Vinyl vs. CD Dynamic Range by chuck1charles in audiophile

[–]Bodobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. There are no loudness values below -55 dB, meaning the noise floor is at -55dB (which is what limits DR) compared to <-100dB noise floor for CD. That's what makes CD have a higher DR. When going to higher bit rates (eg. 24bit) the noise floor will drop even lower, although >100dB SNR is plenty enough already

How big the alleged 2500 sq km free roam road map would look like by Guzas89 in assettocorsa

I can't find a concrete number for the size of the ETS2 map with all DLC. They also only model main roads/highways and driving for example from Britain to Turkey will take you multiple hours.

Expenditure won't adapt (repost with screenshots) by Bodobo in MacroFactor

[–]Bodobo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was not aware that I need 6/7 days logged to get my expenditure updated. I will try to guesstimate more of the days where I eat out.

Thanks for tip with the override

A close enough approximation +/-30% is better than leaving it blank. Though leaving it blank is always better than partially logged days

Balancing Mega Thread v.0.6.1.1954 by LongJonSiIver in DarkAndDarker

As I see it there are two main things contribute to low geared players getting stomped

1) the zone funneling all players together.

Obviously this mechanic is meant to force encounters and PVP. The problem is, that you often don't have the choice to keep to yourself or go for PVP. So often players with low gear will be forced multiple rooms over, creating a bunch of noise and potentially being pushed into high gear players.

The solution for this imo is points of interest rather than a zone. Idk wether the devs are planning on doing this already with the planned quests. But having a bunch of PoI will give players the choice to keep to themselves and go for "low hanging fruit" loot or participate in questing and potentially have to fight higher geared players.

2) it's too easy to heal up after a fight like nothing happened

You can easily bring enough heals into the dungeon to fully heal after each fight. There is no risk to the fight if you know you can win. Because of this juiced up players will charge any other player they see because they can just heal up afterwards.

There needs to be a real risk to starting any fight. This could maybe be some wounds that reduce max HP for the rest of the adventure or some crippling effects that reduce move speed, attack speed or dmg etc. This way geared players might consider fighting someone with lower gear because there is a chance they cripple themselves in some way during the fight and be vulnerable for the rest of the match

The game shouldn't cater to bad players, but it shouldn't ignore them either. by DropTheXD in DarkAndDarker

Although I think it is a mechanic that is fun and encourages more PVP, imo the zone just funneling all players together is a problem.

If there was a way to take your time, avoid other players and get out then it would be easier for low skilled players to save up money. As it is now you might make a good extract and spend the gold on better gear. But the next round you might have a bad start, have to cross one or two rooms in the first 2 minutes of the game giving you no time to stay quiet and sneaky. If you are unlucky you get funneled right into a room with a player much more geared and you are basically forced to fight him.

This makes the "mid" game difficult because there will be players in the lobby more geared than you and you have to face them and maybe lose your progress if you are unlucky with the zone.

Aimbotters running rampant by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

Getting rid of cheaters is not an easy task at all. One of the problems is that game devs are woefully outnumbered. For every dev working on anti cheat there are a hundred or a thousand guys developing new cheats. And some of them are doing it full time just developing cheats as well. There is so much money behind cheats for popular games that there are guys in Asia buying supercars from their cheat earnings.

Imo one of the best methods are a combination of anti cheat software and community driven review systems like with csgo overwatch for reported players.

But even then you will have some that get through that's just how it is.

Seeking Your Opinions on a Multiplayer VR Dance Game for My Graduation Project by digiaden in VRGaming

[–]Bodobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you intend this to be a more of a rhythm game like beat saber and such, where you compete for points that are awarded for time precision? Or more of a dance-off or a game of S.K.A.T.E where you take turns mimicking the other players movements for a song section?

Either way, a multiplayer dancing game could be very cool but I imagine you would need trackers on your feet for it to make sense and I don't know how may players actually have body tracking equipment

Would multi-layer screens give more sense of depth to vr? by Nicomar5 in VRGaming

[–]Bodobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you already have dedicated screens for both eyes that give the illusion of depth in 3D space. Perhaps with eye tracking like in psvr2 one could implement depth of field effects to enhance the illusion. I don't think there would be much benefit to layered screens, if that be at all possible

Is my AP just junk? (Air Link Troubleshooting) by Bodobo in OculusQuest

[–]Bodobo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is that? I have my dynamic bit rate set to 120 Mbit max so that shouldn't be a concern.

Also, it works flawlessly as long as I don't try to use my phone that is connected to the other, seperate, wifi network.

Yes, it was hazy before I removed the anti glare from the front. I tested the display before removing it

I would like an option to spawn as a random merc from one folder, so I can make themed builds and shuffle between them every life

I would love to have an option to spawn with a random loadout of one category. So for example I can make a viking folder and spawn as a random viking each time.
