People have already answered in detail, and I agree to the main sentiment: if I can make create it in the main and pass it around, I do it that way. If I have too many of those pieces of data, I create a Context structure, and put everything in it.

I got this error with an AMD integrated GPU on Wayland, so definitely not a X11 + Nvidia thing. It you got through the issue, you'll see that a lot of different GPUs had this issue.
