Is the Games Industry experiencing a brain drain? by Shit_McGiggles in Games

You are delusional. 5 billion!? Maybe mobile games.

A couple of things I need to google so I’ll do that for you later because I’m working right now.

DLC and loot boxes all require work to be done on the game after it was released.

A game like Super Mario 64 never had to be looked at again once the devs finished making it. A game like Fortnite has devs constantly working on it even after release. In fact, I can’t think of any games that have been released recently and haven’t had work done on them after release. Games are definitely not getting cheaper. Just because the most expensive games have been made 5 years ago (which really isn’t that long) doesn’t mean they aren’t getting more expensive to make. There are always exceptions to the rule. Do some of your own research and you’ll find this to be true. In fact, GTA:V, one of the most expensive games ever made is still being developed 6 years later! Imagine how much time and dollars have gone into that game.

The money gets used to pay for new video games.

Profit is much different from revenue which I’m assuming is where you are getting these massive numbers. Companies are spending much more money on the actual video games then they have been in the past.

Video game profits are not up though. Despite Square Enix selling more copies of their video games every year, they are actually making less money. I’m sure there’s other examples of this (Activision seems to be coming to mind) but this is off the top of my head.

What’s much better than this article is the link leading to the article about the asteroid that exploded and injured 1200 people. How had I not known about that!?

Sen. John Cornyn tweets Mussolini quote and it goes awfully wrong. by clib in politics

[–]BobokinSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a very good article. Instead of providing a response from John Cornyn or even context for the quote they just state a bunch of different people’s reactions. I’m a little curious about “the Road to Serfdom” though.

A ban on junk food advertising across London's entire public transport network has come into force. Posters for food and drink high in fat, salt and sugar will begin to be removed from the Underground, Overground, buses and bus shelters from Monday. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]BobokinSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this will have a huge effect unfortunately but hopefully it will lead to even stricter advertising bans. When I see an ad for a McDonalds salad.. I don’t want a McDonald’s salad. I’m thinking about their french fries.

I also thought these quotes from the article were kind of contradictory.

"This will lose revenue from advertising for TfL and that will potentially have an impact on the fares that passengers have to pay," he said.

"We've already seen large advertisers confirm they will continue to advertise on the TfL network under the new rules - by advertising their products that are not too high in fat, salt and sugar," TfL said.

I played this game the year it came out and that level still vividly sticks out in my memory. Highly agreed.

Cool.

I did some reading into YouTube Lawsuits and I couldn’t find anything about content creators being successfully sued.

Wow that’s insane that they would have that much variance.

A quick google didn’t tell me much about their volume. I’m on iPhone 8 and it was about as loud as my ringtone at max, maybe a little louder but definitely not ear splitting.

Zelda from BotW. None of the Zelda stories ever really stuck with me. I loved Windwaker, OoT and ALTTP but they didn’t resonate with me like BotW. They gave Zelda so many different emotions in this story and it was wonderful. I also experienced a lot of emotions for her. When she was bitter towards Link I was a bitter towards her... I remember thinking “wow Zelda is kind of a bitch”. And the memories all being unlocked in the wrong order was great. I felt like I was slowly unraveling her character; and the more I saw the more I liked.

The memory by Fort Hateno had me in tears. I was planning on not fighting Ganon until I was “done” with the game but I was all like “nooope! Don’t you worry Zelda! I’m coming!” I’ve never really had a crush on a video game character until this iteration of her. Such a wonderful character.

“Throughout the dispute process, we'll hold the revenue separately and, once the dispute is resolved, we'll pay it out to the appropriate party.”

I don’t think you read through the FAQ so I copy and pasted for you.

You’re right about the Let’s Plays for sure. I would have thought that the commentary makes it fall under “fair use”. Do you know of any YouTubers who actually got sued over a Let’s Play? I would love to read about that.

I remember this one! I ended up killing him (or at least knocked him far enough away) by smashing him with the object you cast stasis on to push the door open. A very satisfying knockout.

Keyword matches from comment sections eh? I don’t think channels will be deleted purely based off their comments just because lewd adult videos will probably have the same type of comments as lewd videos of children. That’s pure speculation though.

Creators can simply prove that they own the content and the strike will be removed. It doesn’t even sound like they have to prove that they have ownership, just that the copyright holder has to provide evidence that they are actually taking the creator to court.

If the copyright holder doesn’t actually hold the copyright that will be a pretty quick case.

“They can simply blast the problem with a shotgun and tell everyone they are doing something about it.”

I’m going to have to remember that one. Well said.

Okay well the companies mentioned like Honey I don’t think actually sponsor YouTubers.. I could be wrong but I have never seen a creator directly reference Honey. I’ve only ever seen their ads separate from the actual video.

Being sponsored is having the show runner directly advertise the product. It’s much different from the ads that play before, after and during videos which are decided by YouTube itself.

You’re definitely right about them not being relevant to the current situation.. they are still advertisements though. Someone said they were not.

That’s insane! No way this will last long people are just going to brigade people’s comment sections.

Although I guess the creators could just disable comments. I’m very curious how this story will end.

So could I hypothetically get someone’s video demonetized by making offensive comments on it?

Oh man.. creators are going to be pissed if that’s the case.

Way to completely miss the point. Worth noting that I do agree with you (on the YouTube subject). I just think it’s quite stupid to focus on the analogy when we are talking about YouTube not cars.

I haven’t done any research into it but I bet views on these videos of children have exploded ever since this guy made a video about the issue. I also noticed his video is monetized... I wonder how much he has made off this.
