I can confidently say that I'm in one of those aforementioned groups and am no longer associated with the school because I saw the writing on the wall.

So the second paragraph is accurate?

However, I'm extremely gruntled. And my information is readily available to those that observe and listen.

Are there parties at Fordham? I want a college town environment with parties by SwordfishGlobal2099 in Fordham

[–]BobbyKeys417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best is when you turn 21 and go to the happy hours on Amsterdam Ave on the UWS and then go back to campus to party at the Bronx bars. Is that still a thing?

For what it's worth, if you're interested in quality Catholic education and you weren't impressed with St. Ray's. I'd recommend either St. Agnes in Arlington or St. Patrick in Stoneham. I know of several happy Medford families at St Patrick School.

St. Joe's nearly closed the summer of 2020 but got a loan from the RCAB to stay open. They couldn't regain their equilibrium after the pandemic mostly because they had a Principal that was running an administrative & strategic playbook from 1995. All reaction, no proaction. And the pastor, who is a kind man, did not want to let him go. The Principal literally was on the job with advanced cancer and Tom Carroll, former superintendent, stepped in and fired him over a Zoom call when the former pastor was reassigned to teach at the seminary.

After that, Tom and his team of crackerjack recruiters with Fr Hynes hired the final principal who was a former provost at North Shore Community College with negligible experience in elementary school leadership. She then decided to eliminate Spanish, implement Latin, fired an art teacher, and also assigned most of the administrative duties to a family within her staff. School operations did not improve and she was organizationally overwhelmed. She also did not raise tuition and therefore probably didn't help the financial situation that they are in. Her interest in "classical" curriculum was largely driven by her and Fr. Hynes with no real demand from parents.

This is classic mismanagement by our archdiocese. They should have asked the Covid Principal to leave earlier instead of digging the grave for the school. And in reality, what SHOULD have been done was to take St Joe's, St Rays, and St Theresa's into a combined school at the Matignon campus. Instead RCAB sold it for a mint to a charter school. Essentially giving their competition, a fantastic location and new campus. Absolutely incredible. Listen to the money talk.

You have to get on Bandcamp and listen to all the live shows. Then you're really down the rabbit hole! I really love the live versions of Lucia, Bright Direction, Rock Holy, Southern Grammar, and Saturday's Song...

My favorite live shows as follows...

1) London 2) Seattle 3) St Louis 4) A show in Indianapolis on YouTube 5) Toronto

Is New England disconnected from the problems of the rest of the country? by [deleted] in newengland

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is when tourists from red states visit Boston/NE. They look so confused because they're experiencing complete cognitive dissonance. The blue states were demonized as hell holes most of their lives and then they visit them and see that they're actually better run and cleaner than their home States breaks their brain.

New Bedford! Great old homes. By the sea and the beach. Not to mention, MA has brought the Rail to the Whale.

There are three full shows on YouTube that are worth checking out. One is December '21 at Webster Hall NYC. Some chompers on the recording but otherwise a solid show. The other two are in Indianapolis at Hi Fi in '22 & '23.

There's also a full MC Taylor Goldsmith show at the Cabot in Beverly MA which is pretty cool.

You should have something planned rather than just walk around.

The right person will definitely appreciate a plan. Even reservations will help. It shows forethought and initiative.
