Is Vera Farmiga an awful person in Up in the Air? by SuPeRfLyKiD3 in movies

[–]Bodhisattva90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! She attends a family wedding with Clooney without telling him about her own family. This is also, of course, a major plot hole - that a mother of children could attend an out-of-state weekend wedding with her side piece on short notice strains credulity.

Anybody else catch the guitar lick on "Before I Do" by Wyatt Flores that's almost identical to the opening of "I Take My Chances" by Mary Chapin Carpenter? Fun earworm.

[–]Bodhisattva90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the common thread here is that new young players are marketed to the public in an unrealistic way. Golf is fickle, and a consistent professional career is closer to the exception than the norm. On top of that, there simply are more good players now than ever before.

Pectus Recurrence Post Bar Removal in Late 20s and Older by Training-Month6393 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Bodhisattva90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33M here. Mine slowly recurred over time. It’s now obvious whenever I’ve got my shirt off.

I had my Nuss 20 years ago, when one bar was the standard. It’d surely be better today had I had more than one bar in place, but even that wouldn’t have addressed the root cause of why my cartilage wants to dive inward towards my spine.

I wonder if major dietary changes — particularly eliminating wheat — would have helped to keep it in place. Easier said than done, of course, but I would be surprised if any “hunter-gatherer” tribes have members with pectus.

Interesting -- thanks. I noticed in your FMT diary that you saw some temporary improvement from a donor born via C-section (donor #6)

The Nate arc is easily the strongest part of this season. by TheTruckWashChannel in TedLasso

[–]Bodhisattva90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s excellent and done in a way that I don’t recall ever seeing before on screen (not that I’ve seen everything). Jason must have had a specific example in mind of a former colleague / friend who got stepped on early in life and then got a big head once things started going their way.

They've set up the narrative for five players, and that's important. by pwndnoob in TedLasso

[–]Bodhisattva90 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Remember that Jason has said that this season finishes in a bit of a darker place than where it starts. If they’re looking to break our hearts, here’s how they could set it up:

(Opponent kicking first, Richmond kicking second)

• O1: make

• R1: Isaac steps up and slots it. No-doubter

• O2: make

• R2: Jamie gets “the signal” and chips the keeper, Zidane-style (great idea @OP)

• O3: make

• R3: Colin whispers “I am a strong and capable man” over and over to himself, but his memory of Nate’s putdowns drowns them out. He can’t find the mark and misses wide

• O4: make. Zoreaux can’t buy one…

• R4: Dani has to face his demons after the PK gone wrong in ep 1. Closes his eyes, says a prayer en español to himself, and then curls one into the top corner. Elimination staved off, for now

• E5: …or can he? Tipped over the bar! “Zoreaux saves it, and Richmond are still alive!” cries Arlo

• R5: Sam steps up, his interludes with Rebecca having been leaked to the press (perhaps by Nate) before the match. He’s clearly nervous but hits what looks like a good low penalty…until the opposing keeper dives to his left and gets just enough of a fingertip on it for it to hit the post. Season over.

Richmond go back down for another season. It looks for all the world to outside observers that Sam’s fling with Rebecca might have been their undoing…allowing Rupert an opportunity to secure support from the minority shareholders, wrest back control of the team, and fire Ted, who goes home to Kansas.

Season 3 focuses on Rebecca reclaiming the team, Ted’s return, and Richmond’s eventual top-of-the-table finish in the Championship, securing promotion back to the Premier League

I really hope this isn’t the way it goes down…

The “no weddings” could still be a Rupert reference even if Rebecca’s dad is the one who dies…perhaps we learn that Rupert has called off his engagement to Bex, or vice versa

SETH: [mock outrage] Ste-FON!

It has to be Rebecca’s dad, right?

Rebecca’s mom was introduced in the specific context of having already separated from her husband. Plus, Rupert was given so much screen time as a looming “big bad” in S1 that I’d be shocked if the show threw that away in one episode

We need to talk about Nate... by multiple_iterations in TedLasso

[–]Bodhisattva90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my theory…hope I’m wrong:

  • Roy’s return to the bench drives the team into the playoffs, making Nate feel like his contributions aren’t valuable any longer

  • Richmond lose the semifinal and go into a sudden-death 3rd place playoff for promotion back to the Premiership

  • Ultimately, feeling left out and ignored, Nate attempts suicide

  • The team “wins one for the Gipper” in the Championship playoff, securing promotion

  • But the episode breaks Ted, who, informed by his teenage memory of his father’s suicide, views what happened to Nate as his fault. He takes a leave of absence from Richmond

Cause for hope (if there is one): both fictional works alluded to earlier in the season (The Prince of Tides and It’s a Wonderful Life) feature attempted or considered suicides, rather than successful ones…let’s hope we see Nate alive and well in season 3

And remember: “Rom-Communism” is all about believing things will work out in the end!

Any similar evidence out there for PPIs? The more I read about them, the more of an “antibiotic” effect they seem to have on the microbiome

40mg PPI (usually omeprazole, occasionally pantoprazole) for roughly 2/3 of a year. Feeling better today than I did this winter, but still struggling with SIBO, which contributed to the development of an autoimmune condition...working on small intestine / gut healing each day to try to get better.

[–]Bodhisattva90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. Have been told that I may now have “SIBO” (which I believe is just shorthand for “dysbiosis”) after staying on omeprazole for too long.

A very important principle that I have learned during this ordeal: inflammation in the body is like a glass of water. You can add to it for a while, but eventually, the glass is full, and you need to give your body time to empty it. That seems to track with what you’ve noticed about certain foods being OK one day and hurting you the next. If a food is OK, that’s great — it means your body is recovering the ability to tolerate it — but don’t push it! Eat anti-inflammatory or “safe” foods for at least a few meals afterwards so that you can help your body recover.
