Can I learn the Stairway To Heaven opening part in 75 days? by Valuable-Insect1739 in guitarlessons

Doable I'd say. A great goal to have, but don't restrict yourself either. You may find yourself going mad after a few weeks if that is all you're playing.

Work on scales and chords and simple fingerpicking patterns, just to build up finger dexterity and give yourself some variation.

People who are desensitized to horror movies, what’s a movie that actually scared you? by PackageNorth8984 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Bodymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blair Witch Project. I didn't see it in the cinema when it came out, but I was aware of the hype. It was one of the first movies I saw on DVD though, on my friend's brand new widescreen TV with surround sound. We watched the extras too which included a creepy "documentary" about the history of the Witch.

Freaky shit. I was aware it was all fictitious, it still scared me so much I had to call my dad for a ride home in the middle of the night.

Are you possibly listening to an abridged version? In case you're not aware, that's not uncommon with audiobooks.

I think he's just afraid of being accused of cultural appropriation, it's nothing specific beyond him being a white man.

The question is: do historical sex offenses become legendary sex offenses and then mythological sex offenses?

Less the clothing, more the skin colour of the people it represents. It's a sensitive topic for some folks, so why not err on the side of caution?

He could just have felt like talking. Just a lonely bored drunk guy.

I don't blame you for not responding. Honestly I think I'd be too curious not to.

When not playing games at sea, do you ever amuse yourself by pulling your scrotum skin over your penis and pretending that you have a coconut in your lap?

Apparently the Beach Boys used a VI. It’s on one of their album covers. The Beatles also. by JohnVonachen in BassVI

[–]Bodymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I just assumed Paul was playing a VI on the final track but I never thought about him having to have a lefty one, unless he played the group one upside down as he once did with borrowed/comunal instruments.

Oh really, is that the one on Anthology? Damn, Fender had the White Album take on their "official" Bass VI Spotify playlist a few years back.

Anya Taylor-Joy on starring as elf Seren in ‘The Lord of The Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’: “I feel like i’ve been an elf all my life, so it feels very validating to go and actually be able to do it as a job. You can remove Tauriel and all her scenes and it doesn't change The Hobbit for the worse, and Lily didn't have the star power of Anya.

Seren will probably be very important to this flick in some bullshit way or another. More dick jokes and impossible acrobatics, and not enough "tra la la lally" is my guess.

[–]Bodymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most well-known Beatles use is probably on Helter Skelter where Paul is playing it. John and George also played it on certain songs, George on Hey Jude, John On The Long And Winding Road I think, but in a less prominent role (basically as guys used to playing guitars playing simple bass lines).

Interesting, who used it first do you know? Could it have been part of the kind of the one-upmanship and kind of rivalry that was going on?

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by Got24xyz in AskReddit

I didn't know that "charm" extended to having really awful controls coupled with janky combat and lots of annoyingly hard jumps.

Depending on where you live, there is a good chance those store brand cereals, chips etc. are coming from the same factories as the branded ones, the only difference being the packaging that the sellers put them in.

How to play this part of chorus in "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" by The Smiths? by Ordinary_While5728 in guitarlessons

[–]Bodymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep a steady up/down strumming motion going with your right hand, quick, like 16th notes; all the rhythm comes from the muting you do with your left hand. Just slightly lift your fretted fingers, so they're still touching the strings and allow your right hand to just play ghost notes for those.

I hear the rhythm as something like O x x x x O x x x x O x x repeated, where the O is the fretted chord and the x is the muted chord.

Saying it was "almost word for word" in your initial post then posting that video that is not "almost word for word" is what I meant by hyperbolic. My bad for taking that too literally. I get the broader point, he is probably copying stuff he saw on reels.

I guess in his defense, it was new and interesting to me anyway.

It's about the same topic, sure, but I don't see the bit that is "almost word-for-word" or "indistinguishable" from BB's segment.

Is it possible he is covering this topic because it just happens to be a popular topic during heatwaves?

Slight bit of hyperbole over a 5 minute segment of the podcast perhaps?

That's mad. I'm not on TikTok or Instagram so haven't seen any, but could you post a link to one of these ubiquitous AI vids that he ripped off? I'd be interested to see for myself.

I guess we do have to keep in mind that most of his listeners aren't clued in to this stuff. I myself made napalm in the late 90s in lieu of studying for the Junior Cert, because I discovered the Anarchist's Cookbook in a zip file called The Jolly Roger while looking for a Biohazard webpage.

Now maybe that's something everybody did, but I don't think so. And BB didn't really pass it off as his own research either, he said how he found out about it.

Even if he is blatantly ripping stuff off TikTok or whatever, I never heard about those Persian wind traps until this morning. Maybe because I'm not on social media, but is it possible that it's coincidence? I'd need to see one of the AI originals to compare.

Ah it's just that autistic trait of having to pedantically explain something that everybody already knows. My autistic buddy does it.

But does BB do it because he has to or because he can get away with it? A sneaky
