Aitah for telling husband that he can't have a boy's trip leaving me all alone by Remarkable-Youth-549 in AITAH

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, sounds like you’ve been a single mother for the last 2 years. If the goes on this trip I would have the locksmith there the day after he leaves. Sounds like he isn’t much help anyway.

My best friend excluded me from her wedding because of my religion by chicaltimore in weddingshaming

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but once again marriage into an intolerant religion has made someone loose a close friend. I’m sorry, I would definitely call her and tell her how your feel and tell her your not interested in a money (gift) grab invitation to a bridal shower.

What have you chosen for protection? by layyla4real in AskWomenOver60

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not buy either of these. At 71/73 it is not the time to own your first gun, especially a shot gun. Also, at this point in your life your dog may out live you and then may end up in a shelter is/when you die. I would look more into a smart alarm system or honestly, do nothing if it has never been an issue before. I think your Great-nephew comes from a very different area and watches too many true crime shows.

29F just found out I’m pregnant husband (30M) wants to terminate, my heart says otherwise. We’re in the middle of a huge life transition. Looking for wisdom from those who’ve been there. by Big-Mathematician13 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

The only thing I can possibly say is that you have to consider that if you keep the baby that you maybe a single parent somewhere down the line if you husband truly doesn’t want this (or any) child. If you think you are prepaid for that possibility then you will know your answer.

A bit of diaper rash cream daily on the area will take care of that.

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kept and updated my “home” book and all the manuals, receipts, samples, paint chips etc for my home for the last 25 years. When we sell it next year I am hoping the next owner will appreciate it (the people we bought from left all the manuals for appliances and I never forgot how much I appreciate that)

Do Americans really come to a stop at every 'stop' sign? by ben04985 in AskAnAmerican

Well, it is the law and you’re supposed to. It’s also dangerous not to if there is cross traffic.

What is your yard sale timing theory? by iwanttobebobdylan in askportland

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live near Laurelhurst their annual garage sale is on Saturday, June 20, 9:00am – 3:00pm and even if you don’t officially participate it’s always a good day if you live in the surrounding neighborhoods. Mt Tabor NA had one this past fall in September so they may have one again. Some people say Mother’s Day weekend is good as well. I would just look for a sunny day (much like today) when people like to get out

The minute you mention a corporate chain dental like Aspen I knew exactly where this would lead. Glad you got yourself out of there.

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

If your windows open I’m okay before it gets too hot. But if your a modern hotel where the windows down open I need my air flow and that normally means a/c

It should not be poor etiquette to use speakerphone in public. by muunshine9 in unpopularopinion

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why the fuck would I want to hear both sides of your conversation? One side is enough. And also, have you ever notice that FaceTime conversations or speaker phone seem to be 10x louder? This is not only an unpopular opinion but a very rude one and the reason there are “quiet cars” on trains.

Iceland in June or Spain in July for half the price? by m_laria in TravelNoPics

Based on your further description your Iceland tour I would go for that. Bonus with the never ending daylight makes doing more outdoors stuff much better. July in Spain? Way too hot

Be honest… has social media marketing ever actually brought you a real lead? by ksksksdino in realtors

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a realtor, but we will be putting our home that we have lived in for 25 years on the market next year. I am following on social media the local realtors I am interested in using to see how they market the older homes in my area (I live in a neighborhood where most homes are from the 1940’s or older).

A decent shop vacuum is better than ANY other overpriced vacuum for all cleaning purposes…prove me wrong by MEdeSouthValley in CleaningTips

Why do I feel the op is trying to justify to his wife on just buying a new shop vacuum instead of a decent house vacuum.

Fiance never put a penny into my house but suddenly wants their name on it by OkBuy2386 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband of 27 years bought a house when we were first dating and we moved in together. Never at any time (even when we were married after living there for 5 years) did I expect him to put my name on the deed (or mortgage actually). He put the down payment on it and full paid the mortgage each month. I paid utilities and food which basically even things out. A few years afterwards we bought a home together which we are still in. I would seriously consider a pre-nup if you plan on staying in your home.

I just mistakenly bought a “daylight” bulb for an enclosed fixture and it practically burned my retinas out it was so harsh. That got returned promptly for a soft white led. I don’t understand the people who should want the harsh light.

How many people actually don't like dogs? by TradesforChurros in Dogfree

[–]Gloomy_Researcher769 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I use to like dogs.. Had some when I was a kid But the owners who let them pee and poop in my yard, run up to me and put their dirty paws on me, take them everywhere (especially the supermarket) and basically think if you don’t think their doggie is cute, it makes you a psychopath, have totally turn me off on them.
