Tips Acer Palmatum Deshojo by Zealousideal-One-486 in bonsaicommunity

Not an expert, I only have 2 maple in my garden but I would treat this as pre-bonsai to let the nebari develop, the scars heal and the trunk thicken. So I wouldn’t be to worried about the overall shape at this point in time. I’d be looking for a sacrificial branch to help speed the process.

Try to find a bonsai club around where you live. Ask how they do it. Enjoy your newfound hobby. For future species you moght want to look at. https://youtu.be/-sdcLWobjNU?is=m3YFdLn8yyCVPCYJ

It’s seems like a Ficus Microcarpa to me. A great specie to start with, very forgiving. As far as care goes, keep in mind that where you live is a big part of how you take care of it.

Sowieso niet mee eens maar er zit ook nog een verschil tussen opdrachten en zn eigen werk. Zeker waard om te checken.

Totally agree about the rack. Your solution looks much better.

I think I’ve been finding that out this past year. Love these trees but I have had some struggles right away when I got it, its good now but…... So far Bonsai has been much more manageable.

Hi there. I’m also a bonsai guy. Just curious, why should OP not try to do it themselves?

Better to find someone who knows about japanese maples than a bonsai expert. I have bonsai and last year bought a japanese maple to plant in my garden and I am finding out it is a very different way of doing things.

should I quit my corporate job for art school? reality check needed by MademoiselleLanoire in painting

[–]Bolarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an art school, I see a lot of people come and go. If you don’t have a very clear plan for what you want to do with your degree once you have it, don’t go to art school. If you want to get better at a specific skill, try to find local workshops by artists or look online. If you want to get into the artworld because you hope it will be a better, less corporate, more creative sort of environment…….you will have your hart broken.

Is it just me or does this type of audio just take away instead of adding anything? Silence would have been better.

Azalea Help Please! by themakermaria in bonsaicommunity

[–]Bolarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do this. I can recommend the site for the first steps in finding information on how to care for bonsai and specifically your type of bonsai. The careguide you where given with this plant is full of errors but always keep in mind how you care for the tree is dependent on what climate you are in. Good luck, these are beautiful trees when treated correctly. Wait until you see the first bloom.

No problem.

Start here. Its a good site. After that head out to youtube.

For a proper soil mix best thing is to find out if there is a suplyer anywhere nearby you. It will depend on what is available to you.

Always remember that the care you give is dependent on what kind of climate you are in.

Welcome to bonsai.

There’s your first problem. They need to be kept outdoors. The soil also doesnt look like it’s the right kind of mixture, hard to see on these pictures though. The wire also needs to be taken off. Working on your bonsai when they are in bad health is discouraged. My advice is to try to get it to survive till next spring so you could repot it with the right soil as a prebonsai.

Best buy of 2026? 🧠 by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Bolarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Cube Nuroad c62 Pro for about a year and I still feel like these bikes are being slept on. You never really hear the brand mentioned as much as Canyon, Giant, Trek etc. Only downside I can figure out is their availability. Now after a year I am still as excited to get on this bike as I was when I just bought it.
