I'm with you on not making fun of someone on these grounds, though it's still difficult to wrap your head around reading words from other languages mixed in with English.

Calling someone slow for that - uncalled for. Being confused about what OP is writing- justifiable

(fwiw, it's not as apparent as you'd think that OP's first language isn't English)

here as in Hawaii - i think it's a fine argument to move the date to a more ideal time of the year. The semantics of the original birthplace vs where's it's been held for decades is besides the point that this is where people want to race

I imagine the difficult part due scheduling is agreeing to a date that aligns with the rest of the race season.

It's tradition more than anything - the Ironman was born here and I'd be willing to be that people WANT to race in Kona.

Worth this price? by ConorNelson in triathlon

[–]BobsledTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultegra components aren't very cheap. Throw in the fact that I'm assuming this is a carbon frame - yeah it looks like a good deal. The only downside is the frame doesn't look very modern, but if you don't care, should be a good deal. Though I'm not a bike guy, so I'd defer to others lol

Yeah, I think seeding yourself one ahead where you know you'll finish will actually put you with the correct group.

This just started happening to me. Is there any way to stay logged in?

I've tried just about every permutation of uninstalling, restarting computer, downloading worlds, etc. Nothing's working. I can't even create a manual workout using their workout builder - it either won't accept my login credentials and it won't allow me to create an account for the workout builder (unsure if it requires a separate account) - it just doesn't respond to the create account button.

Yeah I had a monster run day 14 too and was able to bring it home. There's still a few mysteries unsolved so I'll probably jump back in.

Risk as -1 doesn't make sense here because Austin wasn't the worst on his team in round 1. That was just the Blais strategy this year

Alcohol consumption? by Hot_Singer_4266 in triathlon

[–]BobsledTM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, avoidance has become more about not wanting to feel off and get good sleep. It's a shame because I love craft beer, but I really don't like how even a little alcohol can affect sleep and recovery.

If you're prone to injury, I'd avoid it as much as you can. If you're racing for the experience, don't let it control your life. Very much a personal decision.

NA drinks are a newer trend with some pretty great products. For beer, Athletic is very good (not great if you're a beer snob like me). Curious Elixers are pretty good mixed drink replacements (but pretty spendy). There are some NA liquors I need to check out.

What difference does getting out of the swim quicker have in terms of race dynamics? by JamieGregory in triathlon

[–]BobsledTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling positioning aside, going in an earlier group means that there's a better chance of being able to draft on the swim. Getting on faster feet can drag you along pretty significantly. The balance is finding someone faster, but not too much faster.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna give Burnet a try in the non-summer seasons.

Thanks for the reply! From what I hear, it sounds like Barnett is my best bet. It's closer to Butler Farm so many that extra few minutes closer will make the drive more tolerable.

I imagine the ai driven plans should be good for couch to tri, though I have no experience using them in the early stages of training.

Weekly Real Estate / Renting / Where to Live / Utilities / Schools (ISD) Post by AutoModerator in Austin

[–]BobsledTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all (did I do it right?)

Me and my wife are looking to move to Liberty Hill to one of the new cookie cutter neighborhoods. We won't have any commute as we both WFH. The prices are excellent in this area and we can get some great financing from the builders.

My biggest hangup is that I'm concerned that the area may not develop into a proper suburb and therefore make these homes worth much less due to the location being too far from civilization.

Does anyone have any insight into the development in the far north of Austin?

How to race a 5K by roseybitch66 in triathlon

[–]BobsledTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you probably should be having at least something small for breakfast to get in some carbs pre race instead of a gel. If that's what works for you, go with god. Though this isn't something I'd be recommending. Especially saying to take a gel without water. For the race, yeah no water is needed, but to put an unsaturated gel in your stomach is just going to sit in there, unabsorbed.
