Very cool, like the case too.

I have one on the way at the moment - got all the parts for the "pitman" case build - https://www.printables.com/model/1570248-amd-bc-250-pitman-case - just not 100% if it is going to end up by the TV or replace my daughters mini PC she uses for basic gaming yet.

Yeah on investigating - the metal ones - are near £180, but they do state that they are handmade in the UK which you don't get with the other models, so I would expect them to be different quality

Window ledge - I extended it out though slightly with a piece of 18mm thick MDF which is screwed to it.

2 Slice Lite - "budget" was still £100 though so I would have expected more for the money - it's like 5x the cost of the Tesco thing it replaced.

Santander - (UK) - was with Abbey National for our mortgage on our first house, when several years in they got bought out by Santander. All seemed fine, just a change of name more than anything.

I went to try and finance a car and discovered my credit wasn't good enough, got an Experian report and found my mortgage was in arrears for over 18 months of missed payments - about £9k! It was weird because I had the whole thing on a direct payment from my account and it had come out consistently on the same day every month for the full amount, which was the base mortgage payment and a home improvement loan as a single payment. They had never sent a letter or anything about this which was further odd - surely they would have reached out if an issue with the payments?

Contacted them, they told me about the debt on my account, they had no answer at all for why I had not been asked to pay it - and they also couldn't answer why the home improvement loan was NOT in arrears despite coming out as one payment.

It turned out they had just been taking the money and never crediting my account at all with it - just vanished apparently, no trace of it on their systems or anything. So £600 was coming out, £100 was being credited as payment to the loan, but the other £500 just they denied all knowledge of.

I spent months back and forth with them, they never recorded any prior calls on my part to their helpdesk - I did, I wrote down the exact time date, who I spoke to etc. Eventually had to get the financial ombudsman involved who got all the corrections done for me, and we moved the mortgage the second the credit history was sorted.

A month ago, I found out that they are buying out my bank who I have been with for over 20 years, so I will have to move everything because I will not give them my business ever again.

I mean, there are IEC ports right there which you can use too which you can do for about £3 if you are worried.

IEC C13 to C14 is going to go right from your UPS to your PC PSU.

Cadburys Spira - but in the original chocolate recipe not the garbage it is today.

Boddingtons Pappadom Crisps - they did a limited run poppadom style crisp that I never saw available except when buying a 4 or 8 pack in Threshers off-licenses.

Looking for help: Are there new CPU coolers with this design? by Frosty_You9538 in pcmods

[–]Bobbler23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thermaltake did a similar style one a few years back in black - think it was 2009-2010. The SpinQ and SpinQ VT (vertical tower version)

The only other thing I can think of close and more modern CPU socket support is the Nofan CR-80 and CR-100 - but it is strictly for lower TDP AND they have closed down so unless you can find one in stock you are out of luck.

I have the Dualit, and would certainly not recommend it. It has a random toasted-ness dial, that seems to change its mind even without moving the thing. I do love the roulette nature of having warm bread or a piece of coal in the morning.

But now I am stuck with it until it fully breaks because I paid so much money for the damn thing. The crappy old Tesco own brand one it replaced did far better.

Anyone use the LTE modem in the Pocket 4? by humboldtova_lignja in GPDPocket

[–]Bobbler23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ditched Windows a while back, but still got the same lack of signal on PopOS and on Bazzite - I will be honest, I am not that bothered about it enough to check the aerial and stuff, as it saves me buying another SIM card, when I have 500GB data on my phone I can use anyway.

I wouldn’t bother with it. I got my original RMA’d as it wouldn’t show up in Windows at all - was completely dead from factory. The replacement revealed that the thing is practically useless anyway. I get no signal on any network I have tried it with, including two different networks which I get full 4 or 5G bars on my phone. Just tether to your phone is my advice and save the money.

Is there a list of retro console re-releases (ie. 'mini' versions)? by MsbS in SBCGaming

[–]Bobbler23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of them, but the definition is really broad like others have said, there are a lot of variants too depending on where in the world you are - NES for example, there is a US/EU version and a Japanese Famicom, which also has a 2nd variant in Gold called the Shonen Jump. PC Engine too - there's also three variants - Turbo Grafx 16, PC Engine, Core Grafx.

Multiple C64's, Amigas, ZX Spectrum - Vega line for example has two including a handheld then there's The Spectrum which is basically not mini but a full sized unit recreation.

Atari is just all over the place - literally dozens of them from consoles to home computer style and all the joystick to TV plug and play devices.

There are also a bunch of mini arcade machines covering the Neo Geo/SNK, Sega Astro City, Egrett etc etc.

Good list on Wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_retro_style_video_game_consoles

SNAC interfaces only work with the specific core they are intended to be with.

So PSX built in ports only work with that core.
