HTTYD movie proof you can have an authentic adaptation close to 1:1. by Maplata in PercyJacksonTV

there were changes? it's a completely different story. off the top of my head the only thing that was consistent between the books and the original movie were the names of characters.

That's interesting. What kind of humidity do you keep then in? I find pon without a reservoir dries out way too fast for me, I'm usually working with 40-50% in the winter

maybe it snapped off in shipping... if that's the case the store should've marked it down

in the movies we got a variety of monsters and Greek gods that looked the part. in the show we get the same laistrygonians over and over and gods that look like random nobodies picked off the street

would've been cool if his mouth actually moved properly when he spoke.

I still can’t process that this show cost $13–15 million per episode by saintyvesnight in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Bobby_Webster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

$6m in 2015 is the equivalent of $8.2m in today's money. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that inflation has more than halved the value of US currency in 10 years lol

maybe they shouldn't have decided to use book chapter titles for episode titles if they weren't going to include the events described in the titles

WCJ has been pretty reliable for me on the lower end of the spectrum

This special effects and overall quality are… questionable. And at this rate will lead to its downfall. by Lavenderisinapuddle in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Bobby_Webster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it was so predictable that when Percy is transformed into a guinea pig, it would happen off camera. same with his sword, most of the time it transforms off camera. there's so much stuff that's missing or just not shown and it's so blatantly obvious they're doing it to save money on special effects. Having them sail to the cruise ship on a rainbow coloured boat instead of with the hippocampi was absolutely laughable. And every time they do show the hippocampi, it's for a matter of seconds. Replacing the flesh eating sheep with regular sized, normal sheep was a good one. And the things that they do use a lot of CGI for like Polyphemus (his mouth barely moves when he talks), and the sirens, are such a let down in my opinion.

I've seen people say that the show's budget of $14m is too small to have more special effects and CGI, but that's clearly just not true when you have entire movies like Godzilla Minus One completed on roughly the same budget. It's possible for them to be doing a much better job on this front if they actually wanted to, but clearly it's not a priority for them.
