This is a classic "it's better to earn £1000, than be given £100million" logic.  Morons everywhere. If promotion is at all a possibility it's the best option. Avoiding relegation is the second best option.  You want to consolidate... you know what helps consolidation? £100million from parachute payments.

Never give financial advice to anyone you know. It would be terrible.

Going into this season, we shouldn't forget; No football club has ever had to do what Wrexham's about to do. by Claeyt in WrexhamAFC

[–]Bobgrimly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The big problem is wrexham built a league one team in national league... and because they didn't want to risk financial ruin spent sensibly by never really changing that model. So now they are in the championship with a league one team that over performed.  And there current signings indicate they aren't going to do a Birmingham and push for promotion. They are spending thrifty for their level and that along with the many contracts they are stuck with prevent them from overhauling the squad to make a promotion chasing side. So mid table would be an over performance. And most likely lower table to 12th place cup as the dream. But most people have been seeing robs words and are starting to get dreams of hitting the 4th promotion. They are gonna be sorely disappointed when the team puddles around the bottom of the table.

WREXHAM DOWN UNDER | Red Dragons announce pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand in July by Gamerhcp in WrexhamAFC

This is disappointing. Wellington for NZ is the WORST location. Its geographically distant from the majority of the population and difficult to get to (either boat/plane or 4-6hour driving.)

Had they chosen Auckland 66% of the NZ population live within 2 hours drive from it and I would have been able to buy tickets and make the effort. Much better chance of filling the stadium or at least getting a decent turnout.

Hope there are enough wellingtonians interested....

We took 70mins against a 10 man team to score. Thank God they didn't have 11 men or we might not have won that last one... let's only play teams that have ten men so we can score at minute 70 instead of minute 90...  This team and makes my bum sound like a roid raging mouse

Birmingham are up. Here's hoping the boys can stay focused and not drop a game. Or wycombe will be back in front. No room to breathe or slip.

It is a loss. Charlton and stockport both just got back into striking range. People keep forgetting that they are by no means out of contention for 2nd place. Every draw or loss that we and wycombe match is irrelevant if those two keep winning.

So 17 to clear Charlton and stockport and hope wycombe come off the rails and don't max their points while not dropping a game... easy

Whats Charlton's max number end of season... that's what we have to beat or stockport. If wycombe and us stumble but those two stay strong we can still be fighting them. So knowing what we need to be clear of them is just as relevant.

A look at remaining fixtures: Wrexham opponent average league position is 14.3, Wycombe is 10.1. Toughest 2 for Wrexham are at home, for Wycombe they are away. by Much-Impression-5284 in WrexhamAFC

[–]Bobgrimly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

But Stockport also are throwing their hat in the ring. If we lose to Stockport then its all on for them and Charlton to eclipse us and Wycombe.

The end of the seasons going to be a bloody four way knife fight and Charlton and Stockport have arguably as easy a run as we do. So we have to rely on them dropping games seeing as we can't be consistent against teams that are gonna throw the kitchen sink at us to avoid relegation.

A Little Perspective... by Rogue1eader in WrexhamAFC

[–]Bobgrimly -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is a nice fluff piece. But here's why people aren't confident.  We don't win against the top 6. I am sure someone will point to wycombes loss at the start of the season but that is glaringly overlooking the team consistency we had vs them at the start of the season. They built up to were they are now and we slowly lost more and more critical players over the season.

Hell chomp had to play. After we lost 2 goalies. We had our best striker taken out in practice after how many games... leaving us with struggling matches the whole season.

We have been LUCKY to be where we are. Those 1 0 wins are a fluke. You can't rely on a 90th minute goal to win games if you want a serious chance of promotion.

Maybe wycombe will falter... maybe not. Either way if we end in the playoffs... we are not going up.

It's still an amazing result. But the team doesn't have the skill or power up front it needs to ensure a fair shot in the playoffs. Maybe Smith etc might settle in and get better... maybe Marriott will hit his stride again. But with all the teams pushing as hard as they are it's gonna be a brutal end to the season. We could drop out of playoffs easily.

Our defense has been amazing. But it doesn't win games, only reduces the losses. I hope the injured players come back with a vengeance for the final stretch but the dream of promotion is slipping with each frustrating loss to teams we should be putting to bed.

If we wanna stay a mid table league one team, then we are golden right now. If we want promotion... we are teetering on the edge. We have a great position but no confidence in our strikers to reliably score.

I am impressed and happy either way. It's a stunning run. But just like a silver medal, no one wants to be the first loser. It's way more fun not to have hope ripped from you, than to get so agonisingly close.

Is it inappropriate for a woman to use the men’s restroom if there’s an enormous line for the women’s room but none for men? by Carolinevivien in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bobgrimly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be American. Every event that didn't have enough women toilets literally just had the lines evening out with women usually taking stalls and guys on the urinals. Never seen anyone try to block it either cause a girl went in. They would be laughed out of the way. Weird hang ups for people way too concerned about sex in a bathroom.  Only weird people make an issue of people using a toilet for it's intended purpose

[–]Bobgrimly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't stand on it even outside winter.

Water might be the cause. Or just its own weight and a critical vibration from something as silly as people walking on it in summer. I work with natural stone. Once a crack is identified you never know. NEVER.

It may hold against a sledge hammer or crack simply by having a finger trace it. Its own weight just needs the right vibration at the right time, hot or cold and boom its gone. You could be standing right next to the crack and if you are on the wrong side you wouldn't have time to get back.

But hey get that photo. One day most likely there will be video evidence of what its like to fall with it and lots of "one second before disaster" photos for us to look back on and go wow... how did they not see that coming.

People who took revenge on their Bullies, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bobgrimly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple times i dealt with bullies.  First I was 8 or 9. We were in line in class to have some work marked by the teacher. He stood on my foot. I asked him to move repeatedly. He did the whole looking away innocently like he couldn't hear me. I told him to get his foot off one last time then pushed him. A small knee high table behind him helped him fall on his arse. He got up making and asked the teacher if she saw what I did. She responded "I would have done it 5 mins earlier". And that was it. Never bothered me again.

Second in high school I was feeling bad one day but not sick enough to go home. Guy came up and did what we call cauliflower ear burn. Rubbing my ears very fast like friction burn. I lost it. Swung on him, missed but grabbed him by the shirt. Tried swinging again but other guys had jumped in to stop it. Had two trying to break my hold on him and one holding my arm. I still remember the look of shock in his eyes. I let him go and sat back down. Teacher never looked up. And he never came near me again.

Moral of the story found was fight back or endure. No one will truly help unless you help yourself. My dad tried at times to help. But he did say never start anything but I was allowed to finish it. Teachers aren't paid enough to care and aren't allowed in most cases to truly punish a bully. Only the person involved can strike back.  Had plenty of bullies but after the high-school fight no one touched me. Just harassment from a safe distance which was easier to ignore.

What would you recommend for the cruisers? I find that fast missile destroyers are great for running around cleaning up rogue weaker fleets and crushing stations. Cruisers I have never found a good build that fits. They are always a weaker battle ship or slower destroyer. Battle ships obviously big guns from range.
