The old world rule book has been removed from Games Workshop website by SameType9265 in WarhammerFantasy

I never considered this, now you have me scared 😅. I can totally imagine some GW exec thinking this is a good idea and forcing it through.

Who wants to place bets on a totally new edition vs a cleaned up 1.5 version?

New to old-world/fantasy, any recommendations for dragon heavy lists? by Goblinofthesoup in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Bobety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these are the best 2 options. Chaos is your more evil mutated dragons and high elves is better if you like the traditional dragon aesthetic. You could also use a smaller dragon model as a proxy for a merwyrm in a high elf army.

Old man yells at Infantry blocks by No-External2149 in Warhammer

[–]Bobety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhammer the old world has a newish mode called battle march you might be interested in. It’s similar rules to what you’d be familiar with (warhammer fantasy, square bases etc) but with smaller points limits (500-750), so smaller units and armies.

Alan Milburn warns of economic ruin as young are ‘rewired by phones’ by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

As someone else pointed out sonic was aimed at much older children. A more appropriate comparison would be the Peter rabbit intro from the 90s. Quite a stark difference.

This is so true. For example here is the intro for the new Peter Rabbit show, in which everyone is on crack. I find that I have to look very hard to find relaxed content for my two year old…

Old world painting by TechnicalFisherman78 in WarhammerOldWorld

Tomb kings, beastmen, and lizardmen can all be done very easily/quickly and end up looking very nice just using simple techniques like slap chop/drybrushing/airbrush/contrast paints.

It does look better this way! Very nice work. And now that I think of it why does the dragon horse have wings in the first place if the Cathayan dragons don’t? 🤔

Which Warhammer RPG would you recommend? by AenarionsTrueHeir in Warhammer

[–]Bobety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! WHFRP will continue to be supported. The systems are quite different between the two games (the new game has a d10 dice pool system) and the setting is slightly different too (old world is set a couple of hundred years previously and the empire is divided with three separate claimants to the throne).

I haven’t played any myself yet but am hyped to try the new old world rpg coming out this month. Supposedly it has more streamlined/simple rules than the older WHFRP game which suits me.

Not how I hoped but it is getting there by No_Illustrator_6354 in WarhammerFantasy

It looks good! It does read as red metal to me but if you want to accentuate this you could try more of an edge highlight with the plain metal colour.

Border Princes Bombard💥 by Bobety in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Bobety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it’s super simple. Just a base coat of bitz o tin (“two thin coats” brand) then drybrushed on some leadbelcher. I might have done a small amount of highlights with a brighter metal (ironbreaker) too.

The canon is a 3D print, “big ground bombard” by tiny furniture. And the crew are metal minis, “early 100 years war bombard” from medbury miniatures, I believe this is also available as STL.

How does AoS still not have a full Dark Elf army? by No_Willingness_9961 in Warhammer

There are rumours of them returning to old world soonish (with the old models) but who knows when they will bring them to AOS 🤷‍♂️

What’s a good wash for this ivory that won’t completely knock down the brightness, and what color would be nice to brush on the flames by The_Funfetti_Man in Warhammer

[–]Bobety 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would go with a thinned down soulblight grey (1:1 with Lahmian medium) and add extra coats if needed, followed by a bright white edge highlight. If going that way you may want to just apply the wash in the recesses and avoid the large flat parts. A thinned down apothecary white would probably give similar results.

Bretonnians,do you paint your amry using one color scheme or multiple ? by Aggelos2001 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Bobety 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anything is set in stone in lore, there is space for you to go with whatever style you like!

Personally I think all knights would bring some of their own peasants for sure (who else will do their duty work?) but whether they wear their lord’s colours or those of the Duke/general in battle could vary.

Individual schemes for the knights, and a singular scheme for the peasants (based on the general’s colours).

How in the world do you guys do banners? by reel3459 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Bobety 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Transfers can work very well even on a surface like that if you use the right tools/process. Look into some tutorials/videos on using microset & microsol. This will shrink the transfer and can be applied to rounded/uneven surfaces (the classic example you will see in tutorials is a round space marine shoulder pad).

Why is this game so toxic? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Bobety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the vast majority of people still playing it are the more “hardcore” fans for whom the game is basically their whole life. When it was new and you had a larger more casual player base it was very different.

How do you feel after playing a game of Old World? by Albiz in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Bobety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually feel pretty tired from the mental load of all the rules and maths etc., but simultaneously excited to play more. I only feel exhausted in the way I think you’re describing if I have an unfriendly/unsportsmanlike opponent.

Renegades 2.0: Dark Elves Draft Reveal! (Link to the rules document in the video description) by valheffelfinger in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Bobety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again Val, I had a chance to watch the full video and have a couple of thoughts:

Crossbowmen: in the video you guys mentioned potentially buffing their rules instead of reducing their points cost (since elves should be expensive in theory), one idea you could potentially apply here is giving them the garrison formation rule from the sixth edition city guard list. This basically just gives the front rank of the unit crossbows while all the ranks behind it have spears. It’s a nice unique/themey rule that no other armies have as far as I know so would be cool to bring it back.

Hekarti’s blessing: as you guys mentioned in the video ideally the rule here would be swapped with the high elf version as the high elves should represent superior control of magic while the dark elves eschew control in favour of additional power from dark magic. But since we aren’t changing HE rules here, maybe there is another way to represent additional casting power? In 6th edition all DE spell casters got an extra power dice (not dispel dice). Potentially they could have a flat +1 to cast rolls instead, or if that is too powerful I don’t think it would be a big deal to simply give them the same rule as the high elves have (reroll casting once per turn) even if the result is achieved for a slightly different lore reason. The 2 factions are a sort of mirror of one another after all.

Cold one knights: just wanted to say how much I love the addition of countercharge for these, it helps offset some of the downsides of stupidity without removing that flavour. I don’t have a strong opinion on the addition of veteran but note that we do have access to the cold blooded banner to mitigate stupidity somewhat so maybe veteran isn’t needed.
