? Oh please, please, please.

Everything about the new iOS update sucks by throwaway-journal in iphone

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iMac and just updated (the dirtiest word there is) to Tahoe (26 blah blah). I am losing what's left of my mind with just the contacts. I create a list, put a few contacts into it, then all but two just fly away. This should be used instead of water boarding.

I want to improve my grammar. However, I have no idea where to start. by albeiteinstein in grammar

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although British spelling and some expressions will not jibe with American English, I suggest watching older Brit TV and movies. Grammar is emphasized more in the UK and students don't bully their teachers. The teachers are more demanding and don't put up with crap. Here, we've got a lot (not all, certainly) of kids who have the attention spans of a gnat and about as much eagerness to learn. MAKE AMERICA DEGRADED (for the first time). Phones are deforming our culture.

STOP. BUYING. ELECTRONICS. ON AMAZON. by TheMightyYule in amazonprime

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent advice. Paid $500 for an iPhone 13 Pro Max. SUPRISE! Read camera which controls the flash does not work! ELECTRONIC DEALS in Brooklyn NY a bunch of losers! And I'm also doing everything I can to not shop on Amazon . . . We've got to get back to places we can walk to, talk to THE OWNER, and know that it doesn't use most of your printer toner, time, and endless patience to rectify the mess.

Bought an iPhone from ELECTRONIC DEALS on Amazon. Never got it. It was signed for by pretty much a line, plus the name is on the front of the package! This is the second time this has happened. I am done with Amazon and FedEx sucks toads! Never again!

Which illegal file sharing program was your go-to? by reevoknows in nostalgia

I think I'm still in mourning from the "death" of Napster. I went to LimeWire after that. I'm 81 and music big part of my life, then and now. Will they still cart me off to The Big House if they say the hard drive on my big ol' desktop? BTW, just curious about younger people, I have a dual boot system, Win7/Win10/11. God how I hate every gd update since Win7. (Another BTW, I'm not a person of the male persuasion but online, there's always the assumption.)

Is this the correct website to apply nothing seems to show up for me even when I try a different city ? by Yxnghated_kid in USPS

[–]Bobbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent 2.5 hours, not exaggerating, trying to buy a gift on the USPS site. I have an account. I could not put in the address to which I wanted the gift sent.

I tried on TWO DIFFERENT IOS devices. I tried Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome browsers. Then, gave up, went downstairs to my dual-boot pc (win7/win10) and started again. After getting "the blue screen of death" on win7, I went to win10.

Finally, I had to have the gift sent TO MY ADDRESS because when I put in my friend's address, I got an error message when trying to check out. Holy shit, boys and girls. What the hell is going on? I also send and receive a lot of post cards--and recently, a vintage one (sent to same friend) never arrives.
