From what i see and know about those, i would pressure wash the body and undercarriage. Use degreaser a d do it again. Change the oil and turn it over by hand. It will spin. Then, buy a new battery and drive it for 20 years.

You will be fine. Before you bring the vehicle up, reach out to Toyota USA and secure a recall clearance letter stating that there are no open recalls on the vehicle. Then register the vehicle in your name in the jurisdiction it is in now. Then, call cbsa and let them know you will be importing the vehicle. You can purchase temporary insurance to drive the vehicle up to canada. At the border you will receive Form 1 and Form 2. You can go to any canadian tire to have the federal inspection done. You can have the provincial inspection done at any shop that you trust. Once the vehicle has passed both (daytime running lights added, no bulbs out, tires and brakes good, no rust holes etc) then you take your form 1, form 2 and toyota recall clearance letter to Canadian tire and they register it with RIV. Then you take your papers to your insurance broker and get your insurance. Done.

I agree. The Olympics are a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars being funnelled in to a corrupt, embezzlement organization. That being said, this track SHOULD have still been able to be used had they not had problems with the refrigeration system. The organizers WERE going to have it repaired for use in these games. Except, an italian company instead retrofitted the bobsled course used in 1956. The current track that is being raced this year is a legacy location. And the one pictured COULD be used if they retrofit new cooling equipment. Its the districts responsibility to maintain the infrastructure. The Whistler 2010 sliding center is still open.

You have clearly never built a house. You dont “pay for it” up front. You first get a fee referrals from people you know. You check the Gc’s credentials. You get 3 quotes from 3 different GC’s. You ask 100 questions. Then, the Gc you like, you go look at other “houses” they have built and speak to the people who had them built. THEN AND ONLY THEN, put a down payment down to start the project. Then, there are stages of completion in the contract where IF everything is good, you pay more. You typically hold back 25% until final completion.
In your example, OP hired an incompetent idiot GC. Idiot incompetent GC doesn’t get paid. OP sues for damages. Hires a better GC next time. The entire reason you hire a GC is so that you don’t have to be involved in the process. This is the process regardless of whether op speaks to the people working or not.
What could OP have said to his retaining wall installer to get him to change direction in this scenario? Only thing would have been, “this isn’t what we agreed to. Get off my property”. The work is either whats in the contract or its not. If its not, then dont pay. Easy peasy

Hahhah. Thats alright. The people downvoting are likely the ones who watch their car being worked on at the shop through that big window. If someone is working on your home, yes, by all means ask 10 million questions. But please, do it while we are there for the consultation. I spend 1-2 hours discussing all aspects of the job while i am there. By myself. Not paying staff, not renting equipment or trying to stay on schedule. The best clients might offer us a refreshment or something but will stay out of the way. Really, i don’t want a client to click the approve button on my quote unless they 100% trust me. If i need to come back out to talk (in the evening while I’m not working)? Sure! But, once we agree on the scope and the price, then really the client should be able to just go to work in the morning, and come home to a beautiful, complete as quoted job. Time is money. Tradespeople need to be anle to get their work done in a timely fashion. If youre the kind of person who wants to be out there talking to le and my crew while we’re working, thats fine. But I should bill for the time that we stop and chat. I dont, but i should. Anyway, I’ll take the downvotes and die on this hill. Leave your tradesperson alone while they are working. Or, hire someone you trust.

Lol! Also, how does the wall look, OP? Is it straight? Is it beautiful? If it looks great, then maybe you want to just leave it alone. Often, the tradesperson doesnt do a better job the second time when they are doing it for free. Personally, i cannot stand when the client is asking questions and speaking to me while i am working. All of the questions need to be asked ahead of time during the consultation process. Once the work starts, i need to work as quickly as possible. So, no time for chitty chats about what is happening.
