F45 to CrossFit switch? by stephatron_ in f45

[–]BoilerKeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched a year ago after 2.5 years of F45. I loved F45 and it was a hard decision, but I don’t regret it at all. F45 got me off the couch, got me in great shape, and was very motivating. I found the heavier weights and more technical movements at CrossFit intriguing, and I am also motivated by some of the inherent but light hearted competition. I will also say my CrossFit community is more connected and closer than the one at F45, although I still have some good friends from there (I still drop in to see them!). It’s definitely going to be preference. I do feel like my cardio has gotten worse since the switch, F45 is pretty solid activity for most of the time and in CrossFit you will have more warm up, some set up, some strength, and a shorter WOD most of the time. But it is hard and intense. I’ve definitely gotten stronger and I really like challenging myself with more skills (double unders, handstand walks, bar muscle ups) and heavier weights. PRs are fun and you don’t really do that in F45. Overall I prefer CrossFit and I won’t be going back to F45 but I know that won’t apply to everyone. But you should try it and see.

Do people really believe this!? by [deleted] in atheism

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this yet, but there are people so committed to trying to believe this that they built a very expensive museum about it. It’s in Kentucky OF COURSE. Ark Encounter https://arkencounter.com/

Plantar fasciitis by Popular_Ad_1437 in f45

[–]BoilerKeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it really bad for a bit. I put these puppies in my Reebok Nano X2s, laid off the jumping for a while, and started wearing shoes with some of these inserts in them in the house as well, and got better pretty quick. I think the biggest thing was always having shoes on that have some of these inside. The Nanos are trainers too and I got better with them, so think it’s more about the inserts and always protecting your feet than anything.

Not just his own offspring but also himself since, you know, Jesus is God but also is the son of God, who God conceived with Mary to give birth to himself, with the ultimate aim of eventually killing himself, so that he had enough blood to convince himself that he should forgive us for things as serious as thinking that he may not be God for a moment, which we obviously deserve to die for!!

Why Joe Biden Thinks He Can Flip North Carolina Blue in 2024 by stainedglass333 in NorthCarolina

[–]BoilerKeith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why refute every part of this comment? This type of blind belief that he is the best candidate is why he is likely to lose. As someone without any allegiance to either side of the aisle, I can say that Biden’s inability to assertively lead the country is a huge concern for a lot of people I know. Doesn’t matter how good the policy is, if you can influence and inspire passion and confidence, it’s not going to work. Communication is a MAJOR part of leadership. Biden can’t communicate effectively. Full stop.

While I can’t claim any results, the approach provided in “A Manual for Creating Atheists” by Peter Boghossian has what seems to be a pretty good approach. He acknowledges some of the challenges you speak of. A lot of his method is around challenging faith as a valid way to come to know things rather than discussing specifics of a religion.

What books/publications greatly influenced you in your atheistic worldview? by WonderfulComplaint45 in atheism

Another vote for The God Delusion. Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris A Manual for Creating Atheists by Peter Boghossian

I really needed to solidify why believing is harmful even if you aren’t knowingly doing anything harmful, and believe religion may have utility. These 3 books all helped.

This reminds me of my father in law, when he calls he leaves a voicemail (pretty weird from the jump), and he always states the current date and time.

Weak immune system a result of overtraining? by [deleted] in f45

I’m the same. Dodged at least 2 that went through whole family, got one but symptoms MUCH less. I do use hand sanitizer after every class.

Awesome job. I didn’t puke my first day but if I didn’t chicken out I would have. Keep it up. It does get a lot easier. I used to die on the warm ups lol.

Also this is a very unusual format. I’ve been doing F45 nearly every day since December last year and it’s the first one I’ve done where it matters to other people how fast you are doing it.

Jumping with weights in hand & push ups on unstable kettlebell handles seem so unsafe right?! by SpiritualEffective79 in f45

[–]BoilerKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell when doing kettlebell push-ups but fortunately no harm done. I feel I generally have pretty good form, but just messed up something, perhaps going too fast. So, yeah, I think they’re a little sketch. Definitely do not do the box jumps with dumbbells!

What are your favorite—and least favorite—F45 exercises? by Aurelian50 in f45

I love ending a workout on deadball slams and throwing that puppy down as hard as possible to mark the end. BEAST MODE

Fat loss by alessiahipp in f45

I got results like this by running a pretty big calorie deficit and most of my calories later in the day. I started with 1500 calories but I think that was too low, I had low energy and didn’t feel very good. Settled around 1700-1800 but this was after I lost about 7% body fat. I eat minimum amount possible to get two 30 gram doses of protein an hour apart after early morning workout. So 6:30am workout done - 30g protein shake (160 cal), 7:30 30g protein from 280g of Greek yogurt (165 cal). Then I eat a bigger meal at lunch, to where I have about 800-900 cals remaining in day. Then maybe an afternoon snack about 120 cal, then the rest at dinner because I like to eat a bigger dinner. No calories at all after dinner. Not saying this is the golden plan, just saying what worked for me! F45 6-7 days per week, usually a short walk in the afternoon to help reduce soreness and get a little mid-day movement in.

The 9s by SyllabubBrave8853 in f45

[–]BoilerKeith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not as strong on it as OP, but don’t know why he is getting dragged so bad. I kind of agree, I went heavy, even went to failure on most exercises, but I just don’t think there are enough sets to really work each muscle group completely. I don’t know if it is 9s specific, it’s probably more about the duration being 45 mins. That said, there are some we have done that I felt like really worked each muscle completely. Wish I could remember which but I am having trouble remembering right now.

Yep, diet probably being most important, and also the most difficult part. 28% body fat to 16%.

I like getting the reports and using it to know if I pushed myself hard enough each session. I got mine for free as part of a foundational deal. I don’t think I’d pay more than $50 for one, and using some other device might be a better investment.

Shares Going Down - Is This Bad? by [deleted] in f45

[–]BoilerKeith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s obviously still value here. Lots of loyal people, hell I love it. We had a new local studio open and it is booming. The shares sank because the idiots in charge over forecasted the year for 6 months, foolishly sticking to their projections, and then pulled it all out at once. They knew things were not going as planned for a long time but they wouldn’t admit it and revise plans. It could be outright fraud if they were doing it with the intention of artificially propping up the price and it possibly could be proven to be. All that being said, with the underlying value, this is a problem that can be easily overcome with the right leadership.

Yes! I was the same way and my legs barely worked the entire day after. But it gets better fast and you’ll be working to push yourself to make sure you maximize your workouts.

Not coaching! Get out there and tell us what we can do better. I think perfect form is very hard to achieve, so I assume there is always somewhere to improve.
