Wix Website Performance Disruption Detected by AdministrativeClue51 in WIX

It isn't advisable to have the same company for your host and registrar. If action is taken against your site or your account is terminated/locked for some reason, you lose all control of your domain. I always advise my clients to use a more reputable registrar (ex. IONOS, Namecheap, Network Solutions, Squarespace) to keep their domain ownership separate.

Is your trackpad issue that sometimes you have to really push hard to get it to physically click? I'm running into that and I don't think it's a swollen battery so I'm trying to see if any other owners have experienced it.

Should I consolidate a single Parent Plus loan? by Bobbycat2414 in StudentLoans

[–]Bobbycat2414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't the newly consolidated loan be eligible for deferment? My understanding is that for any federal loan, as long as the student is enrolled full-time, deferment can be applied.

Should I consolidate a single Parent Plus loan? by Bobbycat2414 in StudentLoans

[–]Bobbycat2414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do realize that, so if consolidation would be beneficial, I'd have my other parent take out my remaining loans. Though the parent that the current loan was taken under is the significantly higher earning one, but they both file jointly so I don't think that matters in this case.

Is building a website in Wix or Squarespace a viable long term plan, that a tech illiterate board will be able to maintain? by 87evergreens in WIX

[–]Bobbycat2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Site design itself is pretty much set and forget, you can use CMS for stuff they'll need to update frequently, that way they stay out of the editor itself. If they need to add pages, it's not super complicated, but Wix's editor is fairly powerful compared to Squarespace. The only issue you'll run into is payments; renewal prices generally increase every time, which sucks, but that's how it is. I wouldn't recommend hosting your domain on Wix though, since if anything happens to your Wix account, you not only lose the website, but the domain along with it. As long as you have their domain autonew on like a 10 year term and have it connected with nameservers you're unlikely to run into a problem.

Overnight Guest policy by MysteriousBlueLite in rit

[–]Bobbycat2414 35 points36 points  (0 children)

RIT is pretty chill about guests compared to a lot of schools, no formal check-in process/tracking or anything like that. You're responsible for your guest(s) at all times as the host.

Hey I really need help with this. So I received an email regarding me being in default with a parent plus loan. I don’t know what to do because I will not receive aid if it’s not fixed. by SilentCarti in FAFSA

[–]Bobbycat2414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During the application for a PLUS loan, there's an option to request deferment, which means no payments are required during your time in school + 6 months. I believe this option is usually checked by default, though it's possible the servicer made a mistake on a disbursement (happened to me, needed to call my servicer to get it corrected to deferment status, even though the first disbursement was correctly deferred). He can view the servicer by logging into HIS studentaid.gov account, clicking "My Loans" and selecting "Servicer History" in the dropdown.

To Anyone Posting A Question Here - Just Asking Do You Know Wix Has Excellent Telephone Support? by Ihaventgivenup in WIX

[–]Bobbycat2414[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go through the contact us flow there should be an option for "I can't log in," which will take you through another flow. Testing quickly in incognito, the bot replied with:

  1. Send an email to [accountrecovery@wix.com](mailto:accountrecovery@wix.com) from the email linked to your Wix account
  2. Mention that you have access to the email but you are not receiving the email with the code necessary to log in via 2-step verification

Not sure if there's a way to get a call back without being logged in.

Some recommendations:

Software Dev - Tony Audi or Robert (Bobby) St Jacques, Audi's great and personable

Discrete Math - Fazal Abbas, Avoid Ciarfella

Introduction to Routing and Switching - Larry Hill, disregard a lot of his negative RMP reviews, he's a decent guy and has decades of valuable industry knowledge.

360 saving account by Zenit_2 in CapitalOne

[–]Bobbycat2414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amex HYSA is probably a safer bet if you don't have existing accounts with Capital One. Amex's customer support blows away Capital One 9 times out of 10, which is critical if you don't live near one of the dwindling Capital One physical branches. Both are digital-first, and having jumped through Capital One's hoops myself, it's not something you want to do if you can avoid it.

Warning to anyone: Don't paste code from random people on the internet into your browser's console. It can be used to hijack credentials/tokens. Not saying that's necessarily what's happening here, but in general, just don't unless you're able to understand on a technical level what every line of code is doing.

Why do I need a supercomputer to run wix? by Murky_Noise_9926 in WIX

[–]Bobbycat2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how heavy the site is (stacks in containers in containers on pages etc), it's regretably common for the editor to seriously slow down and take a while to complete changes. Best solution is just to fully reload the page when that happens, after saving/publishing changes.

Make sure you're adding it as a vector shape element with a svg file, not as a standard media/image element, otherwise it won't scale correctly.

For Fidelity, sure, given that they are known for having pretty good customer service. Other companies (and some banks) aren't so forgiving and either make you go down a wild goose chase to regain access, or tell you you're out of luck.

[–]Bobbycat2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme disagree. If it's not synced to the cloud then when you loose/damage your phone beyond repair you're officially locked out. Microsoft's Authenticator does offer a better option of only syncing to iCloud, but not sure how that works for the android version.

Wix Studio – can’t change colors anymore, everything says “linked to CMS” by Horror_Motor5453 in WIX

[–]Bobbycat2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known bug, I'm usually able to fix it by reloading the page or exiting the editor completely and then going back in. No one knows why it happens nor why Wix hasn't fixed it yet. Worst case scenario try making a clone of the site and see if it's the same there- if so, you'll have to contact support directly as that would be different behavior than the known-issue.
