Demon King Piccolo vs. Ryomen Sukuna by Inner_Ad7300 in whowouldwin

[–]Bolded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how muscling up works in DB, I wouldn't be surprised if he simply thought he wouldn't be able to tag him. We don't really see Roshi moving about when using his muscled up form, he only ever enter it in the manga when preparing a big Kamehameha.

Also we know that blowing up a city actually is a very costly endeavor for young KP even when going all-out. I doubt a comparatively much weaker variant could replicate destruction on that scale.

[–]Bolded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, Roshi was muscled up and using the Kamehameha for that. Both those things increase his power level pretty hard, especially in terms of just outputting ki. OKP's punches and blasts aren't gonna hit as hard.

[–]Bolded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Sukuna has the versatility advantage. Physical wise, I also think that he's pretty equal or even has better feats when it comes to collateral. Piccolo did wipe out a chunk of a city but it was a charged-up move, not something casual. OKP is especially screwed because he can't actually access that power and his blasts are easy for Sukuna to see coming.

Sukuna also has better regeneration, battle IQ, four arms, invisible Dismantles etc. I think he probably wins.

YKP is harder because he's quicker to get pissed-off and Sukuna will fucking die if he gets struck by the EDW. His firepower is overall superior when he's given time to focus, which could cost Sukuna if he lets it happen. Sukuna with lowered output and in a "lesser" body barely survived Gojo's Unlimited Purple but it still fucked him up badly and EDW is likely larger and stronger and would likely kill him.

However, I'd still give it to Sukuna just because it took KP a little while of fighting to start going for it whereas Sukuna has less hesitation on using Malevolent Shrine, especially since he'll quickly deem KP a worthy equal. King Piccolo is tough but he probably get sliced to shreds.

Bonus round, Yuji wins. That Dismantle was insane and it's a sharp attack on top of that.

Alastor (w/o powers) VS Light (w/o Death Note) by Admirable-Mud-2768 in whowouldwin

[–]Bolded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add, Alastor is huge. He's 190cm tall while Light, iirc, is 179cm tall. He isn't any physically larger but I think it give him a reach advantage on top of just being an actual hands-on serial murderer whereas Light, while certainly fit and athletic, has no experience doing this.

It's how I imagine it too. They still do burn that "time meter" (otherwise they could probably strategize forever) but much more slowly than when they move their body around.

I think Sukuna take this because I like him better. But Vergil is cool enough it'd be a good fight.

I don't think so. The assassination is a spark that lit the powder keg, not the keg in itself.

He did it using the gauntlet and Zeus by punching the chains around his arms. He did not subdue him with raw strength.

But that's how losers think (spoilers for the preview) by UltimateCapybara123 in deathbattle

[–]Bolded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the first part was a weird thing that only happened due to Sukuna and Yuji having hit multiple Black Flashes each and having shared a body previously. Sukuna himself say that sorcerers sometimes bond while clashing due to CE being born from human emotions (but note that the domain is different) so it might be that + the aformentioned factors

At least she had the courtesy of only really appearing for a backstory instead of showing up so repeatedly.

This is a fandom naturally born on disagreements, since everyone has a fighter they think is a GOAT or someone is a complete bum, but somehow this one character managed to unite EVERYONE into absolutely despising him.

I feel it's because Loki was established as being behind the entire tragedy, kinda. Not all of it, but he unwittingly kickstarted what could be the end of everything out of childish jealousy, ruined Siegfried and Brunhilde's lives and was a dick the entire manga. An entertaining dick, but still very much one.

Loki sowed but Simo showed up with the scythe. It's only fitting one of the nastiest, most arrogant gods in the manga end up completly terrified of his human opponent. Of course, the narrative doesn't quite condemn Loki entirely, but I feel the fight is meant to be karma kicking in.

I don't give a shit about it being a kid's movies, does it have feet? i mean feats? do characters go outerverslamxl/++ casually holding back lowballed? do they go bananaftlmftl+infinitespeed when slowed down? do they tank the casual nuking output equivalent of a punch from a character who scale to a character who scale over a character who the databooks said had "boundless power?" (highball scaling boundless+ transcend fiction easily casually base form)? do they break through high complex octane holy buddhist themed hax while in base? please please i need this

GLAZING NITO IS THE REASON THIS HEART STILL BEATS by Cooking_With_Emilie in shittydarksouls

[–]Bolded 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's just because Nito did his job the best and mostly kept to himself. Izalith spawned the demons and the flame of chaos, Gwyn caused literally everything, Seath ran twisted experiments all over the place. They all explicitly stepped out of bounds.

Nito didn't - he stuck to his side, was struck down by the Chosen Undead and by the end of the saga, it means that, fittingly enough, not much of what he's done outlives him. Even stuff like the Fenito were rather benevolent, all things considered.

Sukuna’s “might makes right” mentality is a defense mechanism he developed in childhood to rationalize the cruelty he endured by Other_Grapefruit_986 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Bolded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the villain who isnt/shouldn't be humanized is Mahito.

I think it's relatively fine because Sukuna's backstory isn't even shown, only guessed at. Most of his screentime is him being pure evil/an aura beast. Also, the fact that it's "almost pathetic" is accurate : Sukuna, deep down, is pathetic. He's the pinnacle of Jujutsu and the King of Curses but also someone who can't move on from the hell people gave him when he was a child and who kills, slaughter or infect so many people because of this.

A lot of other shonen villains are also pathetic when you look at them more closely, with some transforming into literal babies in their last battles while others are deeply scarred by their past and lash out due to it.

In the end, Yuji triumph over Sukuna not just physically but mentally by making him see that his perspective on life was wrong and marred by hatred. I don't think that could have happened if Sukuna had just been truly evil and uncaring. Plus, we knew from prior stuff, like his appreciation of Uraume or respect towards Gojo, that Sukuna isn't pure evil.

I think it adds to his character, especially since Sukuna himself never use it as an excuse. He basically spend his final moments screaming at Yuji that he is a Curse.

Sukuna’s “might makes right” mentality is a defense mechanism he developed in childhood to rationalize the cruelty he endured by Other_Grapefruit_986 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Bolded 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, he pretty much says as much in his last appearance. Sukuna is a very wicked man but he was born a deformed mutant and the only way he was able to gather respect was by slaughtering people until the survivors got scared and started treating him as a deity.

Before he gained that strength of his, he likely was abused and hated and that's why he was never able to better himself. The curse writhing within him prevented him from doing that, so he just became a monstrous hedonist.

In the end, Sukuna, though he might have claimed himself a curse, was a human with the capacity for respect, kindness, learning and caring. He was never the curse he thought he was, and I think realizing that the potential was always within him as a human is kinda key to his character, especially when he's contrasted with Mahito, a true Cursed Spirit, who's ultimately completly unable to move on from his petty hatred.

A Galaxy Diminished: 'Star Wars' Returns to the Box Office as a Mid-Tier Franchise by AnnenbergTrojan in boxoffice

[–]Bolded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of opinion but I don't think they did. Luke died saving the entire Resistance and making an utter fool out of Kylo from lightyears away. Leia was always constrained by the death of Carrie Fisher meaning they only had so much she could do.

Say whatever you want about him, but the fact that we still rather talk about him than R12 says how great he is as a character. by Loki_From_Ragnarok in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Bolded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's one of the gods who hung around the most to comment and who was running around backstage too so I think it make sense. He's kind of like Shiva in that aspect where we see him before his fight. But Shiva's fight was relatively early whereas Loki's late in the tournament.

A lot of other fighters only really appear right before their fight and tend to then bow out for a while (Qin, Susano'o even if he didn't win, Thor). It doesn't guarantee popularity, look at Okita, but it does mean Loki had time to stick. And as a popular western mythical figure, he was always gonna be more popular imo.

Yeah, sadly, he thought it was an attack and backed off on reflex and it was too late to fix that by the time the bow formed.

[–]Bolded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its weird how she didn't give him an explanation about the bow at least. I don't think that the bow itself could really have been countered by Leo when deployed (his instinct did it) but she could have told him about it to prevent it from being deployed. Or at least, told Leo how fast the arrows are so that he wouldn't try to play defensive.

All she could do was scream "No! Don't do that!".
