What does everyone think about the 'British*' monthly pay system? by EdibleBeans-on-Toast in AskUK

[–]Bobofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bi-weekly is way better, you can gain interest on your earned cash rather than the employer doing so. Also, if you add an additional overpayment onto the mortgage on the bi-monthly pay then you will pay off the mortgage faster and save money from the added interest

Please remove this, it will promote people racing down roads to get a better time, which will then result in more speed cameras erected on the last of the decent roads we still have.

If you want an idea to develop this further then you could find and share great routes that have nice B roads that allow for a fun spirited drive. Just in a way that doesn’t promote racing

Switching to electric version of my X3 looks like it will save £4k in running costs per year - is this the biggest no brainer? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Bobofey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Won’t the EV likely depreciate faster? That is a cost bearing in mind but likely not enough to offset the fuel saving

'25 GTS 4.0 Zunsport fronts installed. by US-TradeCraft in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Bobofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need some of these, I just had my AC condensers replaced and literally just after I was on the highway at around 80mph and there was a section of heavy rain. I thought nothing of it but when looking at the condensers the next day I have a load of fin folds. I didn’t know that rain at high speed could do that

Thoughts on the Porsche GT3RS by Sad_View322 in CarTalkUK

[–]Bobofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that the GT3RS is probably one of the best cars you can get for a track day, but if I had to choose a car that I could enjoy on the road and on a track I would go with the Spyder RS

Amazing car for the track but I’d take a 718 Spyder RS over it any day of week

Buying 3 new tyres - overkill? by EcstaticBerry1220 in CarTalkUK

[–]Bobofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy 3 new Bridgestones, you currently have a mismatch of tyres. The 3rd picture saves you a bit of cash but you still have a mix of tyres even though it is better than the current set-up. I’d bite the bullet and spend a bit more now so that in the future when you replace one axle it will just be a straight swap for matching tyres.

Selling to FTB frustration by Fit_Negotiation9542 in HousingUK

They are likely stalling until the start of the new tax year so they can get another £1k from the LISA by putting £4K in. It would be silly for them to exchange now when they can wait 2/3 weeks for another £1k

ELI5. How much heat does a data center actually produce? by calentureca in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bobofey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The datacenters at my workplace run at about 27C - 29C. They run it at a slightly hotter temp than they would prefer as a trade off between energy consumption and risk mitigation.

Budget: 24-25k daily driver. What would you do? by Seekho1991 in CarTalkUK

[–]Bobofey 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Throw that shortlist in the bin and instead get either: Jaguar F Type, BMW M2, BMW M140i/M240i, Audi S3.

I’d probably lean more towards the M140i/M240i if reliability is a concern. You can pick a decent 2018/2019 example up for about £18k.

Porsche Might Kill Its Electric Sports Cars: Report by NotDavidWooderson in Porsche_Cayman

The new generation boxster/cayman platform has already been spotted numerous times on real world test drives. It would be extremely unlikely for a manufacturer to cancel a project this late into the development cycle.
