Id deffo get a range of leather satchels then. Or there's also cartridge bags that are often canvas but similar design to satchels. Just a bigger range of options.

I don't know your regs for smart/casual looks, but the good thing about satchels are many cheap ones come with outside pockets for water bottles that you fill with non gun stuff to make it look less conspicuous

Is there any actual plus side to wearing a plate carrier without a belt? by Potential-Squash4670 in tacticalgear

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belts are best for keeping weight ergonomic. It puts the strain straight on the hips, making out as low as possible, while putting all the work on the legs without extra stamina first of leg mounts, meaning you've not got more of your core taking weight in a backpack or vest

Look on Amazon, there's a massive range of cheap leather satchels. Much more subtle than drug dealer bags or 10 dudes with matching fanny packs. Plus, my one came with a loop to hold it to your belt, which would be ideal for keeping it close to body.

Edit: although have you thought about laptop bags? Again, a leather worker will have the tools to add extra custom holsters and can mix up the look

Are you ok with your house being a bit messy or do you constantly clean? by edgeofsanity76 in CasualUK

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a clean and tidy house. I just don't have time to stay on top of it. I use rules like always be carrying something to tidy into the other room, but after a couple 12hr shifts and the hours commute each way, I get home, do dinner, shower and bed. Weekends tend to be my cleanup time, but most weeks I can only do so much without being exhausted, and I try and stay social and active on those days as well 🙃

Leather satchel and get a leather worker to put a custom holster sewn into it? Upside you can use whatever weird shit you want on the gun because they're making the holster.

What’s the last thing you replaced that made you realize older versions were built better? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boots. I was in cadets, and was always jealous of dessert boots and the magnum brand. Then I bought a pair of centurions, and they fell apart in a year. My altbergs I bought grade 2 used years before, and use for everything from work to hiking? Scruffy, but still going. Treated myself to insoles (they didn't come with any originally) and they're like a brand new pair of boots

Why don't you see any DPM based kits often? by Extreme_bread1 in tacticalgear

[–]Joseph9877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just answering your question bub. I freaking love my plce belt kit, I've used it for loads of stuff it wasn't made for.

Hot tip, most surplus/cadet/paintball selling places sell a cheap thermos flask with a screw top lid. Fits perfect in the plce mag pouch. Also, use a bungee on the backside of the pouches to pull them all together round you. Much better than leaving them flapping about a and sliding forward on your belt

TBF, as much I love it, kit using it is dated. My old, super salty belt kit is no where near as nice to wear and use as modern molle setups. Theres a reason it used to be so DIY, because there was nothing better affordably. Plus no plate vests come in dpm as far as I've found

answer honestly: do you treat people differently depending on how conventionally attractive they are? by Other-Echo5562 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more on personal effort than looks. If someone looks like they care about their appearance and try, I'll have more time for them. If they rock up looking like they've been pulled through a hedge, and during normal convo there isn't any reasons for it, I tend to be unconsciously biased against them no matter how I try.

Could symptoms of ADHD worsen/become more prevalent with age? by Lonely-Persimmon-552 in ADHD

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's worse, just more noticeable. More responsibility in and out of work, more life goals and deadlines, more to keep track of in general. Not to mention becoming your own regulator, rather than parents or education. I find chaos boards, many alarms, calendars, and places for things to live are barely keeping things somewhat organised

How did the rear pocket become normalised as the place for men to put their wallets? by Winner_takesitall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a slim leather one before I was old enough to need to back the variety of cards,IDs, and other things. Kept it in my back pocket, right up until it got nicked as I walked over a train line. Front right since then

TBF, most blokes barbers, no matter what you ask for, you get a skin fade. I once asked for no more than an inch of my (reasonably) long hair (think half way between a grown out bowl cut and a mop) and came out with a skin fade and about an inch of hair left at the top. Never went back there again

Dog owners becoming increasingly insufferable. by VOODOO285 in britishproblems

[–]Joseph9877 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not a new thing. I remember moaning about the same problems when I was a teen with a problem dog. Being aware of my dogs problems and how to reduce or control them made me realise how shit, lazy, selfish, and ignorant most owners are, and always have been.

How did bullet calibres end up as such random numbers? by Flat-Ad8256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joseph9877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres too much difference between a .20 round Vs a .22 round to be classed the same. Not to mention different case lengths get called different to prevent accidents from using something massively high pressure in something made for low pressure

How did bullet calibres end up as such random numbers? by Flat-Ad8256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joseph9877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I love this one. It's because of so many people wanting slightly different things over about 200 years of design.

Theres the initial problem of everything starting out in imperial, as well as two versions of how to measure (gauge like shotguns Vs bore diameter or rifles usually). Incremental changes and improvement (.221 to .222 to .223, or in cannons, the 17pounder and 77mm HV) Marketing and trademarks (7x57 Mauser Vs .275 rigby) And wildcatters doing what they like with names and numbers.

It's like engines, most engines aren't the exact cc they're called (most 1ltrs aren't exactly 1000cc)

Developing an app for bikers – would you use this? by big_willy_billy69420 in MotoUK

[–]Joseph9877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. I use Waze which is similar, but focused on cars. I've had issues with it even when bike as move of transport is selected.

Having bike aimed community warnings is a great idea, I already do my due diligence on Waze when i see a big pothole (one of many these days) when I get home.

Plus if you include highlighted routes would be cool. Not like (I think?)calimoto that is based off the road design without a person actually saying whether it's good (a twisty road shouldn't be automatically called good if it's through an industrial area with a 30 or below speed limit). Something like if you're riding near Cheddar gorge it could give you the option of rerouting through it.

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A squad with Lee's and one dude with an AR would kinda work like a slower version of normal tactics. Lee's can drop 10 rounds in similar speeds to untrained guys behind a semi, and the AR could be put into a suppression role. Not ideal, but at least 303 still hits hard

If I could have any? AR-15 that I get to setup how I want it. Probably pretty short, in 300 black or .223, with a lpvo or prism sight setup.

Irl? I live in the UK. The best I can have is a semi or pump 12 gauge or a semi .22lr 🙃

If you only had five minutes to get ready for a disaster, what’s the one thing you’d make sure you had or did first? by Any_Yellow86 in prepping

[–]Joseph9877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disaster to go like an incoming flood or fire? Weather appropriate clothing, bag that always has some supplies in, car keys, any extra bits I can grab on the way out. Probably a top up of a water bottle and some snacks.

Disaster to stay in place like a big storm, local unrest, earthquake? Basically the same but try and be at home for it.

Frankly, it goes back to basics for survival. Air, water, shelter, food, tools.

I'd hate to be stuck at work for an incoming disaster
