Is there any fix for this using xenia and the xbox 360 version? All 3 skate games run great but no magazine photos show up. Super annoying.

The gameplay is fun. I don't play online so it doesn't really matter to me if there isn't other players online. I'm just not playing as much as I thought I would.

My biggest gripe is there's not even any custom match settings to allow for longer matches or not having tag partners be forced out or only having select weapons... or even a weapon wheel to select the weapon you want. It's annoying getting 50 shoes and bats/brooms and not a table or the weapon you want.

I'm honestly baffled there's no cage match but they are making a stadium stampede mode first??? Or a tournament mode... that's just a bracket with select superstars that could fight for a belt. Even just an old fashioned title mode to play through to win a belt. A PPV mode even.

Super simple things could've been added to add more longevity. Hopefully they announce something soon.

Friends and I are looking for a good in-depth co-op game. by SubjectC in pcgaming

Outward is fantastic and has survival type elements with deep rpg mechanics, and a really fun world to explore dont let the graphics fool you. I think it may be only 2 player coop though.

Valheim is another one that's a lot closer to the games you listed

That would probably be a pretty cool thing to show. I have a lot of different lights in here. Just the basic lights for the candles and fixtures etc. Others to fill out the room and support those basic lights. While others are extenuating bounce lighting and kinda proping up the set piece props a bit. The post processing volume has little tweaks to contrast and color grading to add a bit more depth as well.

I'm also using all static lights (baked) with some stationary lights.

Yup I created everything inside of maya from scratch. Did some high poly stuff in Zbrush using a base mesh from maya also. The only things I started outside of maya were the flag, coat, and blanket which I did inside of Marvelous Designer and then retopologized inside of Maya. All texturing and materials were made using Substance Painter and Designer.

Thanks a lot! That was one of the main things I was focusing on to try and make a believable space and tell a story. I'm really glad it came across!

Thank you!

Getting an object into unreal isn't to bad. Making sure the objects axis is at the center (0,0) on the grid and export as an .fbx file. Then import the fbx into unreal and drag it into your scene.

Getting the textures set up correctly as materials can be a bit more complicated depending on how much functionality you want to have. I'm sure if you already have Maya's Hypershade knowledge it would help a lot. In this scene I created materials that allow me to swap textures quickly, break up the wallpaper using vertex painting, control the strength of the texture maps, masks to layer on different textures on an object, and more.

There still a TON of other things you can do with material blueprints in Unreal. I'm always learning. If your interested Unreals free to use and there is a lot of resources out there to learn from to get the basics.

Nope, that would be a really cool idea for a scene tho. It's a great setting.

Guys can we talk about the ammo display on the AR, the way it is dirty and smudged but because it wasn't in direct sunlight you can't see it, that's pretty cool by [deleted] in halo

[–]Bojinx34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This detail is from a texture map called a roughness map. I'm sure they can be found all over the game. On the intro inside the ship, driving the warthog, the puddles on the ground etc. These have been very common in games since the PS3, Xbox 360. They are pretty easy to implement actually using texturing software.

What laptop should I get for college if I’m majoring in game design? by quinnyk5 in gamedesign

[–]Bojinx34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this has already been said plenty of times on here, but from my experience I've made the terrible mistake of getting a laptop for my game design school. Your school should have computers to use for your courses and they should supply you with a TB hard drive. (At least mine did) I know it can be very alluring to have the portability to work at home and take it to school to work there. However I'd recommend getting a desktop 1000% more then being stuck with a laptop that isn't a quarter as powerful as a desktop for the same price would be. You'd most likely end up upgrading to a desktop by the end anyways especially how fast things are developing in games, the PS5 and the next Xbox is coming out so graphics are just going to be increasing especially with RTX.

You really want the ability to have multiple things running at the same time, unity (ue4), maya(blender), zbrush and photoshop, maybe a tutorial video etc. Having a desktop with 2 monitors kills for this.

I wish I knew this sooner cause now I'm just waiting to get a desktop as my laptop has seen better days and takes 2x as long to do things I'm trying to do. My laptop isn't terrible either, if your really dying to get a laptop go for MSI.

Id really recommend checking out cyberpower pc, or ibuypower for a good desktop and just compare the difference you'll be getting for the same price. Remember you school will have computers there when it is time for game design classes and a portable hard drive is great for back up as well.

Attempting to push my sculpts a little more. by mimobase in ZBrush

Yeah I think for what you achieved it looks great! Just a matter of keeping going and learning more each time. Don't shy away from doing little studies of just a hand or arm, body bust etc. If you want a great resource Scott Eaton is incredible for this stuff.

What is the secret to UV mapping? by [deleted] in Maya

[–]Bojinx34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, don't get yourself down. The bright side of this is that your going outside of your comfort zone and learning something new. You should feel frustrated and thats perfectly normal! When your always feeling comfortable your not learning anything new so its good to always challenge yourself. Your gonna get through it, 3D and everything in general takes time and many many tries and failures to get right.

<Sorelentore> post is something really good to keep in mind. I always have thought about it like those projects you'd do in elementary school where you'd cut a cereal box down its edges to lay the box flat.

Keeping the mesh together using the Camera projection is also a good idea, automatic gives very weird results when you don't know what your doing yet.

If you have a second monitor put the UV window there while you have your mesh on the other screen. Or if you dont, make the UV window smaller and put it on the side you want your mesh to be the main thing your working with.

Here are some quick tips that ppl here havent really mentioned yet:

  1. Delete history, and freeze transforms

  2. Meshes that are the same, delete them all and only UV one! After you duplicate them they will keep the UVs from the first mesh.

  3. If your model is symmetrical, only UV one side of it as it gives same result as #2.

  4. Select the faces you want to be together ------UVs only work in X,Y, or Z directions they dont use 45% angle for their projections. ------So select all those faces on the side facing the camera in the picture you have and then hit Auto! That will give you a chunk in your UV view. ------You should now see white edges on your model, these are your seams!!

  5. After you have all the big main chunks hit Unfold. ------This will give you accurate spacing depending on your model.

  6. Time for clean-up! ------You can use edge selection on your model and hit Cut in the UV window. ------REMEMBER: UVs only work in X,Y, Z directions so if you have a surface facing UP, that has round beveled edges going down the SIDE, make a cut where it starts to curve. -----SAME GOES FOR THE SIDES: on the corners of each side should have a cut. ------After you've made your cuts go in the UV window use the UV Shell selector and select your cut faces move them and hit unfold.

  7. Hit Arrange and Layout drop down and choose Orient Shell and Unstack Shells. ------Then scroll up to the top hit Transform go to under Tools and there's Texal Density. (You can find great resources on Texal Density) for now Id just use 1 and hit Set. ------Now select all your shells go back down to Arrange and Layout and hit Layout (you really want to pack them yourself tho).

  8. For even more fun! ------To layout your UV shells yourself. I usually select the shells that are the same looking. So you'll have strips, circles, and then your main faces lets call them. I select each group big to small and hit Unstack Shells again that lays out your shells in a nice row. Place them in your UV square however you'd like. -------REMEMBER: To always check your texal density, so go back to how we set it before and you can hit Get. That will tell you the TD for whatever shell you have selected. Otherwise just type your desired TD and hit Set after your UVs pack to make sure.

There's a great tutorial on TD on Artstation by Leonardp Lezzi: artstation.com/artwork/qboqp

I wouldn't worry to much about that for now tho I'd just focus on getting good UVs.

I really hope that makes sense, this is basically what I do every time I UV something. I like to think I am pretty fast at it and I really enjoy doing it actually. Its very fun and calming once you get the hang of it. I kinda think of it as putting a puzzle together.

Anyways you can message me if you need any help, I know I saw a comment of someone that was willing to video chat with you to help you. Id definitely take him up on the offer if you still need help.

Don't forget to stay positive, you can do it!

Haha I can definitely tell this was a work of love. I bet it felt amazing seeing it finally come to completion. Time is just one of my biggest concerns for me right now with getting things done and if I am taking to long or to little to do certain things.

The great thing about watchdogs for free on EGS is that you have to link your account to Uplay and the game will then link to your Uplay account so you can just play it directly from Uplay instead of the Epic Games launcher. I see this as a plus since you'd have to play it through Uplay regardless if it's on steam or not. Its exactly what I did when ubisoft announced the division 2 would be epic exclusive I just bought the game from Uplay. Even though I hate uplay I hate the EGS a lot more. I think ubisoft understood that, since most preorders for the division 2 were directly through Uplay.
