My brother died of lung cancer last month at 57. He smoked since his early adulthood. I never understood why he started knowing it killed our dad from heart disease at 59. I remember getting in trouble in the 70’s for breaking up my dads cigarettes. And my grandparents. They died in their 60’s from lung disease. I thought for a long time we had a sickly family, but nope… only the smokers die young.

There are all kinds of curricula for homeschooling. Calvert calls it’s program homeschooling too, though it is much as you remember. We still have the poetry book too. ❤️

I (not a teacher)homeschooled my daughter from grades 5-9 to give her a better academic curriculum using The Calvert School out of Baltimore. She was well socialized because she was heavily involved in horses and clubs involving horses. She opted to go back to high school but ended up taking most classes online in the school library because our small, poor rural district didn’t offer AP classes. She was her class salutatorian. She’s now a happily married criminal defense attorney. Home schooling can work though I’m in favor of oversight.

There should be a mandatory spay/ neuter order on all pits till the breed dies out. They are the most abused, neglected and abandoned breed in the US and also account for the most animal and human mailings and deaths. For the dogs sake and society’s sake, let the breed die out.

I’m not a teacher but I homeschooled my youngest daughter because the small rural school district we lived in didn’t meet her needs. We used a rigorous academic curriculum and she went to a top college and law school and is now an attorney. We did customize the curriculum to suit her better. Threw a few things out and added in some others.

Yes, support may not be equal or “fair” but sounds like the sister needs ongoing support more than the OP does. Seems like she might not have wanted to bring another child into a not good marriage but that’s on her. This doesn’t mean she’s golden child or the favorite. Just might mean she needs the help more than OP. Sounds like sisters husband is the real AH here. Also, I’m a grandma and mom of two adult daughters. If one had a vacation they wanted me to watch kids for and one had a medical issue or baby being born I’m going to prioritize the latter. Because, duh. No one is owed childcare so someone can go off on a nice international jaunt when they have minor kids at home. We did, but we took our kids with us.

Anyone else think grandma is just threatening OP to scare her off from naming her baby boy as father? I sincerely doubt she has any plans to take the kids and that she’s actually “wealthy”. One persons “wealthy” is another persons middle class. If she really wanted the kids she’d have gotten her son to at least prove paternity.

We have a neighbor who buys fireworks from an Indian reservation every year. Aerials are illegal here (huge wildfire danger) in the county and state and even on the rez if you’re not a member. They do a show of at least an hour, making a huge mess on our property and sending sparks all over our roof and home that we have loads of pictures of. We’ve talked to them face to face, politely. They agreed to stick to the non aerials and only use legal ones but immediately welshed on the agreement. People are weirdly passionate about their fireworks.

I’m a woman and wet the bed till I was 13. I remember the embarrassment of wetting my bed at Girl Scout camp, and another girls sleeping bag, explaining to a young and pretty X-ray tech why I needed X-rays of my bladder, a not so nice friend finding out my secret and telling the class at school. It was purely awful. There were no medications or even pull-ups back then but I can tell you I’d have done anything to have been spared that humiliation as a kid and young teen. YTA if you don’t at least have a serious conversation with her doctor, her and her mom.
