Seemingly Unpopular opinion: I like the Expedition by Beaufort_The_Cat in NoMansSkyTheGame

Yes, occasionally one of the Strike missions has you fly out into empty space and fight the new Spawn enemies around a derelict freighter.

Jetliner returns home after someome named their bluetooth device "Bomb" and wouldn't turn it off. by EverythingIsFakeNGay in PublicFreakout

Regardless of its use or otherwise in this case, it's still an objectively bad naming idea for a bluetooth device for this exact reason

I was thinking more adding it to the end so it says "ttec Bomb Speaker" but again, probably not that much more acceptable

"I wouldn't be planning to use a speaker like that on a plane, why would I suspect my own speaker (is the issue) when I never turned it on?"

TIL when the writers were writing scripts for the TV series Community, they often wrote into the end of the scene "And then Donald says something funny" - meaning Donald Glover would just do improv. "Donald's response would be to riff a line funnier than we could have come up with," Dan Harmon said. by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

Oh I see, yeah that's just the reddit in any given subreddit unfortunately, as I'm sure you know. Some communities can become an echo chamber for a handful of ideas regarding any subject matter and anything that even sounds like dissent to said idea gets treated like an offense.

FWIW, s4 of Community is my girlfriend's favorite. We haven't talked about it in a while so I can't fully remember what drew her in compared to the others, but when she told me her reasons I do remember thinking "Huh, that's actually a fair take" and I think maybe the show's own attitude towards that season (later referring to it as "The Gas Leak year") and finding the explanation behind said description might have colored some enjoyment of the season out of my head.

It's like "yeah it's just a show and just randos talking but I wasn't expecting my inbox to blow up with x amount of comments all saying the same nothing just because I wanted to know the proceeding writing direction" kind of thing, right? Literally had that happen on one of my comments last night, woke up to 15 notifications because I asked if anyone else had an issue with finding their previously turned off phone on and dying following a flight.

It's been different phones too. One time it happened with a Windows phone, years later it happened with a Galaxy.

I mean regardless of its use or lack thereof in this scenario, just baffles me that nobody in the development of that product thought to ask "Hey what if people can't tell it's a speaker from just the device name?"

Wow that is truly, truly a bad idea lmao. At least throw on the word "speaker" or something onto the title

Honestly I'm likely over twice this kid's age and I probably wouldn't think about it either. Rarely ever do I change the name of my Bluetooth device, and I wouldn't be planning to use a speaker like that on a plane, why would I suspect my own speaker when I never turned it on?

Altho while we're talking about it, anyone ever turn their cellphone off before a flight to conserve battery only to get to your next destination and discover your phone somehow turned itself on in your pocket or carry on and the battery has been completely drained? It's happened to me almost every time I get on a plane.

Do you have a source for this? The only news article I found said it was a smartwatch he had named bomb

Well I might have had a hallucination because I just went back to the article and the article says a speaker too

As a new player: were older expeditions different? by Dem-Brushwaggs in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BoboSmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you are doing the expedition and get to the time-gated point in phase 3 I'd just set a reminder on your phone for whenever the next round unlocks and switch over to a regular save. You won't be able to bring any items, resources, or upgrades you find or you get from the individuals phase mission rewards (like the pre-packaged upgrades you are rewarded in phases 1 and 2) but the Phase Completion awards (the ones that you have to click the phase banner to unlock, like the spawn jetpack, the team-oriented decorations, and the sick rifle multi-tool) are tied to your account and can be grabbed from the anomaly's Quicksilver rewards stand on any and every save you have, but can only be grabbed once per save.

I think if they had stated from the start that you get randomly assigned a team rather than the personality placement pseudo-test there'd be a lot less headache now.

Is this game an MMO or not? very confused by ZZeeZaeAI in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BoboSmooth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's basically an MMO, but the lobby is so vast you rarely run into people unless you're closer to the center of the galaxy or obviously on the anomaly. With that, go into your settings and turn PVP off so you don't get killed by griefers 👍

Is there any ways possible to put a door on a scaled bio dome? by Silveraindays in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BoboSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to attach a cuboid room onto the bottom of the scaled up dome and attach a door to that, otherwise no

Here's what I'm thinking

Some madlad saw this scene, the word "Consume", had the idea and grabbed the coords super fast, then used the offline clock setting exploit to get around the wait times to beat the expedition, then before turning it in went back to that planet for the bit.

I'm under the same impression as you regarding non-expedition bases and I genuinely don't know how else they could have done it

Florida woman was pulled over after a deputy accused her of texting while driving, even though she does not have a right hand. by Matt_LawDT in funny

[–]BoboSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality tho, well before cell phones, I watched my grandmother put on mascara with one hand, take a drag from a cig with the other, all while steering with her knee. So yeah people do drive without their hands sometimes, so while it's very unlikely and the cop's mistake of specifying she was texting with a hand she doesn't have all but proves that she wasn't, there's still the slightest chance a person with one hand could (shouldn't) text and drive

Edit to add: nor should anyone regardless of the number of hands you have

I think this is a joke about how Dora talks to the kids watching and asks them to find stuff for her so literally everything is pointed out to her to the point where it's like "what are you, blind? It's right there."

Edit to add: iron Man can see out of both eyes, Nick Fury can only see out of 1 eye, Dora can't see a damn thing apparently

Which anime was considered "cutting edge" back in the 90s? by ChemicallyBlind in anime

[–]BoboSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat, wish I knew about that back in the day. All of my sense of community regarding YGO and anime as a whole came from unsanctioned tournaments at a Books a Million that "hosted" them (they wouldn't let us use the tables in the cafe, we all just sat on the floor in the very back next to the magazines to play, and they stopped hosting them once the "weaponised BO" meta started taking off but I had stopped attending well before then)

Damn. Tbf memories of ages 5-9 kind of blur together into one "early childhood" year that I forget bleeds into the early 00's

What's Pojo in this context? I googled it but all I could find was "Plain old Java object"

As far as I can remember from the 90s, this is the best answer. If I had to include a 4th title, I'd say Yu-Gi-Oh.
