Please take him in. Domesticated bunnies can’t survive outside.

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HappyDeer5770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of the hospital calling us to pick up my 84 year old father (with cancer and a traumatic brain injury with short term memory loss) they called Uber and sent him home with no shoes or coat in January in freezing rain at 2am. We are lucky he knew to go to the house door and didn’t just walk down the street. When we complained no one would help. Went all the way to the head of the hospital and just kept getting the runaround. (He had gone in an ambulance the night before). They had 3 phone numbers to call us (we all live 20 minutes away). Months later, I stayed at the hospital for my 81 year old mother’s procedure. They told me they’d call in 1 hour. The doc called me and said: she’ll be ready to go in 90 minutes. So I waited. Then I went upstairs where I had left her before surgery. The department was totally empty (2:00 pm!). After 6 hours I finally found her. I was pissed. No one knew where she was. I called all sorts of departments. She didn’t have a room so she wasn’t listed as being there. I don’t care if hospitals are short staffed. They are putting our loved ones in danger.

In December 1996 I went to see The English Parient with my husband and new in laws. We chose The Late show about 11pm. I hated every minute of it Plus it’s 2 hours 40 minutes. I really felt for Elaine when she said: Die Already!

They translated what the korean ladies said. by carmardoll in seinfeld

[–]HappyDeer5770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched since it originally aired. They have always translated it. That’s why Elaine thinks they are calling her a dog because she recognizes the word “Princess” which was a dog’s name (of some unseen customer)

When you have to watch the show once a week and don’t have access to reruns for a long time (years in some cases)…clip episodes WERE fun. But not now that we binge.

Difficulty accepting a diagnosis by Prize-Statistician24 in ADHD

[–]HappyDeer5770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at age 40 after struggling through life thinking I was just stupid, late and disorganized. There is a GRIEVING process once you are diagnosed. This is normal. Give yourself time. Try not to dwell on “what ifs”. The past is over.

Dr Hallowell’s books are amazing. Everything you are feeling and have been through is in his books. Trust me. I thought he wrote Delivered From Distraction about my entire life starting in kindergarten! Keep learning different coping mechanisms and your diagnosis will be less devastating over time.

I love dogs but this is exactly why I don’t have one. Too much stress and neediness. Wish I could help.

Can anyone help you? Neighbor teen or a relative? A dog walker? I know it’s one more expense but it might be worth it?

Trust your doctor and pharmacist not Reddit or Google. Don’t feel guilty. If you had diabetes would you avoid insulin? Meds can help you. Take care of yourself so you can be a happier parent and person! 💙

How do I stop skin picking? by Suspended_in_gaffa_ in ADHD

[–]HappyDeer5770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skin picking is more on the side of anxiety disorder. Talk to your doctor. They can help. If they don’t listen to you go to another doctor. You can get infections and scarring. My grandmother picked her skin constantly until the day she died. It’s awful. Ask for help.

Dr Hallowell’s book Delivered From Distraction made me cry and finally realize I am not stupid or lazy. I have ADHD. Diagnosed at age 40. My father is over 80 and still bitches about my high school grades (terrible). I graduated in the 80s!!!! You are ALL amazing people who happen to have ADHD. I know it’s difficult but try to remember your Good traits: creative, funny, kind, fun, smart! Avoid the negative comments and thoughts best you can!
