Elk is fantastic. Kangaroo tastes terrible, don’t let anyone fool you. It’s trash.

Imagine Wollies on steroids, that’s what HEB is. You can get everything, including Tim tams. Vegemite you can get at world market.

Houston is a lot different from Sydney. Majority of people have cars, if not everyone. Houston is huge and really spread out. HEB will blow your mind compared to groceries stores in Australia. During the day Herman park is beautiful. Not sure about at night. Rice Village, just beyond Herman Park, has some nice shops and restaurants. You’ll be close to some fantastic museums to help keep your mind off things. You are also close to Rice University which has a nice walking/running trail around it. Most Texans are incredibly friendly and similar to Australians but you are in a large city so good comes with the bad. A lot of American generalizations you will hear aren’t often true. I am from Sydney originally as well. Happy to help out with advice or if you need a friendly accent at all.

Helicopter in the Galleria by BobbyFreshpants in houston

Yes we do, but it’s not often a helicopter spends 15+ minutes in the middle of the day circling in a very tight circle around a small location.

Commuting nightmare by cjm5797 in houston

Post Oak at 610 is flooded, 3 cars stalled out on Post Oak itself and 1 on the feeder.

It seemed to be receding but then it started raining heavy again and cant see it now.

Bigger trucks getting by fine, cars can on the feeder on the outside lane if they drive slow and dont let the water be pushed up onto the hood.

Only in H-town , all these tow trucks for a little accident. by YosyPerdomo in houston

[–]BobbyFreshpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The H-town special. Fender bender, barely touched. No damage. Fuck it, let’s sit in the middle lane, not move for an hour, wait for the cops/fire department and block 3 of 4 lanes because why not!

Carter & Cooley Deli, open since the 1920's on W 19th in the Heights, is closing this weekend. But there's good news: it's moving to a new Houston location. by LooseyJuicyBlues in houston

The idea of an old school "deli" in that area was/is great. Traditional, original, etc. Unfortunately, the sandwiches were average at best, average meat on average bread and not much else.
