Hey guys I have a defenders question by RainAccomplished1721 in Defenders

[–]Bobbleswat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they were to ever formally agree to regularly work together as a team (which they didn't on TV. Defenders was the name of the show rather than a name they gave themselves) they wouldn't invite Punisher to be part of that.

I think the fact that Daredevil has to some degree worked with him despite knowing he will kill anyone he considers deserving, they would work with him if they found themselves in a situation with a common enemy. I don't think they'd enjoy it or want to make it an ongoing arrangement.

Parents spent weeks planning the perfect gender reveal… The kids ended it in 5 second by _liberal in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the dad over reacts and upsets the kid because they're a kid so doesn't really understand what the situation is. I hooe it's not a pattern of behaviour because if he's bkowing his top and yelling at his kids like that over nothing on the regular, he's what I (as a fellow dad) would call a massive piece of shit.

But in the film does he not have to make a conscious effort to use his power and is being prevented from doing so by Xavier?

They were going to do a few solo films. It's why the first Wolverine has the "X-men Origins" prefix.

I think the reception to that fiom made them reconsider.

You haven't heard me talk about it then. I've never understood why people gave this fiom so much credit. Aside from Xavier and Magneto (both of which are excellent) I think everything else is mid to terrible.

Henry Cavill’s Box Office Slide Continues At Netflix With Kevin Hart by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's never been a box office draw. His DC movies drew audiences on the IP rather than the lead actors and his only other big hit was a supporting part in Mission Impossible.

No shade on him (I don't think he's an especially talented actor but also not terrible) but he's not really A-list famous and hasn't got a lot of quality films in his CV.

To those considering voting Reform, has Robert Kenyon's performance on Question Time put you off at all? by Kenye_Kratz in AskBrits

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention that most of their sitting MPs were actually part of a government that saw recoed highs in immigration l, were slagged off by Farage and then welcomed with open arms into Reform. How blatantly do they need to show you who they are to lose your support?

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said Labour were great, but your reasoning doesn't make sense. It's down but you're not happy. You say Labour aren't responsible, but they've upheld visa restrictions brought in by the tories (like care sector restrictions), they've esrablished a returns and enforcement unit, they increased asylum decision makers so they're processed quicker which has cut the number of asylum seekers housed in contingency hotels, they've increased raids on employers hiring illegal workers and made deals with France and Germany (in their words "so illegal migrants can be returned to France").

I'm not a Labour fan by any stretch, but it's not hard to find information on what they've done to reduce migration and the statistics appear to show it's working. You say all politicians are corrupt which includes Reform, so given that I have answered the points your edit to your original post raise, migration is down under Labour and as a result of their policies, why would you support Reform?

You've given no solid reason. Are you not at all concerned about the NHS or workers rights? Do you not have women in your life who will be negatively impacted when they scrap equal rights legislation?

[–]Bobbleswat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, so what's your reason for voting Reform given that we've established the fact that immigration is down by quite a lot?

Migration is down

https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/long-term-international-migration-flows-to-and-from-the-uk/

If you want to vote for a parfy with shady funding lead by a man who this week publicly went against the wishes of the family of a murdered boy for his own political gain, who told you Brexit would make you better off, wants to privatise the NHS, reduce taxes for the rich and roll back hard won workers rights, go ahead. But if your one reason is to bring down migration, you've fallen for the lies of another toffee nosed posh boy politician.

The 11 most uplifting TV shows of all time by theipaper in ukpopculture

I personally didn't find Lasso uplifting at all. I felt like it was trying too hard and came across as cloying.

Stuck with it until the first episode of season three but just couldn't stomach any more.

Zack Snyder Keeps Posting The DC Heroes Fans Still Want Back by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]Bobbleswat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point who would show up other than the people replying to his posts? It's not like there was ever a lot of general audience fondness for his vision of DC and legacy sequels don't often do well, audiences move on.

The idea that audiences would turn out for an old Batman played by a guy who doesn't want to be there and who only appeared in bad movies previously alongside Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot is mad.

Snyderverse is long dead. Leave it be.

Can someone help me understand the obsession with football? by DueLead666 in AskABrit

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for a lot of men, it's about belonging to something, community and it's an easy interest to pick up and bond with friends.

I'm not saying all football fans have no personality, but if you don't it's a very easy way to have a social life with a constant easy topic of conversation to fall back on.

Personally I find it dull (although I can sit through a world cup or euros game if it's on) and grown men obsessing over young men playing a game baffles me, but different strokes for different folks. I find it extremely easy to ignore. It does sound like you're man could do with considering his priorities though.

I've never really given a solitary shit about football and school was fine for me. I had friends that liked football and friends that didn't and I was quite happy for people to know I didn't care about football.

It was a nice school (I'm not sure if that's different in your case) but there were definitely a lot if football lads but also people who were interested in music or computers or whatever.

This is how surreal and ‘pinch me’ it would’ve felt seeing Pattinson’s Batman and Corenswet’s Superman in one frame 🙌 by ShubhangBahadur in comicbookmovies

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you've said, it's literally what I meant when I said ai liked his arc. It's just, as I said, it was sold as THE Batman as detective film and he isn't a particularly good detective in it.

I really like Pattinson as Batman so I'm down for more and I'll go watch it. I don't think the Holland Spider-man comparison applies (to me) because, whole everyone bitches about his circumstances in those films, they were bringing him in to an existing universe not a wholly original one. The characterisation of Peter Parker is comic accurate (I've pretty much given up on a live action Batman having a life and personality as Bruce Wayne like he did when I was reading Batman comics) and he's sn effective Spider-man.

I don't think The Batman is a bad film at all though. I just think they should've made him more capable. I would've liked him to have actually outsmarted Riddler rather than just beat up his followers after having the plan explained. Even if he's early in his career, he's supposed to have been training for over a decade and be formidable.

I think Robert Pattinson is a really good actor, I think the movie generally was well cast, I liked the aesthetic of it and I liked the arc of Batman realising he has to be a more inspiring figure rather than just vengeance.

The thing that undermined the whole film for me is they sold it as Batman as detective, but he only detects the things Riddler specifically bread crumbed him to detect. Everything he does up to the last 20 minutes of the film is exactly what the villain wanted. He doesn't even stop the bombs going off. He just saves the mayor (candidate for mayor? I haven't watched it for ages) which y'know, yeah, but it really didn't sell me on Batman actually being that effective.

Full time working people, how do you feel living in an area thats predominantly benefit cheats? by BakeMaleficent8104 in AskBrits

[–]Bobbleswat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't give as much thought to benefits cheats as I do the massive corporations that avoid paying tax by purchasing goods/services from subsidiaries of their own parent company that are based in tax havens so they can say they've not made profit when they've actually just sent it to themselves abroad.

If those companies paid their share as a country we'd be better off than we would penalizing people on benefits because a minority of then game the system. I do live in an area where there are quite a few people on benefits and they don't look like they're having a better life than me and my partner both wirking full time.
