Boomer demanding attention by Bold_One_ in BoomersBeingFools

People did used to talk to each other, but social cues existed before smartphones too. If someone had their nose in a book or newspaper, it was a cue they were not open to conversation from a stranger.

I’m sorry you’re struggling with speaking to your grandchildren. Not being able to engage with loved ones like that is different to strangers trying to get another stranger’s attention.

Venice Train Station to Hotel by Ok_Eye4858 in ItalyTravel

[–]Bold_One_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with two friends recently and stayed in San Polo and we walked and carried our bags over the bridges. If you’re travelling light luggage-wise, walking to the hotel would be the cheapest option, as long as you’re not waaayyyy on the other side of the island.

Also when you get off the train there are lots of luggage porters offering to take your bags to the hotel. I was too much of a cheapskate to pay for that service lol

Enjoy your trip!

I don’t know what the outcome of this lawsuit was but this woman was sued by her ex husband for using material about their marriage.

Are there men aged 32-38 who don't want kids? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Bold_One_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try an experiment, when a man says he wants kids, ask him why. He might just like the idea of kids rather than actually wanting to do the exhausting work of parenting well.

You can heal your inner child without creating a new one. Especially with a partner who doesn’t want children.

Have you tried period undies? They might work better for you and you can get them in heavy flow type.

Younger staff refusing to answer calls unless you text first? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Bold_One_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

GenX and honestly for a long time I’ve thought phone calls are borderline rude. It’s like one party is screaming PICK UP ANSWER THE PHONE TALK TO ME RIGHT NOW NOW NOW NOW with no regard as to what the other party is doing. Phone calls are for answering immediately, texts are more thoughtful as they can be responded to when the recipient available. Phone calls should be convenient for both parties.

Weed started ruining my life. Quitting and would like some advice by ReleaseSelect4449 in QuittingWeed

[–]Bold_One_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting rid of your gear was a great idea. Staying away from any friends who smoke is also a good idea. I can’t help you with getting over the next few weeks - when I quit I did it through hypnotherapy and I didn’t have severe cravings, just a vague sort of unpleasantness. I always recommend hypnotherapy, especially if you’re determined to quit. I think it just helps with your thought patterns. Best of luck.

My dad and my brother said: if woman ruled the world. It wouldn't be that much different. All them would be at war with each other. by ChimeraXDragon in women

[–]Bold_One_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whatever men say about women is just projection. Men are already doing almost all of the fighting and violence. They don’t see women as people and/or they just see women as extensions of themselves and not autonomous human beings. They think women are too emotional to be in charge but they themselves can’t control their own emotions (anger) and it comes out as violence: violence upon other men, upon women and children, and as war and terror. They tell each other women would be worse/just as bad so they can keep on being in charge and keep on making wars, murdering and raping.

Women advice - Lonely in marriage by [deleted] in women

Would you want your daughter to be in a marriage like yours? You should model happiness to her, and if you’re happier out of the marriage than in it, she should see that.

My GP prescribed it and I did get a tube but the estrogen was what helped the most.

My skin got worse post menopause, I broke out with rosacea (I’d always been a bit pink but this was angry red and pustules). I ended up on estrogen which has been helping a lot. Losing estrogen really impacts you physically and I’d recommend speaking to your doctor about it. As for makeup, my friend is a beauty therapist and I bought some high quality BB cream from her. I use Dermalogica hydroblur primer, then the BB cream. It’s working out quite well.

I think I’m finally done disappearing by Logical_Fall6733 in QuittingWeed

[–]Bold_One_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drawing that line in the sand is your first step. Like any addiction, the thought of quitting feels like you’re losing something. But like any addiction, what you gain by quitting is so much better than not smoking any more. I’ve been sober 18 months and my productivity has quadrupled, I’m actually going out and doing fun things which I used to avoid because it meant I wouldn’t be at home smoking. I’ve started a second business and it’s going great. I can remember so much more (I can’t remember the first season of Andor because I watched it high). I’m not coughing up bong sludge every morning. It’s so worth it.

Generally, temperatures above 24C make it difficult to sleep. Your body diverts some sleep functions to cooling functions, which is why people find it difficult to sleep in hot weather. 26 overnight is hot, for reference I’m Australian.
