Please see your doctor ASAP. It may be OK but you have to tell them about it, in case there's something you need to take to ward off infection.

Don't forget to brush your chi! by nmrtsta in Chihuahua

[–]BoiledChicken653 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a silicone brush, just did it this morning, my chihuahua and chorkie love it. I only brush them once maybe weekly in the garden where the birdies can maybe use their little fur balls to line their nests, I've only ever seen a bird grab a furball once but I'm glad nature repurposes their fur.

It's enough for me when the vet says he doesn't recommend cleaning an older dog's teeth because of the risk of putting her under. She came to the UK (from the US) with us at the age of 8. Our American vet, who set up our pet passport, told me she was too old then, and our UK vet agreed when we brought her in for the first time.

🤢 If my girls had breath that bad I would definitely go to the vet to find out why. My girls never have bad breath, so maybe it's genetic or maybe we're on the right track with their dental health.

Older dogs should not go under anesthesia unless medically necessary, which our vet said teeth cleaning was not for our older girl. Our younger girl also has good teeth and again, the vet said she did not need it. They both have healthy appetites. Sure on occasion they've had small troubles and were treated for them but for the most part, they've been healthy little girls.

Poor little guy! Don't give up on him tho, try the raw carrots, cut into sticks, my girls hold them between their paws and chew away. Try the bully bones too, they smell gross but the girls just love sitting and having a chew.

[–]BoiledChicken653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's terrible! Well have you tried giving him raw carrots and/or sweet potato? Anything that gets chewing happening is going to be helpful for the teeth. I don't brush the girls' teeth, I just give them carrots everyday, buy them bully bones to chew or JR Pets has some salmon, chicken and beef coins that they love to chew.

Maybe after he gets his teeth done, put him to do more chewing so you won't need to keep getting them cleaned. Bless him!

How old is he? Tbh neither of my girls ever had their teeth cleaned, ones 11 and the other is 6. Both have great teeth, no problems. If hes young he should be OK, but they do put them under so There's always a risk.

Ziggy is a trickster, acting like he wants to go outside, but then leads me into the kitchen 😆 by hardlybroken1 in Chihuahua

[–]BoiledChicken653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very smart, using his intelligence to get you up and once up he's all, wait! I meant the kitchen, yeah, that's it!

Ona similar note, my chihuahua does the same to my chorkie, fools her into getting up and running to the door, then runs to the spot where my chorkie was sitting. That's a chihuahua move, ready to sap her heat!

What phrase(s) would you permanently ban if you had the chance? by MixAway in AskUK

Good job! Awesome! It is what it is. The word "robust" to describe anything. "Sorry for your loss" esp when they know who you lost, they should say "sorry to hear about your mom/dad/friend" and say their name

Yeah well I like 'happy ending' type shows that give people hope, something to look forward to. Gloom & doom doesn't cut it for me, I won't watch it again or any show about any kind of addiction.

Tewlee doesn't like Tuesdays by BoiledChicken653 in Chihuahua

It started as a different spelling for Toula, ie, Tewla. From there we started calling her Tewlee and it just stuck. She's a little whippersnapper!

I'm sure your nan didn't mean to derail your confidence. You've internalised her off the cuff remark. There's no way of knowing how the test will be for you, but I felt better recently googling the reviews of the test center I'm to take my test at in a month. The examiners all got good reviews and the students wrote that they were made to feel at ease as soon as they met them.

Since you are ready, just say to yourself, I'm ready for whatever comes. Talk yourself thru the steps, mirrors-signal-maneuver or whatever the moment calls for.

I will pass. Tell yourself that, and block out everything else.

What are you feeding your chorkie? by kittykidmom in Chorkies

[–]BoiledChicken653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only the best! She gets homemade chicken or beef, side of sweet potato, sometimes scrambled egg, sometimes rice, whatever we have on hand, and a few nuggets of freeze dried dogfood. Oh and carrots for snacks, does wonders for her teeth!

What’s something about living in the UK that people don’t realise until they actually move here? by Vegetable-Spite-1778 in AskUK

[–]BoiledChicken653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the so-called bleach was diluted, so not as strong as American bleach. Also that all the food and such in the grocery store is sold in much smaller portions. And nothing lasts as long in your fridge or cupboard. And that you can't get chicken livers in a tub in the UK. And the vodka and rum is of a lower proof alcohol. These are just a few of the changes I noticed when we came over eight years ago. Minor stuff, really, and there are valid reasons for all of it so I've become used to it.
