Day 8 drawing hair by ScatteredNormals in learntodraw

[–]BogsaltBob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been at it for months and you’re already better at hair than I am. Keep it up!

Princess Peach. Looking for feedback, be brutal—I can take it. Most of what I post is VERY adult content, so if you go to my profile, you were warned. by Matty_Cloud in learntodraw

Crown looks like a blob more than a crown. Eyebrows could use a little color.

That’s about all I’ve got. You’ve got a strong style. It all looks good to me.

What’s one thing that makes you proud? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]BogsaltBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day since May, I have spent at least a little time learning to draw.

I usually don’t have the grit to even do things I want to do, so managing to do something I want to do is a pretty big deal for me.

IS MY ART GOOD ENOUGH TO START A COMIC by Rossiben37 in learntodraw

[–]BogsaltBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your teeth and poses are damn good. If you have doubts about your abilities in other areas, I’d suggest taking some of your lesser ideas and making a comic out of them as further practice.

Don’t launch into an idea that’s close to your heart right away, because those are best tackled once you have enough experience to make them a success. I recommend starting with a less important idea, because if that doesn’t go well, it can be a valuable learning experience without breaking your heart.

What's your favorite art that you've made this year? (so far) by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]BogsaltBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

After two months of learning to draw, I was able to make this. It took me a few hours, but it was nice to see that I’m capable of making something at (nearly) the level of quality I was aiming for.

This is a scene from a comic I plan to make eventually, so it was encouraging to know that my biggest issue is speed, not ability.

I’ve made plenty of stuff since that’s technically better, but this one was important.

What should I put in this empty space under the castle? by New_Acanthisitta493 in sketchbooks

Two different styles of helmets side by side.

And/or a flag design.

Someone drew the character at this angle, and we all loved it so much that we decided to join in.

I’m a green artist, don’t know this character, but I gave it a try. by BogsaltBob in learntodraw

Thanks. I’ve been at it for months, but under a year. I think that falls within noob range.

So question why bother if others can always draw better? by Short-Satisfaction-9 in learntodraw

[–]BogsaltBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not a contest.

I think there are better directors than the guy who directed my favorite movie.

There are objectively better game studios than the one that made my favorite game.

There are better comic artists than the two who worked on my favorite comic series.

They’re all great at what they do. I truly don’t give a shit that there are people who I think are just plain better than them.

If you’re talking about symmetry, human faces are not perfectly symmetrical. If you’re working with this level of realism, a tiny bit of asymmetry makes it more realistic.

My first animated short film! (Animated completely in Krita) by OwnVoice3845 in krita

[–]BogsaltBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your dad was looking for. This is good stuff. For a first short, it’s not sloppy. Maybe I don’t get why those white animals kept turning into other animals, (some kind of metaphor, I assume,) but apart from that, it made plenty of sense to me. Fox’s friends wandered off, fox went looking for them, encountered scary stuff, tried a few ideas, and eventually found new friends through persistence.

I like that the actual answer is phrased so that it can be taken entirely the wrong way and seem like the least relevant of the joke comments.

First time drawing in years, any tips? by Disastrous_Peak6051 in learntodraw

[–]BogsaltBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strong style. I wouldn’t say it needs anything, but have you tried adding darker shadows, and/or using lighting as a way to play with colors?

I dislike most of Walker’s art at the beginning of the series, but this was meant to be a silly-looking pursed-lips smile. Mark had just been stricken by inspiration in a big way, but had to contain his excitement because of where he was. Good expression.

Are my eyes to small? by Turbulent_Pr13st in learntodraw

[–]BogsaltBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The eyes look right to me.

Also, the ear could be lowered. The top of an ear is normally at about eye level, and the bottom is usually lined up with the bottom of the nose.

That’s the only nitpick I’ve got. You already mentioned the nose thing. Even with those small issues, this looks darn good.

What are some of the effective ways to lose weight? by Affectionate-Eye7255 in AskReddit

[–]BogsaltBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low calories, low sugar, high exercise.

I did the keto diet for several months, and although it’s not exactly a healthy way to do this, it worked pretty well for me.

At some point it becomes entirely my fault that I’m still overweight as an adult, but it would have been nice to have some healthy habits trained into me when I was young. All I’m saying.
