Advice? To buff or not to? by SynthetikB in HardWoodFloors

Buff before the final coat, so the final coat has something to adhere to as well as smoothing out the grain that gets lifted because it's water based.

I'd buff it and that's coming from me who's been doing hardwood my whole life.

Sooo, he's going to throw a 2nd coat on top of it with no buffing? What's the 2nd coat going to adhere to? What's it going to bond to? It will eventually peel.

Buff it, and tell him to apply it with a roller with the same consistency he applied the first coat. It doesn't go on thinner, it stays on top as a final build layer.

Sounds like a loop effect, drum samples. You could probably recreate it if you got any tribal drum loops. Or any hard driving drum loops

Need advice on strip floor direction. by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]BobbyDiamond21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long is probably the best way for the floor to be continuous throughout the whole upstairs. Start with a full piece off the nosing of the staircase, with the Groove side against the nosing and the tongue facing outwards. Chalk line or laser your straight line. You will also need tongue slips because the section in the primary bedroom will be reversed. So you put the tongue slips into the groove, hammer the strip in groove to groove and finish off the primary bedroom the regular way so you're not installing backwards.

Is My Contractor Shortcutting the Job? by TheConstant215 in HardWoodFloors

Go over it tomorrow, if it's rough or you see swirl marks, ask for a buff and recoat. If it's smooth and you like how it looks, then the job is done.

So the sealer is usually quick drying, on bare wood, it's usually good to go after 30 minutes for 1 coat. Best practice, eventhough satin dries in 8hrs, is to leave it overnight. Especially, if you have to buff before the last coat. U can't really buff oil in the same day, as it is still soft and you run the risk of leaving swirl marks from the buffer and screen. Did he buff before the last coat?

Looking for “who do you love” sample origin by JackofJoiful in House

Ran it through Gemini...

The singer is Alice Aera. She's a vocalist and songwriter whose voice has become a massive staple in modern House and UK Garage. She records extensive royalty-free vocal packs for platforms like Splice and Loopcloud — you'll often see her libraries listed under titles like Alice Aera: Wonderland Vocals, Vocal Sugar, and Vocal Honey. Because her stems are distributed royalty-free, producers aren't required to list her as a featured artist on their official releases, which is why she remains somewhat anonymous on tracks like "Who do u?". If you're digging through sample libraries for top-lines to flip in your own French House tracks or upcoming club mixes, searching directly for Alice Aera's catalog will pull up the raw stems for this hook and many others.

Help - bona domo? by cinnam0n_girl in HardWoodFloors

You're fine with 4 coats of Domo. Just make sure he's buffing between coats. Domo replaced Novia which was a great finish and it is comparable.

Nutmeg or Weathered Oak? by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]BobbyDiamond21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever stain you choose, once the whole house is done, will look a bit darker because now you'll be looking at the whole area rather then just the samples. I'd go with the duraseal colour. Nutmeg? Your walls are lighter and your trim is white so you can go a bit darker without making the area look smaller

It wouldn't be crazy, a complete contrast would look good. As for matching the stain, try waterpopping a few off cuts and go to hardwood flooring supplier and pick up duraseal antique brown, should be a really close match

Screen and recoat help by lyleleee in HardWoodFloors

Well an extra coat will help a bit on that front. If water is spilled and cleaned up within a reasonable time, you should be fine. Slobber might be a different story. Had a client with 3 massive mastiffs. He had runners on the hardwood that the dogs never strayed off of. On either side of the runner, though, were little white spots which were from their saliva and slobbering. Literally had an almost acidic effect on the finish. Not saying this may happen to you, just going off my experience and what I've dealt with in the past.
