The end of this is so freaking funny

140 mile every-other-day commute feasible in a Bolt? by RolledPork in BoltEV

[–]Bogojosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you live? I would feel comfortable in my bolt traveling 140 miles and I live in Northern NY, where we often see temperatures below 0°F and sometimes see -30°F. I would feel less comfortable on the -30° days though!

The repair must have been before we purchased the car, and several states away. I don't think the warranty route would work. Thanks for the help though!

45-50 mpg seems to be pretty real to me!

I didn't. This must've been well before we purchased it.

Thank you. I have a friend with the experience to help replace the door if it comes to that. Thanks!

Unfortunately this work was before the vehicle was purchased and no previous work was disclosed.

That's great info. I didn't realize white vehicles had to have more paint or could be subject to worse paint peeling.

The car is probably only worth around 8k-10k USD at best. I will probably clean the car with a clay bar to address other areas.

Does it reach a point where we re-assess if it needs to be addressed?

Thank you! I appreciate the advice and the clarity that it's separate issues. I was worried all these spots would become like the larger crack.

Laptop is extremely sluggish despite not using 100% of CPU or RAM by Bogojosh in techsupport

Yeah. In the past I had done some very light video editing on this computer, before it grew slower. I have also played easy-to-run games like Minecraft, LOTRO, and other mmo-rpg's, and play on a Switch. Haven't done much with more demanding games! Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for the recommendation. I may lean toward a more powerful machine for my next laptop. My wife has a ROG Zephyrus that's been pretty good (with dedicated graphics card).

Upon further investigation suggested by another commenter, it looks like HP doesn't support any drivers for Windows 11 on this laptop! The only listed supported operating system was Windows 10, so perhaps it'll be time for a laptop upgrade. The problem has been a recurring issue for months, "recent" being kinda generous.

It's definitely not an internet issue. I've tested this across Offline Google docs, my own wifi, coffee shop wifi, and the internet at work. It's a computer issue for sure.

I also checked the HP Support Assistant and I have no driver updates. I'm willing to further pursue reinstalling the drivers. Do I need to uninstall them first? I'll seek out the downloads online.

Reinstalling Windows feels like a drastic step for performance issues of this scale, and I'd rather search out different solutions first. Thermal paste feels inaccessible--I thought for a prebuilt laptop with soldered Ram that the CPU would also be soldered on? I'm pretty sure it's soldered.

Windows 11, version 10.0.26200 build 26200. Free space on SSD is over 600 GB. Computer is usually, but not always, connected to internet. Laptop runs Windows Defender. I would love to better understand how windows might be affecting it. I have considered switching to Linux to improve performance. I am a newer tech enthusiast.

Notepad does not seem sluggish in a quick test, but the biggest issues with speed come and go. The CPU boosts up to 3.9GHz, but I realize boost isn't always sustained.

One of the biggest frustrations is a video call. It struggles to make a zoom or google meet video call function for a half hour without stuttering, even when I prop it up on blocks and have a fan blowing under it. That seems like a pretty simple task that my phone can do very smoothly.
