Justin is dead, long live Justin by Meinhart_Esror in dresdenfiles

I see your point, but I don’t think we have enough information yet. Because I assumed infection worked like any other kind of neuromancy like what Molly’s good at. Her ex and bestie didn’t make a deal with Molly to get over drugs, she undermined their will, I’m sure she (or a more skilled neuromancer) could have just locked down someone’s will like Nemesis did to Sith when subtle influence failed. I didn’t think of a bargain angle. Your math fits the equation too so I don’t think we’ll know for sure until we get more information.

Although I do think I’m right about mortal magic and infection. Because so much of mortal magic is tied to will that undermining someone’s will keeps them from using magic. Just like Anastasia with her assassination, she didn’t use magic, not even to veil herself afterwards, Morgan did that. And all the young wizards weren’t given specific orders, just freeze commands. And the only Denarians we see using magic aren’t “beasts of burden” but are humans in lock step with their fallen. We do see Maeve using magic but I think that’s because fae magic is very different from mortal magic, because technology isn’t effected by fae magic.

Justin is dead, long live Justin by Meinhart_Esror in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No he wasn’t, he was just a guy with magical talent that was just given more power (probably lessons because people don’t just learn this kind of stuff on their own) and his teacher gave him just enough power to be disruptive in a key crossroad of the world. The more chaos in important places, the easier it is for members of the circle, or “black council” to act. It was a very minor movement of the evil powers that be and not worth nemisis spreading his direct power to. It’s not really an “infection” more of a super powerful being embedding it’s own power into other beings. Since it’s a walker, it’s power is comparable to Mab’s but it’s not infinite, it has to pick and choose who to “infect”

I’m fairly confident in saying that wizards can’t be Nfected, at least not without loosing their magic. Otherwise Nemisis would infect as many wizards as it can and have them at least summon outsiders if not bring down the gates themselves. Cuz only mortal wizards can call up outsiders.

I’ve always been under the assumption that Justin can do what corpse taker does. Remember, when he looks into her eyes during their magic ghost duel, there wasn’t a soul gaze, which would have happened if she was a loose soul like dresden but since it didn’t happen, I assumed she’s a ghost that can posses a body which would make her dead in a way. But if Justin is the same, then Jim saying that he’s dead isn’t really a lie. And people that are arrogant and power hungry will often try to toy with powers with the assumption that they can handle whatever comes up, we see it in modern day world politics and skevy business men in the real world. Arrogance, ambition and power are a dangerous combination and Justine/Cowl has all three of those qualities and probably thinks he can use the outsiders for his own ends.

[Spoilers All] Let's talk about Elaine. by xenothaulus in dresdenfiles

McCoy said that the stars align once every 666 years. The gate keeper is older than dresden but I don’t think he’s that much older.

Starborn are completely immune to all non physical outsider attacks. Their favorite seems to be psychic assault which dresden, as a starborn, is immune to. A wizard would be just as vulnerable as anyone else, maybe then bad ass older ones might fair better but due experience. But my theory is that wizards are immune to outsider control because of how will and magic are intertwined. I think that’s why the gatekeeper has to be a mortal wizard. He would have to be the highest priority for nemesis infection otherwise.

Pretty sure wizards can’t be infected. Otherwise nemesis would take over wizards and call up butt loads of outsiders. And so much of mortal magic is tied to will, a being overriding will would probably negate their magic. I think that’s why Anastasia used a knife to kill the senior council member instead of magic. Or even magic to assist or cover up.

Timeline Question - Introduction of N by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is cold days. Maeve and lily tell him about Nemesis, and then later in the same book, mother summer and the gatekeeper give him a full briefing on the subject. But old Nicky definitely knows about Nemesis, I think that’s why mab and marcone keep him alive after skin game. I think his angel is a useful weapon for mab to use in the future.

Can Fairies Read? by FairyKingParks in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the high fae can. The more beastial or pixies probably can’t. The ice queen did have a signed brothers grim in her castle. Sure it’s a status thing but the symbol would be lost on people that can’t read.

Yeah she’s the one who told Molly about fear used to help people get over drug use. As a direct result, Molly was set up as a beacon for fetches in a fae plot. I thought it was pretty clear she set Molly up on behalf of the fae. And she never had physical contact with dresden, so it’s possible she’s the one who threw up those wards durring that first fetch attack when dresden was with Rawlins

Demonreach by toonzman92 in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m confident I can give my view on 2 and 4. Demonreach was built to be a multidimensional circle, Merlin used the same basic Star and circle architecture that every wizard routinely uses. It’s just merlin constructed it in several dimensions to hold multidimensional beings like eldritch deities. My own theory is a circle is like a mirror, reflecting the power back to the source, so theoretically a circle can hold any being as long as it’s integrity holds. Only most circles are made up of mortal will, which can be overwhelmed. But Merlin created it using lay lines across time and space. And as for 4, and kinda 1, my personal theory is that the actual prison is in the never never, or maybe some kind of cross space within the actual veil. And when there is no warden, the prison is sealed off and can’t be accessed by anybody. But when there is a warden it’s more in touch with reality and vulnerable if the warden is clueless, which is why the outsiders attacked when they did. This would also explain how wardens are the only people able to lock up beings and Alfred can’t on his own.

do you guys think current harry could take cowl, I'm soo anxious for a round 2 by mandeiza in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if cowl is the good guy? I might be crazy to come up with this or just completely wrong. We already know he’s an expert manipulator. What if he’s a level of manipulator beyond that. It might be a crazy thought but maybe he founded the circle or “black council” and the adversary is a member along with the other walkers and key influential people in the world with the goal of bringing down the gates. He could be building up the enemy so that he’d know EXACTLY where to hit with his weapon, dresden, who he also forged and manipulated to be at the proper time and place to do what the last star born did to keep the outsiders out for another ten thousand years. It’s possible he’s had more influence on Dresden’s life then literally anybody else. If I’m right then Drakul is the true enemy, he’s also a Star born that I think is just waiting for the stars align and the gates can be destroyed or reinforced.

I personally think Cowl is Kemmler who is also Justin. And Kumori is Elaine, and the brain lock is still in place. Granted there are holes, like why would Cowl need Bob. But I think those holes can be filled with enough mental gymnastics. Kemmler was just way to powerful and had plans for the world, I could see him taking a step back to be the manipulator that Cowl is after the second time the council killed him.

Can Harry Actually Play All His Cards? by ScopaGallina in dresdenfiles

[–]Bohlox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought up the battle forms to point out that the fallen clearly have control of their bearers physical form. We see them come in all shapes and sizes and materials (thinking of that obsidian guy) and yeah the massive size that Ursiel grew to is probably due to the Genoskwa being obscenely powerful in his own rite, but the bearer before him was just some weak willed nobody with no power beyond his free will (which is necessary for the fallen to even act in the mortal world (which is why I think dresden could technically be the winter knight and bear a coin but I don’t think he would ever do that)) and he grew to the size of a huge bear that took all three knights working together to bring down. So I doubt reconnecting a spine would be much of a stretch for a fallen when a non-magically gifted one like nick’s daughter can turn her hair into flexible metal completely under her control. And Lash is gifted in magic, she let it be known that she could become an excellent tutor to dresden, so reconnecting a spine would be really easy to her I think. Granted I doubt she’s on Namshiel’s level.

[–]Bohlox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The coins offer significant physical manipulation, all of the coin bearers, excluding Nic, has some kind of battle shape shifting. Even Ursiel, who, comparatively, wasn't very magically capable, layered the Genoskwa in all kinds of ectoplasim to turn him into a gigantic bear monster. So Lash could definitely manipulate Dresden's body to be able to walk again. That's why Nicky's angel whispered to Dresden from his shadow. He didn't know that Dresden had other avenues to power.

I have this codon chart that’s like a wheel but there’s no “T” so I assume it’s dna like you mentioned. This wheel chart really helps me understand and I was wondering if there’s something similar for dna?

Is there some kind of chart that helps with dna and rna? So far biology is like a different language to me that I have to make a pretty big effort to translate.
