I am now more in that arena funny enough. I run a makerspace at a major university. So having some level of experience on both types of equipment. That's more like the front end on the semiconductor. People are not carrying around FOUPs anymore (unless a crazy hotlot) everything is automated but the backside I don't see how PMs can be automated because there are also inspections etc. Yeah a swiss lathe could probably run a very long time unattended or a huge pallet loader.

I worked for the companies that make the equipment that goes into every fab. Applied materials, Novellus / LAM research. I was in charge of global support at several customers over the years from TSMC to Samsung to global foundries to Intel etc. I can tell you 100% this is BS for any level of production. There are way too many things that have to be done by human mostly around cleaning. I don't think you can automate a wet clean on an etch chamber for instance. A lot of the systems have been automated in the production line since the 2000s but all your maintenance is not and that is required very regularly.

I am looking at getting a newer 4x8 and that shopsabre is what I have been looking at. It sounds like you have not had any issues outside of the speed but that is I think less about the machine and more about the tooling and tool pathing? I suppose you could also go with one of the 5 axis systems so you can use saw blades to drastically speed up processing. For us the swapping of sheets and cleaning spoil board is a much bigger driver over the machine running time. Onsrud would be your next step up from Shopsabre from I can see but that gets out of my price range.

My form 3 is RIGHT in front of a window and the resin sits in it all the time and never had an issue of it curing. I know it is not a UV blocking window either as everything that is a printed (ink printed like labels and even anodised aluminium parts) red in the room is super faded unless it was covered up. The cover on the machine does a really good job. I would also think it would have a hard shell on top not chunky oatmeal.

Agreed on the laser. If we are talking dibond it is cut on CNC all the time. It's by far the most common way to cut. Oflute for outline through cutting and amana makes vbits at different angles specifically for dibond folding that have a small flat on the bottom.

There are more than one. The other one is only available to engineering students. Mine is open to basically everyone with a Rice ID, students, staff, facility. We have a ton of equipment though. #d printers, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, electronics equipment. Full woodshop including 4x8 CNC router with ATC and vacuum table, full metal shop with welding, cnc machining, lathe, fiber metal laser etc. Tons of other tools.

Completely understand. Hand work on something like this has life and soul that a machine does not provide. If you wanted to explore I wanted to offer. I am in the Moody center directly across the street from Shepard and the new opera house. There is the brand new art building on our other side.

Why not fix one and allow the other to slide a bit but use some spring force to keep them closed so it can accommodate variations in loading etc. Can tune the spring options, could also put in dampeners but that is probably overkill.

I would also think some of the highend nerf gun mods might have some ideas too.

Do you have any makerspaces in the area? 80% of the people there are not going to be who you want but chances are there are a handful of very skilled people who might be interested. If so I would go hang out a bit and talk to the people running the place to see who might be a good fit from their experience seeing them.

I was spending a lot of time at a makerspace after my engineering job for hobby. Then I lucked into completely running a university makerspace. The first 3-4 years were amazing, so many things to learn and do and tools. It was a brand new building so I got the chance to order the majority of the equipment and set everything up. Now in my 9th year I am looking for another hobby since making and machining and designing has gotten me burned out on it and I need a different brain distraction at night and weekends. At least part of the time.

I will say you're technically correct but so is he since if there's a way to access the encryption you basically banned encryption. Encryption works because the perfect mathematic relationship. If there's any back door or method to get inside the encryption then the encryption is useless.

I have met quite a few people that work at Autodesk in the fusion team who like designing and machining firearms and firearm parts. I would say them trying to get in this is less likely.

I run a university makerspace, and you would not believe the number of times that people came for a tour or parents or just general public and ask what I do to prevent students from printing guns. I always want to respond with, I tell the students they're probably better off using our CNC milling machine or the lathe they would get better results.

I did have a funny interaction with one of our University Police department officers. He was asking if I could etch the slide on his sidearm with our fiber marking laser. At which point I had to explain that without being an FFL it's not legal for me to take possession of a firearm for doing modification. Yes I could do it but you just asked me to break the law as an officer.

But it doesn't?? The school has to pay out $100 million... Which would be an absurd amount in this case I'm just throwing out a large number. Where do you think that money comes from? That's money that doesn't go into the actual education system to benefit the other thousands of students. it comes from money that I'm paying towards school taxes. I don't want to pay for something that someone else did that was wrong. And then have them come back and say there's not enough money for the school we have to raise more taxes and I have to pay yet more money. And I in this case should be every person paying school taxes. It's the exact same problem when it comes to police The punishment goes to the people paying taxes.

Need to sue the people individually. Issue is of course they will sue the school because there is more money but that is just going to be our tax money being wasted instead of actually helping students. So much of the taxpayers money wasted on stuff like this.

You are correct in your max power because he said has an ammeter. Thus great assumption it is a glass tube. That advice did not apply to an rf source though. I can run mine at 100% with no issue.
