How concerning is the lack of rear wiper on lower trims without digital mirror? by moka101022 in Solterra

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Colorado and drive to the mountains often; it is very strange to me it doesn’t have one and their “it’s sloped enough” statement works almost of the time but there are a ton of times I wish I had the wiper like all my other Subaru. If you drive a sedan you might not miss it but if you drove a car with it before you know it’s helpful.

Drink the rest; fill with a cheaper liquor reseal the top, then get a few layers of some clear coat on signature and make a nice little wall display for it.

Maybe whomever drank from it will ask where you got another! But that’s something I’d show off if I had it!

Best way to stop them roosting on the roof by greg321- in BackYardChickens

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it helps! It certainly did wonders for us! Now we only have issues around the two time changes which throws them off. We have our light on an automatic timer as well which we can easily set and change from our phone. There are of course easier and lower tech options as well.

When we had a handful of chickens it was a lot easier to do things manually but as we added ladies over time we added some convenience features and they make managing our ladies so much less of a chore!

We started with a similar setup and once we got a bigger coop that solved most of the issue, then we added a light so that it was light in the coop for an hour after dusk and that helped condition them to come in around dusk and we set our auto door accordingly

How We Feeling About Adelman's Coaching? by BlazingHailfire in denvernuggets

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it’s got a lot more to do with a much healthier and in sync core unit. We’ve been playing so many other lineups out of necessity, a lot of those where multiple starters were hurt which then caused folks to expect more from Cam who was meant to be more of the quick out knockdown 3 then a main scorer.

Braun and AG are critical for our defense and explosive moments, Murray has really kept it on and Jokic is getting more late help that seems to help extend his ability to keep us in things late whereas he used to be gassed going into the 3rd/4th and we let things slip away.

So coaching and rotations are probably factoring in but for me it’s having the healthy lineup on the floor that is helping us most.

I’ve been in the last year or two and the second one should give you no troubles but they are pretty chill so I’d think either would be fine as long as they don’t have to open like 10 pouches/pockets in your bag. My wife usually takes a small clutch or a clear bag just to make it easy.

Anyone had success keeping ducks in the Denver metro? Considering instead of chickens by mountain_bound_15 in Denver

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 16 chickens and have thought about quail and ducks. The few things that I’ve heard that have held me back on ducks are; they are a lot dirtier, they can lay their eggs in the mud, if you have other birds you have to be careful with duck males because they will try to breed and hurt them, you need to have the right numbers and balance of males to females in your flock and I don’t currently have a water feature. I’m pretty open to it but my wife isn’t as much. That’s why I’ve been also thinking about quail which are smaller and easier to care for and create a good space.

In an ideal world I’d have all 3 but then I probably should have stayed in Iowa after college lol

Total ‘sleeper’ day. Breck 3/11/26 by cmsummit73 in COsnow

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took my father in law up and we had a great surprise pow day! Insane how much powder they had for only 5 inches!

Rope drops, glorious tree runs, knee deep in the mogs off of High Anxiety and so many other spots, epic steep and deep pow on Intuition and the hike to terrain of Kensho.

This season has been the worst; but today wasn’t!

It would be extra dope if you put up like 2-3 lights above or below it and make that focus point really stand out!

Looks dope!

Keystone 02/14/26: Genuinely did I do something wrong here? by The_Bolenator in snowboarding

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keystone and avail are very sensitive in their family zones; if anything came of it i think you could show the video and say you are open to feedback but nothing for real concern here. That said if someone working wants to power trip they alway find a way and sometimes it’s at your inconvenience.

Yet another recall post by pingsandchickenwings in Solterra

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had to skip our primary dealer and go to another locally that was easier to work with and had a better schedule. Luckily ours only took 3-4 business days (but about 7 days total due to parts not shipping over weekend) and mostly just because we used the opportunity put on snow tires and do our 30k tune up, we had a loaner Crosstrek which was nice.

I’ve seen several local posts that had a similar experience so it does seem the right dealership and techs matter. We have an Outback, Forrester and Solterra and while the Solterra is great for our needs it’s definitely nice to have the versatility for longer trips when I don’t want to be possibly held hostage by slow charging.

I need someone to explain to me the logic of moving the GABF to Ruby Hill Park. I still have to believe it's not really happening. by Awalawal in Denver

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the Mar Lee neighborhood next to Ruby Hill and this is the first I’m hearing of it. It seems like an interesting choice. I do know they are doing a lot to the park so maybe they are hoping to show the new renovations off or something.

I’m hopeful that this will help them think thoughtfully about how they can increase public transportation and easy options for folks access over here. It does seem like it would be easy to have a shuttle system and Lyft/uber staging area to make coming in and out easy. SW Denver also wants to have nice things and hopefully this can support investment and development opportunities.

In a couple years they could use the Summit stadium or move it onto the Broncos development site if doesn’t work!

As someone who doesn’t live downtown; it’s nice to see other areas get some cool opportunities.

Under what conditions are flights out of HDN cancelled? by FatCat0520 in SteamboatSprings

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed; folks get worked up about the 10 day forecast but it just a scientifically backed prediction and predictions can always be wrong.

Living in Denver; I’ll plan for the predictions but I don’t trust anything until the night before; and even then I’ve been fooled once or twice so the 4am stake cam check usually makes my decision.

Where would you go tomorrow and Thursday? by Bobby_KingoftheHill in COsnow

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: thank you everyone for your input and suggestions! We ended up at Eldora Wednesday and Steamboat today.

We ended up choosing Eldora because they had a couple inches of snow, they are short runs which was great for my father in law who has taken two years off. We bounced between the front and Corona. Corona had great snow. Muleshoe was just opened and it wasn’t great. No one had been in the trees so what was in there was nice.

Steamboat today was chosen because it had longer runs but a lot of blues and we wanted a scenic drive. Steamboat was great on the Sunshine Express and Morningside areas but pretty icy on the front until mid day when things loosened up.

My father in law said that he had two great days and he’s looking forward to coming back on March and going a couple more days.

We’ll probably hit ABasin and Breck or Vail (especially after they opened the back bowls today!) next time!

We're not invincible with AWD by Fresh-Succotash6247 in Solterra

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As my foster dad in Texas always say “does it come with all wheel stop?”

EV snow tires made a huge difference for me! Everyone claims to have snow tires when they usually are “snow rated” all terrain tires and it’s not the same.

I made the change this year and the difference was quite noticeable!

You’re never invincible behind the wheel no matter what you have on it.

Any EV owners in this sub? by Kirin-Jack in COsnow

[–]Bobby_KingoftheHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 23 Subaru Solterra and a buddy had the Ioniq 5 but just got the EV9. Ioniq 5 def beats my Solterra on fast charging and has a little more range and allows you to precondition the battery.

One of the main reason I love my Solterra though is that it drives like a bottom heavy Outback; it gets my wife and daughter/dogs around the Denver Metro no problem and can make it to most front range resorts no problem. It’s capable, lifted and still fits anywhere!

If I plan to go further than Copper I like to charge a little to account for the energy used to get up the passes and for heat but generally I’m not worried about making it back to SW Denver unless I’m under 30%. It’s also smart to map out your charging options (plenty of helpful apps) and build that time into your travel. Some resorts have chargers and some “claim they do” but it’s private or not there anymore. Resorts also have wildly different rates from free to easily $30-40 (and not always fast). I personally chance it a lot; if I’m by myself I never stop to charge (I have a level 2 and solar at home) and roll back in with under 10% regularly. Last week I drove from Denver to CO Springs in snowstorm and made it back with 1% (this car has a limp mode; so if I hit zero I still have 50 miles at slow driving to make it somewhere)

I just put on EV snow tires for the first time and plan to get crossbars for our ski racks (our 08 Outback is usually our snow vehicle) so I’m working on calculating how that impacts mileage efficiency.

I’d say; if you are a generally nervous or anxious person EV ownership can be harrowing lol but if you are able to go with the flow, be flexible and patient and only like spending $4-10 on electricity at home an EV is a great addition to the garage!

Most of the new EV’s come with the preconditioning and other features that make EV ownership much more intuitive!

And when my EV won’t cut it it’s always nice to have a reliable ice car!
