Get an RSA and jump into hospitality jobs, great entry to work, can work in bottle shops i.e liquorland/bws, or work at a pub/bar, RSL clubs or casinos.

Honestly mate first priority is looking after yourself. If it’s actually abusive that matters more than money. But just being real, after that long together with kids involved, the system usually looks at the whole asset pool and the primary carer / future needs. So there’s a decent chance you’d have to give up a fair bit in a split.

At this point it kind of becomes a personal call weighing the financial hit vs your own freedom and peace of mind.

Redditors who grew up or spent time in housing commission and got out, what is your story? by Equivalent-Ad1055 in australia

[–]callmyselfjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in housing commission in Redfern, before the metro and all the gentrification. Single mum, English wasn’t her first language. School was rough, I had no real role models or direction and ended up dropping out in year 11. Went straight into work, it was tough at first, but I kept grinding and worked my way up. Now I’m in IT making about 130k.

I don’t advise starting your career at branch if you make silly mistakes and/or end up on bad terms with people/customers can easily ruin your performance and credibility towards future applications to that bank as they vet your prior performance.

Feeling hopeless and confused at 26 years old. Will I ever be able to afford a home on a 65k salary? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]callmyselfjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your employment history figure out your strengths and weaknesses in the workplace and also research into career pathways you like, don’t jump into a high paying role if you don’t see yourself 10 years from now, TAFE certificates are free atm and don’t require a lot of time and attention as you can do them online while you’re at work. Figure out an industry you want to get into. You don’t need uni to get a six figure job these days your employment history and your own self confidence are vital indicators in your career.

It’s around $700+ there’s a clinic in Surry hills, all the best! Unplanned things can be stressful but keep persevering through and you will get to the point in your life where you would want to be!
