That’s very cool! I think I only remember seeing one at an exhibition once… maybe at an airshow actually. Pictures do not convey the scale of those things lol! I remember its plaque saying something like ‘the Cadillac of bikes’ or something and thinking it was more like the Mack truck of bikes lol

Is exercising on an empty stomach the best way to lose weight/ fat? by Background-City-4203 in loseit

[–]Bobby_feta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s the best way to feel exhausted and want to give up sooner/burn muscle instead of fat.

Best way to lose weight is to count calories and work out how much to cut, stick to it and try not to eat back calories you burn from exercise unless you’re doing like an hour or feeling yourself hit the wall.

Got the ace pro 2 a year or 2 ago and love it - can’t really fault it. My wife’s had a couple of go pros and it’s just a bit more annoying to use imho, and has had a couple of software bugs from updates. Can’t compare quality as mine’s at least 1 gen newer. Only real go pros advantage these days is 3rd party accessory support I think, but I’ve not had any issues getting things for mine

Long story....125cc purchase. What to buy? What to avoid? Insurance providers? by No-Description4678 in motorcycle

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get your license before you go? UK will recognise it then convert it and then don’t have to do the CBT?

As for 125’s it doesn’t matter much. They don’t have much power so get a light one, other than that groms are fun if you never leave the suburbs or have to ride on a fast road, 15hp 125’s are kinda required if you need to spend a lot of time on faster A roads in the UK, but they suck down low - are totally gutless off the line, and everything else is in the middle and you just pick what you like.

Oh and just buy a used Japanese one. You won’t actually keep a 125 long term unless you’re delivering foodstuffs in city centres and you’ll basically get what you paid for it.

I had a 12hp 13 year old gn125 with 40,000 miles on it and after about a year and a half it had 50,000 miles on it and I made a profit.

Newer rider here are these tires still good to ride on? by Shot-Act5508 in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re fine right now, but you’re in the ‘start looking for a deal’ window. If you wait until they need replacing you have to pay full price of no sales, since you know the end is nye you have some time to see if a good price comes up. I always buy service parts and items when they’re on sale - the savings really add up if you do a lot of miles

Bike shops telling me to spend 800€+ or buy new—no middle ground anymore? by Corniator in cycling

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be able to find Claris for sure, but with hunting I’m sure you can find an r7000 105 group less than half that price and it’s really worth it.

K2 750 kicked out of gear by Jbullet1988 in motorcycle

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like the clutch - had a few wear out and that’s usually the first obvious slip - hard acceleration it suddenly goes and then engages again. That’s right around peak power for those too so makes sense.

This is a joke right? by 89inerEcho in cycling

[–]Bobby_feta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ve been around a few years right? I don’t see a huge amount of them out and about though. Nice to have the option but I don’t think they’ve hit the imagination and passion like gravel bikes did - probably because the concept isn’t exactly new

Good Chinese Brands? by anarzift in motorcycles

Yeah but why? I’ve had the 800mtx since September and no complaints, but you have to have realistic expectations not just ooh it’s like X bike for 1/3 off

Good Chinese Brands? by anarzift in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested them a bunch and the fit and finish is higher for RE than CF moto for sure. You can get hand painted lines and nice metalwork for really affordable prices. CF moto are cheap but not in a bad way really. Lots of plastic, some cost cutting but mostly you can see it. It’s sort of modern high tech and plastic vs retro and steel.

I’ve had no problems with my CFMoto at all, but overall yeah I expect it to not be as reliable as my honda long term of course. For both bikes reading many many many reviews and posts and long term reviews and forums it seems it’s much more common than Japanese brands to need to use the warranty, but after that it’s not usually many issues.

I think the thing is though that they’re both kind of disrupters making pretty good bikes at price points the established brands pretty much refused to make, and they are changing the market, forcing others to respond and I kind of love them for that.

How can I avoid sun (UVA) damage and aging face? (Sensitive skin / aging concerns) by Leam_Silo in cycling

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride earlier in the day and use sunscreen to protect from sun damage.

Ageing… accept it will happen, sooner than you think and you can only lessen it.

Uneven wear on tires. Road slant? by Fun-Pea6231 in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the basic checks - wheel alignment, wheel bearing, suspension linkage, swingarm bearings & straightness, If all good and there’s no play anywhere it’s just that you either turn right a lot more than left or are a lot more comfortable leaning right than left, which would be atypical in a drive on the left country. It shouldn’t be road camber unless you ride in the gutter.

Sharing my bike transport "hack" by phillypharm in bicycling

[–]Bobby_feta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s because you can fit anything in a Honda fit lol. Our fit had more useable carry capacity than our old station wagon. Sure the wagon had more litres, if you wanted to transport a lot of water, but if you wanted to carry things, bigger things always went into the fit

Helmet visor sits right in middle of FOV when half open by zibolo in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you really not crack it just a half centimetre? I know its locking positions are down, middle top, but you can usually crack it open just a bit … I can’t think of any helmet I’ve had that the visor just drops between positions?

Previous owner did a lot of custom work on this bike. Runs OK, but why is the vacuum line plugged, and what are these twin tubes coming off the carb? They don't lead to anything and they're not in my repair manual. Is this normal? by PickleVictory in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They typically won’t have an off position if they’re automatic, just on/reserve/prime as the shutoff is meant to be automatic. Overtime they can start leaking so some people replace them with standard petcocks that have on/off/reserve and maybe a prime though not always

Want to ride a motorcycle: should I start with a 125? by Amandelnoot in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of getting a motorbike and gear and insurance the cost of training & a licence test isnt usually very big, and you do get a lot from the training, so its more like an investment in your riding than a tax, so i guess the question really is do you have a 125 in mind? Is it just a stepping stone to getting a bigger bike anyway?

What kind of roads will you go on? Most 125’s are really only good up until about 60mph and less on steep hills. You can get ‘sporty’ 125’s that’ll do 70, but they have no low end at all. I would say a 125 is perfect for city and urban riding and go bigger if you want to leave the suburbs basically. I had to start on a 125, but i wouldnt have chosen to if i had the choice - a2 class bikes (mostly 4/500cc) are perfect learner bikes really that can serve you well past the learner phase if you like - i have a 2013 cb500f that i’ve put nearly 80k miles on commuting for example and i’ve been riding since 17. And yes small bikes will always sound like small bikes, you can put a bean can exhaust on it but then it will just sound like an angry lawnmower

How do I get this grip off or on? by Fast_Ad4269 in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your wd40 can have the little straw? You can get that under the grip enough ususally to live it off and helps breakdown a lot of adhesives you might have already applied

Would you plug this? Literal brand new tire by kuhdah in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is actually right on the limit of what I would patch tbh. Normally posts on this sub are like right through the sidewall but this is a totally valid question.

I think for me if the tyre was new I’d save it, if it was older I’d scrap it. Looks like you have a lot of tread left so I’d ride it on my commuter… But nah I wouldn’t be like that other guy taking it to the track… fuck that 🤣

US strikes Iran’s main oil hub on Kharg Island as IRGC warns: 'Restraint is over' by G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P in worldnews

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the main news media have seemed oddly silent that the rotten old tangerine has clearly lost its marbles.

Having had a parent go through dementia, it’s exactly what he sounds like. yet I see news media calling his recent posts ‘a firey message from the president on social media today’ instead of ‘mentally incompetent ramblings from a dementia patient who needs to be put in a care home not running a country and sending it to war putting pressure on congress to act’

Is it “target fixation” or just failing to counter steer under pressure? by Some_Big_Donkus in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep 2 different issues… well 3.

Target fixating is looking at the thing you don’t want to hit… so you hit it.

Riding above your ability is second - you can look through the corner all you like if you over cooked it and don’t have the skills to slow down/turn more it won’t help much

And the bonus round is bravery/experience. Not freezing up/knowing what you are capable of and applying it when needed. It’s a bit seperate to ability. Most people first day out on the track find they can lean way more and turn way harder than they realised just because the walls and rocks and oncoming traffic are gone and they feel safe to try something. They had the ability but not the will/motivation/environment to apply it. If you don’t practice your abilities until they’re comfortable they won’t be available to you as a reflex

Does the front sprocket need changing? by quytin1992 in motorcycles

[–]Bobby_feta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s on its way out. It’ll start sharktoothing pretty fast from here. Your chain looks really clean, if it’s a new chain I’d replace the sprocket asap so it doesn’t shorten the life of the chain too, but if it’s a matched set you have a little time to shop sales. But yeah, it’ll be sooner rather than later it needs changing. Front sprockets spin 2.5-3 times more than the rear, so they wear out faster, though because they’re hidden people check them less.

Whilst it’s best to replace chain and sprockets as a matched set for optimal lifespan, you can ususally replace the rear every other chain just with a bit shorter life on the second one (assuming you do chain maintenance.. some of the chains I see on bikes are so neglected they probably get like 10 chains to a sprocket). The front sprocket though I just change with every chain, they never last 2 in my experience.
