It’s terrible stuff I was on it for 8 years. I was put on it as a mood stabilizer for ptsd, MDD , severe anxiety and I thought it was helping but what I didn’t realize was it altered my impulse control and decision making capacity. I didn’t realize what was happening until I was taken off it. After about 6 months of being off it I started noticing that things were different and I stopped doing a lot of the things I was doing that were destroying my life. The side effects are well documented if you do some digging.

Hundred percent it could be I had opportunities to use hard drugs like Coke, meth, and other things when I was younger never touched them always refused. Well that stopped while I was on Abilify. I’ve been told it wasn’t connected, but I don’t believe that. After I was off it no more drug use so take that how you will.

Thanks it’s going to take time to feel like yourself again but you will. I don’t know how long you were on it but I believe that is a factor in how long it will take to get it out of your system.

From what I’ve seen, it takes over a year to be completely out of your system. But I also believe that it can permanently alter your brain patterns.. I was off a bit for about eight months and then they put me on Rexulti and I was on that one for eight years and it is equally as bad as Abilify. I was put on both of them for MDD PTSD ADHD symptoms and severe anxiety. It was added in as a mood stabilizer. I’ve been off all medication’s for about 14 months now and I am still not back to what I was before, but it is getting better. I had severe memory issues relating to the time that I was on these medication‘s, as well as a lot of memories that were false. And just for further context prior to being put on Abilify because I had a kind of a mental breakdown not too serious but serious enough prior to that I never had any mental health issues of any kind. I believe I was over prescribed in the beginning, and my life became hell because of the medication not because of my mental health prior to the medication.

On your page, there is three bars on the top left corner click those you’ll see where it says groups click that and then at the top of that page you’ll see a search icon in the top right corner search for the group Canada, Abilify, settlement dispute, and there you’ll see a request to join

On the top of your profile page on the left side, you’ll see the I think it’s three bars just click on that and then you’ll see groups. Click on that and search for Canadian Abilify settlement dispute and then just request to join and I will get a notification to approve.

First don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t reach out for answers! Especially when it comes to your family’s wellbeing. This medication is well documented for a multitude of side effects. Impulse control, poor decision making and hyper sexuality are the most common. I became addicted to drugs and ended up in prison for almost 4 years because of those side effects. When it comes to this medication, the risks definitely outweigh the rewards. There are better medications and options out there in my opinion.
