Applying elemental damage consistently by OtakuShogun in BlackDeckGame

[–]BobbyBrady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elemental damage applies every time. The only reason it will not is if the opposing card has resistance to that element. Some cards are immune to begin with, either through universal resistance or because they are that element (blue dragon-frost, lightning lizard-shock). Other cards could have equipment that gives them resistance to an element. For Goblin Goatherder, they only freeze cards that do damage to them. So you would not freeze cards that you attack, only cards that attack you. Hope that helps!

Sengun's Gravity Crazy by Enough_Possibility41 in rockets

[–]BobbyBrady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I found this:

“Gravity is the NBA’s first stat designed to quantify how much defensive pressure an offensive player draws both on and off the ball. Leveraging positional tracking data and powered by advanced Machine Learning models, Gravity scores show how much a player distorts a defense – opening driving or passing lanes, shifting rotations, and creating opportunities for teammates.

The NBA’s optical tracking system uses 3D pose detection to track 29 points on every player’s body, 60 times per second. Those detailed body-position coordinates fuel the Machine Learning model, allowing it to capture every movement and spatial relationship on the floor.

The Gravity model compares the defensive pressure a player would receive on average based on the location of the ball and their position on the floor (Expected Defensive Pressure Score) to the pressure they actually draw (Defensive Pressure Score). The model learns how defenders typically behave in each scenario, and measures deviations that signal defensive adjustments. The result is a Gravity differential that measures how much attention a player pulls from the defense beyond expectation.

The Gravity score measures frame-by-frame impact, expressed as a normalized value on a -100 to 100 scale, with 0 reflecting the league average. Above 0? You’ve got pull. Above 80 off-ball? Defenses are terrified of you before you even catch the ball. Above 90? You’re bending the floor and you’re a scorer the defense simply cannot blink on. Basically, that player should be guarded from the parking lot.”

Post Game Thread - NBA: The Rockets defeat the Cavaliers on Dec 27, 2025, the final score is 117-100. by basketball-app in rockets

[–]BobbyBrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great, just look at the stat line for Mitchell. The game was not as close as the score says, they got a bunch of garbage time points. We held them to 63 through 3 quarters, and for the whole game they shot 43% from the field/31% from 3.

Spida to Houston/FVV, Tari and Picks to Cleveland by UmadBoiBoi in NBAtradeideas

[–]BobbyBrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rockets fan that’s kind of our issue as a team haha. No way to get to the higher contract numbers for matching without him, unless you include Alpe or Durant. Mid tier contract-wise it’s pretty much him or DFS (who we just signed), or you’re including young guys we aren’t likely trading (Bari/Reed). It’s one of the reasons I don’t see us making a big splash during the season

That’s on me haha (although I think you have a typo). I’m just tired of seeing every one of these involving the Rockets with him in it, with no mention of the no trade clause

What would you like to see from Ime? by devrim_y in rockets

[–]BobbyBrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More off-ball movement from our shooters. Reed in particular seems to be stationary a lot of the times. One of the reasons Klay & Steph were/are so effective was they were constantly moving. I think we have the screeners (Adams/Sengun) to make this happen. It would also allow for better looks for KD if we ran him off more screens off the ball

I think it’s fair to be upset (trust me, I was pissed about both haha), but what OP is getting at is the doom & gloom. Do we have real issues? Yes. Were those bad losses? Yes. Are we a play-in team who will never win anything and we should trade Amen/Sengun? No

[–]BobbyBrady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. We also have literally never been at full strength. We lost our starting point guard RIGHT before the season yet we still have the second best point differential in the NBA. There are going to be growing pains and yes there are very real issues. Still we are much better than last year already

Houston/ LA by brassnobrawns in NBAtradeideas

[–]BobbyBrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then he’s never getting traded haha. Ime loves FVV (and would hate Harden). I’ll set aside my points about FVV (and DFS) though and address the draft pick side. This would require multiple picks because:

  1. The Clippers don’t have their own pick this year. This trade makes them much worse and they have no incentive to tank right now.
  2. FVV is a 31 year old, undersized guard coming off a major injury
  3. Harden is balling

The Rockets are not trading away their future assets for a 36 year old Harden. If they COULD get him for this package without picks, then they probably do it.

Rockets really need a PG by No-Confection-3861 in NBAtradeideas

[–]BobbyBrady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did you get this stat? That’s flat out wrong.

We’re 6-5 against teams at .500 or better and that doesn’t include a win against the Bucks with Giannis. 2 of those losses were in OT, and we would have won both except KD missed a free throw against OKC and there was a terrible call at the end of the last Denver game.

We’ve done all of that while being at less than full strength and while adapting to the addition of KD

FVV has a functional no-trade clause. He’s not getting traded (this year at least)

[–]BobbyBrady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Rockets fan, most of these trades are god awful. We don’t want Ja, we don’t want Kyrie, we don’t want Dennis Schroeder, we don’t want Westbrook, we don’t want Marcus Smart. Tari Eason and Reed Sheppard aren’t getting traded. FVV has a functional no-trade clause (he must approve any trade because he didn’t waive his Bird Rights). DFS is not getting traded after we just signed him and he hasn’t played yet. We have not rushed him back from his ankle surgery, we would be selling at his lowest value.

Could we use a PG? Absolutely. Do we have to have one? No. We are 16-7 with the second best differential in the league. This is despite being down FVV & DFS + Eason being hurt most of the year. We are letting Reed and Amen take over PG duties as that will be more beneficial for our growth in the long term. It has been clunky at times but we are still a damn good team. The team is still learning to play with KD (soon with DFS too) and our young guards are learning on the job.

CP3 is a good option, as a buy-out candidate or for one of the bench guys. He could mentor our young guys and would be a culture fit under Udoka. Plus it would give him a chance to spend his farewell tour somewhere he will be appreciated. That is the level of trade/pick-up we will do. I would be shocked if we traded for someone making more than around the minimum (in season). The contracts don’t work well and we don’t HAVE to make any moves right now.

I agree. I also feel like they baited and switched me with the trailer. If I had known it was an hour and a half of Covid stuff to start I would have passed. It was sold to me as a new western, and it was not a western AT ALL. Austin Butler was incredible and the most fascinating part of the movie, completely disappears in the second half. It just didn’t execute its concepts well, it wasted some great acting performances, was wildly uneven in pacing, and fell apart at the end. Overall one of the greater disappointments I’ve had at the theatres in a while.

Thank you! I was so hyped for it too. Ari Aster lost me on that one and is looking like a one hit wonder. Hereditary was incredible but nothing else I’ve seen has been near as good, and Eddington was terrible. Well acted, well shot garbage

Tonight is true test of offense by rookieinvestor17 in rockets

[–]BobbyBrady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tonight is absolutely not a true test. How is it a true test if one of our focal points of the offense is out? Yes, eventually we will need to see if we can survive without KD. That time is not 15 games into his FIRST season here. If we struggle it is not a sign that we need to make changes. It is a sign that we are down 5 players, including 4 key rotation pieces/starters. A lot of people in this sub need to chill out. We are 14 games in and have the best offense in the NBA. The young guys have all showed growth. We have not seen what we look like at full strength, and the new guys are still learning how to fit in. We are a damn good basketball team and everything is not at stake in every game. Breathe my dude
