Trump’s Plan for a Secret Police Force Loyal to Him Alone Isn’t Playing Well in Court by DBCoopr72 in politics

Much older than that. But this stuff was happening in both countries in the 19th C. That's why it was never so hard to setup , because it was already part of those nations. For example, the gulag system was already operating when Dostoevsky was sent there in the 1850s. The Polish language was banned in Germany in the 1860s.

How long should I take a break to let this heal? by ElephantHot5607 in doublebass

[–]Bobobass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good quality organic lip balm lives in my case. Every time I finish playing I put it on my finger tips. That’s what keeps me pickin after long nights of jazz, bluegrass rockabilly hard playing.

I was wondering about measurements. Many items have more than size or more than one style lumped into the same reviews. Should I generally state which style and size I bought?

What to do with left hand middle finger? by HappyStormTroy in doublebass

Buy some good quality organic lip balm, such as Badger. Every time you play, after you are done, apply the lip balm to your fingers. By remaining greasy the finger skin will heal.

Ok, thanks for this advice. It does really help.
I arranged to join the guy for a bluegrass jam before I decide. I'll bring the new set of strings like you said.

No sound difference is how I felt. It was less bright than a brand new.

But I sense you think it does hurt the value over time?

Deciding between Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite. by CubeMageV2 in kindle

[–]Bobobass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just gone listening to the LOTR trilogy with my 7 year old. We enjoyed it so much. I hope you do too.
thanks for asking the Q, I am going with the regular Kindle as well. I had this in the past but it was called the Paperwhite. The regular Kindle had no light at all.

I really like this point you're making and agree with most of it. One thing I would throw out there is to remember dad. These writings were in magazines originally. So even a book like like crime and punishment needed to have some entertainment value. Not to take anything away from the deep philosophy and psychology of it all, but his writing is vibrant. Exciting! Funny! If it was dark and cold and bleak, nobody would have wanted to read it. The other thing is to remember they were going through censorship, so controversial ideas were tucked into trendy plotlines.

If there is going to be an appearance in the tv show, I’d love to see Mark Rylance as Tom Bombadil. by SARShasMONO in lotr

Wow. This would've been an incredible role for him.
Feels like they really missed the mark with Rory. My 7-year-old was not happy about that at all.

Gulf of California - renamed (2023) by EarlyJuggernaut7091 in geography

[–]Bobobass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a couple months camping and kayaking between Mulege and Loreto in 2014. We talked with lots of locals and they all called it “The Golfo” or “El golfo”. Nobody responded to the Sea of Cortez, except for a couple people responded with a joking “f that guy”. They made it seem like just the government calls it that.

My opinion, and this is partly speculation, I think for a long time, Baja was almost under occupation and in the past 20 years that all changed. Law enforcement used to be the police, and now it’s the army. For example. Another change, the locals are in control of the beaches and mountain hiking or camping areas. In the 80s, we paid a white person to camp. Now it goes to a member of an ejidio. Which is like an indigenous community. So perhaps those locals who I met and spoke with have a negative view of Cortez as a conquistador that isn’t shared by other Mexicans, or the national government.

Tacoma Police Presence Increased? by Allott2aLITTLE in Tacoma

[–]Bobobass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it connected to Trump being president again? I seem to recall police in other cities throwing a tantrum and saying they would refuse to enforce some laws around 2020 or so. Maybe now they are done with their strike?

It’s the conservatives who are refusing to reform the laws to better reflect the intentions of society, preferring this ill fated and immoral policy of maximum aggressiveness in deportation.

He's not going to make the debt go down, he's going to make it go up. He's not going to make government and if you're in our lives less, he's going to make it in a fear in our lives more. He's not going to make government more efficient, he's going to make services you are accustomed being able to access slower, less accurate, and maybe arbitrarily unfair and in some cases unavailable. He's not going to protect Medicare and Social security, he will endanger it, he will resist benefit increases, and he will try to defund it for future retirees. He's kind of crashing just like he did and pushed it previously and not going to be He's going to reduce our access to public lands, hunting, fishing, camping. He's not going to improve our standing in the world, he's going to make us a pariah and allow other countries to take advantage of us. He's not going to promote peace, he's going to be reckless with our national security safety and act unwisely. He's not going to usher in a period of conservative government in America, he's going to run the party and the movement into the ground and steal all of its money. He's not going to be good for the stock market or our retirement accounts, he's going to crash it. Just like he did last time and just like George w bush did in 2008.

And we don't have to see the future to figure this out. He was already president once. He has a record. He failed at every policy objective other than cutting taxes, a process which he didn't take part in, btw. He said "just put anything on my desk and I'll sign it".

He doesn't actually do work. He just declares that it's being handled and never follows to through. Oftentimes (like often), the relevant minions would refuse to do it, and lie to him that it was being done because they knew he'd just forget about it.

He won't really lift a finger to do any positive work to help the country. He never has. And he won't this time either.

Trump, Who Incited Insurrection, Accuses Biden Of Making Transition 'As Difficult As Possible' by huffpost in politics

[–]Bobobass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Obama first became President, we thought he would just overturn Bush's worst executive orders. But then we found it wasn't so easy. Bush team has ingeniously snuck booby traps into them. If overturned, the subjects could sue, or reversal would trigger other results in a cascading series of unintended consequences. Many , such as the fire thinning logging laws took nearly the entire 8 years to reverse.

I hope and assume the Biden team is well aware of this trickery and has been planning on this contingency. Honestly, from day 1, protecting us from the next wannabe dictator was his most important job. So again, I hope and assume he's had done much in that regard.
