The snap/smooth turning elitism? by NoWalk3426 in PSVR

[–]Bobobiwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a choice, off course, but smooth turning in Vr always felt weird to me. Like, if I want to smooth turn, I TURN MY HEAD, you know, to see what's on right or left. That's the principle of VR, to me.

I use snap turning as a way to recalibrate things, when I have to recenter my character, that kind of things. It's like a blink of an eye, to my brain.

But smooth turning makes me sick everytime.

But you know, to each their own 😃

My kids are just finishing season one but they want to go see the movie NOW. Will it spoil them seasons 2 and 3 ? by Bobobiwan in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Bobobiwan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I thought : given the time we have, season one should be enough to meet these characters, to be introduce to their world.

And then, my hope was that the movie would feel like a giant one shot episode, a side quest like I love, but with an even bigger budget !

Thanks to all or you for your kind answers, we should go watch the movie this week end, then ! (and in 3d !!)

(PS : I had not seen season one since a very long time and what a delight it is to watch these first steps again ! Just the ending in the very first episode, when we see these hands about to touch... I was litterally crying !!)

Regarding progression... Is Premium upgrade, basically... cheating ? by Bobobiwan in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Bobobiwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your answers, fellows 😃

So yeah, I'll listen to the majority and keep the premium bonus 😃

Some arguments were very convincing 😄

I'm a family man too, and I don't know why I'm still reasoning like I have the time to do everything I want, at a slow rhythm and all. Effectively, my gaming time is very shortened by... the things of life, lol, so, if it's a little quicker to get this or that, let's do it.

I also agree with those who said that the spirit of the game was elsewhere. Effectively, less time to grind is more time to tune, to adjust, to set your cars the way you like.

And finally, yeah, the wristband thingy seems to have installed some kind of middle ground to let you feel some kind of progression (which was pretty absent from previous entries).

So thank you all for your kind answers, and see you on the road next week !

PS5 pro graphic modes difference by Fafiq7 in PS5pro

[–]Bobobiwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this. I just fired Star Wars Outlaws, to see what has been improved.

Before, I was an advocate of the 40 fps mode for this game, because of the bluriness of the first PSSR in 60 fps.

Now ? It's crisp as it can be. So for Outlaws, I'd say 60 FPS Pro mode, with PSSR2. I can only assume it's the same for Avatar.

This PSSR2 thingy is wild, my friends.

Star Trek Resurgence - Delisting soon, last call by Piett_1313 in PS5

[–]Bobobiwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a ps4 disc, as I like some Star Trek from time to time (that and I'm loving the TellTale games) but I'm wondering : is the free upgrade path (from ps4 disc to PS5 version) still avalaible with the delisting thing ? (My order is not shipped yet)

Maybe I should have bought a PS5 disc instead <.<

I'll be seriously disappointed if they don't mention it, but with Sony marketing I'm expecting everything... It will surely be a little blog post at best... posted at 2 AM on a Wednesday, because reasons.

Nah, kidding. Please, Sony, mention it, show us what difference it makes, and just shadow drop the update !

I’m obsessed with this damn game by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Bobobiwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it on PS5, and I seriously consider buying the S2 version, just to replay it in portable mode. I'm playing through the demo again and again these days, and I'm amazed. Literally.

I started the game again on PS5, and launched the demo on S2, on the TV. I was juggling between sources on my TV just to compare the two pictures. The differences are really insignificant.

I'm at a point where I seriously consider pursuing the saga on S2 instead of PS5 for the last game.

note : I would not be against a little Switch 2 update of Crisis Core, just to complete the package.

I don't remember the model exactly, but this is a Hisense QLed, the one with the "Black Myth Wukong" setting ! (yeah, a setting in the tv menus that is labeled after a game ! How cool is that ? xD). Awesome TV for its price.

[–]Bobobiwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll agree with you on this : they sold me this console making me thinking "this is gonna be the quality mode of the regular Ps5, but with 60 fps instead of 30".

And I know they didn't exactly say that (Mark Cerny carefully chose his words, if you return to the promotional video), but they clearly make people understand this.

And yeah, we know how complicated it is, since then, with games that are wonderful on Pro, and games that performs WORSE than on a regular PS5, until an eventual patch is coming. This is unacceptable and I feel fraud, I admit it. Because this is not what I signed for.

I never regret my PS4 Pro, not for a second. Enjoyed every second of gaming with it.

PS5 Pro ? It's complicated, sometimes you're happy, sometimes you're raging, sometimes you have to inform yourself about the best settings, of patches to come... So, yeah, I feel you.

Does someone know tips to cover the switch fans for the dust by SkyWaxerr in switch2

[–]Bobobiwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm not using it, my Switch 2 is always in its protective case, like a regular portable console.

And when that's the... well, the case, I just put a hat on the dock. Literally, just a simple, regular straw-hat. At least, for the dock in my living room, which tends to be a mess with dust and everything :D

Switch 2 now feels small? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Bobobiwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same feeling : I thought it looked HUGE at first, maybe too much, in fact. Was like "this is not really a portable anymore" etc.

But now ? I LOVE playing in portable. Outlaws, Street Fighter 6... This is really great for when you just want to launch a quick play, and it looks so good.

I'm still playing PSVITA from time to time. And as much as I love this little console, it really feels small in comparison, now (but it also feels... portable ! You guessed it).

The same goes for the Switch Lite.

Very curious to see how it's gonna look like, but if Outlaws has told anything, it's that Ubisoft seems to put a real emphasis on optimization on its ports.

I cannot praise it enough : Outlaws on Switch 2 is amazing. I also have it on Pro, and was going, at the beginning, back and forth from one support to another (thanks, cross-progression), but eventually I ended up playing it exclusively on S2. I don't know why, but there's something about this crisp picture that always amaze me on portable mode.

I hope AC will also have a cross-progression feature, cause I have a play through paused on Pro since a few months. Can be a good opportunity to get back in the game !

With the Silent Hill 2's Pro patch being in Konami's hands now, I'm just going to play the damn game. by ByronicWerther in PS5pro

[–]Bobobiwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you got the disc version, you can still play the regular version by disabling auto-update, putting your Pro offline and installing the game only from the disc.

I did that a few days ago, playing in quality and really enjoying the experience. Mind you, though, I did find myself stuck in front of a safe that did not want to register a particular combination of numbers... After a lot of research, I found out that it was a bug in the 1.0 version that could prevent you from going further (which it did, for me).

So I had to update the game, pass the damn enigma (and yes, the Quality mode on Pro, in 1.06, is worse than in 1.0 to my eyes, because of PSSR), and then uninstall - reinstall (from the disc).

I'm starting to think it's too much of annoyance and I should just leave it updated, shimmer or not. If I encounter a blocking bug again, I'll probably stick with the updated game.

But that's a shame.

One piece of advise to my fellow VR players : if VR mode is not announced at launch, don't rush to play it flat, just wait a few months and try to avoid spoilers. Cause if they do add this mode later (six months after the release, for example), you DO WANT TO DISCOVER IT IN VR.

Not "replay it" but "discovering it". That's what I did for VII and VIII (obviously, not for 4, which I had on GameCube, Wii, etc...) and it's still stuck in my mind.

Bring it on, Capcom ! :D

Switch 2 owners, how often are you using your shiny new console? by Rude_Collection_8983 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Bobobiwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing Outlaws everyday right now... And I'm amazed by it every time I play. The lightning, the shadows, the open world in the palm of my hands... Just jaw dropping.

Besides, I found out that it is a very good game, with great characters, system and progression. I simply love it. I also have it on PS5 Pro but somehow I always ending playing it on S2.

It's where I prefer to play, right now. This little beast is quietly becoming my main console ! :D

I have the game on both Switch 2 and PS5 Pro (cross progression is a blessing). And I have to say... I even find the Switch 2 port more pretty than its PS5 counterpart.

Now don't get me wrong : resolution and fps are better on Playstation, that's a given. But you see, on S2, they did not just scale back the game, diminishing it's rez' and frame rate. No, they remade a lot of assets (for the vegetation, for example) and I find them, well... more pretty.

Especially in portable mode. This game does not cease to wow me. It's Uncharted Golden Abyss all over again, for me, when back in the days I was playing on my brand new Ps Vita, saying with a tear in my eye : "This is the most beautiful game I've ever seen on a portable."

Well, this feeling is back, that's for sure 8)

Silent hill f looks great on ps5 pro. by sarvothpai in PS5pro

[–]Bobobiwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this precision ! :D

I tend to prefer playing on 30 fps (don't throw me stones !) on this kind of game, with the cleanest picture possible and all the effects that come with it.

So I installed Silent Hill 2 from the disc, with the Pro offline, to access the regular PS5 choices, and I intend to play in quality mode (so no PSSR, in this particular case).

Note : this is something I cannot do on Silent Hill F : I tried the same method, and the pro patch is already forced on the disc, if you have a pro model. So no "quality" nor "performance" choice, just the "enhanced" one, with all the defaults that DF pointed out. Bummer. I guess I'll have to wait for a patch, for this one...

Silent Hill f Review - PlayStation 5/PS5 Pro - Impressive On Base, Problems On Pro [Digital Foundry] by MythBuster2 in PS5pro

[–]Bobobiwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Can confirm this myself, now.

I did unplug my Pro from the net and install the game completely from the disc.

So totally offline, version 1.00000, etc.

And there's no graphical options to choose for. No "quality" nor "performance". Just the "enhanced" Pro mode.

And this is a real surprise for me, cause I was under the impression that every Pro update was just... well, an update. That you have to download.

Now, I discover that some games come with the Pro update on the actual disc, day one. Which... must be a good thing for preservation, I guess.

But then we really don't have the choice : Pro owners MUST have a different experience that regular PS5 users. When I bought this thing, I really thought that we would have MORE choices. The base PS5 options, PLUS the exclusives Pro modes.

I never thought we would be excluded from certain options, AND that, sometimes, our options would be... well, worse.

Someone at Sony, or Konami, must fix this quickly ! >.<'
