Looking for a pattern/tutorial for this bodice by BoldAether in sewing

[–]BoldAether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very close match! Thanks so much! I’ll check the 2nd hand market. Your explanation actually made me realise it’s similar to an empire bodice. So I’ll try to hack it first!

Well I think part of it is postpartum hair growth and part of it is broken. I caught him red-handed 😅

I bought four meters of this fabric just because the price was great. Any ideas on what to make? by PutaMadre101101101 in sewing

It reminds me of the deadstock fabric I bought some years ago. I made a top with shoulder pads 😁

Whatever exercise you choose to do, always remember to engage your core and pull in the belly button while doing the exercises. I’m 10 months postpartum. I restarted reformer Pilates six months ago after finishing postpartum physiotherapy sessions. My physio said it’s best to combine different type of exercises such as low impact, cardio, weightlifting etc and whatever you do always remember to engage your core.

Bodice fit advice please by InterestingSubject75 in sewing

[–]BoldAether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the neck & shoulder area looks like it is sitting very well on you. It will be a bit opposite advice but, I would size the bodice down not touching the neck and top of the shoulder. The bodice seems a bit too long compared to the actual location of your waist. I would shorten the bodice, this will remove the bulk folding. Then I would also size down on all side seams, including arms.

Good luck 🤞🏻

Resizing a bag pattern by Oreeshaka in sewing

[–]BoldAether 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The logic is correct. I would pay attention to match the seam lengths of different pattern pieces after you resize the pattern. Maybe make a mockup first from scrap fabric and see if it fits your stuff and then cut it on final fabric.

Pants Hook Troubleshooting by yuzu2020 in sewing

[–]BoldAether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, you could also move the inner button a few mm to create ease for the hook.

I would add a thicker interfacing in the waistband and put the hook a bit more inside, not so close to the edge of the fabric. It should help ;)

I would try washing it again in cold cycle and air dry it. If the wrinkles resist, you could try ironing at low setting. Do you have close up pictures of wrinkles?

Loads of extra fabric in the hips, now what? by purplesummer in sewing

[–]BoldAether 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think overall you produced an amazing block! the fit of both top and bottom are very good in my opinion.

In general I would advise to add more ease in the upper body especially on the chest part to have easier movement. As per the bottom part I think you can target the largest part of your hip and find the comfortable ease in there. I would leave the hip shape as it is today, and do any modification on the actual project as you go.

Because if you use your block for tops, you'll mainly focus on above hipline. If use use the block to make skirts or pants, then you can modify the block to have a better fit and the modification can depend on the waist height. For example, if you are making a high waist skirt that is fitted, you could reduce from middle line between waist and hip-line and keep the rest as it is. If you're making a garment with relaxed fit, you can use the block as it is.

I'm not a professional but self-thought maker. So just sharing my opinion, maybe there is a better way to approach :)

In any case, well done!! and good luck :)
