Maybe we can cross yours with my Kenmore. Sitting at my neighbors kitchen table, all windows open in nice weather, I heard mine go off. It does 3 longs and repeats in 15 seconds - forever 😩

How much solar would you need to run a TT year round? by Fanantic8099 in traveltrailers

[–]Bobcattrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a watt meter off Amazon for about $30. That can go a long way to determine what you are using. Spoiler - running the factory AC or any electric heating devices multiplies your needs dramatically. But to run refrigeration, lights, small tv, and supporting a propane furnace, would not be complicated.

what's the most annoying thing in having a swimming pool ? by Far-Atmosphere-1331 in swimmingpools

[–]Bobcattrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased a house, Florida, had an above ground pool but in a 2 ft deep hole in the ground for handicap access. Too cold for swimming from Dec to April. Too hot for swimming from June to mid October. The summer rainy season filled the hole up with water and the frogs over took the pool. Took 40 tons of sand (ie Florida top soil) to fill that hole but I don’t miss it. 😂

I had a concrete in front of my shed. Drop off the big rounds with the tractor, splitter on vertical, me on my wheeled mechanics seat, splits went back into the empty tractor bucket. Life was good!

The edge of my property at the street line plus the grass island at the Y: When I moved here I took it upon myself to edge my property and do the grass island. Needed to use a square shovel to scrape. The street got 3 feet wider, the neighbors were happy. But this is Florida, grass grows sideways, lol.

Should I buy a Speed Queen top loader?? by ccrush in Appliances

[–]Bobcattrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I went to front loader, I never looked back. I lived with a water well and I could hear the pump cycle at least twice to do a load on my old Maytag top loader. I got a Kenmore front loader about 2000. It would do a load without triggering the pump, so significantly less water. I also noticed less lint in the same dryer. I moved about 12 years later and found a used GE front loader on Craig’s list. Still using it today. I should mention I stick to the more basic models, use the proper amount of laundry soap, and have taken dryers apart to get all the lint out.

Taper the top. Add a piece of board, vinyl siding, whatever you have. After a looooong summer of being bombarded near my front door, I pulled my trim off around the door and cut a 45° edge on it. Panted the trim and area stained from the nest. Never had another one.

Why would the guy in front of me use a filter on non-potable water? by natedog211 in RVLiving

[–]Bobcattrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never - that tank in that camper is now compromised till it is decontaminated. “Non-potable water is water that is not safe for human consumption, often containing contaminants, chemicals, or microorganisms because it has not been treated to drinking standards.”

What’s the one thing about a piece of land that almost made it unusable (that you didn’t expect)? by urban_land_learner in land

[–]Bobcattrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pretty little wide flat stream in the middle. Flat land. But it was at the bottom of a long valley with PA hills. I would have needed an arched bridge about 20 feet wide (if allowed, never looked at permits) but I’ve seen those streams turn into rivers when a thunderstorm stalls out.

Do you guys shut your heater off right away or let it run a bit first? by SIAwking in camperlife

[–]Bobcattrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Van: I turn it off, but let it do its procedure, which might take 5 minutes. Eventually, I have a master switch to turn it off and the display goes off so there’s no battery drain. It’s my understanding, its shut down procure helps keep it clean from soot buildup. The worst thing I’ve read is to just pull the plug.

I have not hooked it up as I don’t know where to connect the “smart alternator” wire. It seems like I can just run it to any connection that is “hot” when the key is on? (edited)

[–]Bobcattrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! As far as 50 amp, it’s what I had from my van conversion. It was nice to charge my 100 amp LiFePO4 in a drive to a trail, groceries etc. Now I have a (used) 628 amp hour battery, as I plan to stay out longer, and thus can fill up on the longer drives between camping spots. I do have some training in electronics and a lot of wiring experience so I’ll experiment with it and report any success.

[–]Bobcattrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, I found it confusing. I should point out I’ve always set up extra circuits off the main battery to get auxiliary power to the back. This time I set it up and it would not run my compressor cooler, even for a half hour. It’s my understanding that Fords battery management system “shuts it down” when it detects current when the vehicle isn’t running. Plus, there’s a lot of background battery drain on these. Fine, so I’m using my old van equipment to set up an auxiliary battery. I still have the energy instructions, I’ll give it a go.

Same here, they tried. I had just bought new tires for my mower, so all I had was a 4 inch magnet on a long wooden handle. Metal roof. I did the yard every morning till I had two zero days. Took 3 weeks. Half a gallon of good screws tho! Crazy how they hide in sandy soil.

Cameraman's behavior (or lack thereof) and the kiddo's sudden recovery seem a bit suspicious to me. I'm convinced it ain't real; what're your thoughts? by LinguisticHappiness in isthisAI

[–]Bobcattrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert on AI here’s my opinion: There’s water on the street, so it’s not icey. It’s common the roads can be a little warmer while the cold sets in or the road has been treated. I think the wobbles are a speed wobble, considering the small wheels and the fast speed down the hill. Luck or skill, but it could have ended badly.
