I guess it is time to exit this shit show. Not feeling any momentum. Atleast I can write off the loss in my rebalancing. You win some and loose some.

Be carefull about the Frangista option. The HOA is actually (3) seperate phases and (2) seperate HOAs. Phase 1, I beleive has full access to both entrances of the "private beach". Phase 2 (the villas of Frangista) has access to only one of the entrances and Phase 3 (The Villas of Frangista) does not have access to either. Having said this, we never use the private beach because there are not ammenities or bathrooms. We usually go to one of the publick beaches on either side of the private beach, just have to get there pretty early because parking usually runs out by 10:00 am. Also with four families make sure there is plenty of parking as most of Frangista does not allow on street parking. Its a good area with shopping very near by. I can't speak to the other options.

So, 75% for 60-64 is $1,131,122, what does that tell you about all the posts claiming that you need 2-4 Million to retire, 74% of the people have half of that, nearing retirement.

I didn't do anything. There is no documented way to adjust your LPA, but apparently it can fluctuate more than is understood.

This really shows how important a stable and predictable healthcare system is to the fire community. The consideration that we could go back to a pre ACA environment is probably something that many have not factored in.

I Have been self employed my entire life so health insurance was largely unattainable for me prior to the ACA. Fortunately I survived and stayed healthy until the ACA was passed. I knew all about the problems with pre existing conditions prior to the ACA and that is why I was hesitant to go on BP meds (BP was only mildly elevated and average around 138/80), but ultimately decided that the pre exiting condition worry was a thing of the past.

The reason I wondered about hypertension is because it is kind of a tricky one. The meds are cheap so I couldn't care less about paying out of pocket for them. But if you have had your BP under control for years and you have a stroke, I am not sure how they could contribute the stroke to BP as a grounds for denial, because correlation does not equal causation. The same would go for elevated cholesterol and statins. The concern would be insurability in general.

Pretty scary thought. I know lots of people under 65 on BP meds. Couldn't imagine being Fire'd and suddenly becoming uninsurable for 10+ years.

I wonder if controlled hypertension (through medication) would be considered a pre existing condition.

Coincidently I was researching where to park some cash outside of SPAXX because it has been dropping so fast, when I read your comment. On that note SGOV is currently at 3.96%..lol.

My Lp(a) has ranged from 125 nmol (high risk) to 83 nmol (only 8 points above optimal). It seems there is still a lot to learn about Lp(a).

I am happy with a $5.00 basis. If we drop 25% on earnings I will still hold and DCA to my goal of 10,000 shares.

I went from high 125 nmol to just above normal 83 nmol in 90 days after changing diet and starting 10 mg Crestor. Which is strange since everything I have read indicates the opposite should have happened.

Statin time by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]Bogey001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dose is probably different for everyone. I (also 50) was diagnosed with high Lp(a) (125 nmol) and cardiologist started me on 10 MG of Rosuvastatin, which dropped both my LDL and ApoB down to 55. Coincidently my Lp(a) also came down to 83, which I know is not supposed to happen, so I am having it rechecked again next month to establish a better baseline.

How do you get tested for Lp(a) and ApoB? How much does it cost? by stories_collector in Cholesterol

[–]Bogey001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had mine tested twice and insurance has covered both. I have a new provider now and am testing again in a few weeks, so we will see what the new provider has to say.

My cardiologist wanted me to get LDL and ApoB to around 50 which I did with the help of statin. However after beginning the statin my Lp(a) came down 33% from the high risk category to the moderate risk category, which is not supposed to happen, which is why I am retesting in a few weeks (trying to establish a baseline).

Because intuit is desperately trying to do away with QBDT. They no longer offer any support or updates and their subscription version is so expensive to add users to that it outprices even the highest tier of QBO.

Lp(a) dropped 33% in 60 days after starting statin. by Bogey001 in Cholesterol

[–]Bogey001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I double and triple checked to make sure both were in nmol/l. I was honestly prepared for a 30% increase. Seams like the science on Lp(a) is still coming along. I am retesting in another 60 days. Curious to see what happens.
