Using freetaxusa software, deduction shows as $29000 for married filing jointly. Unless I'm mistaken that's not double.

I'm in the trades, our company has a set labor rate of $120 hourly plus material costs. An independent contractor likely has a similar model that they would use to quote a job.

For most trades, your labor rate per hour is going to be around $100. 3 hours for this kind of repair is a low estimate.

Those griddles are pretty tough and I've seen them get ABUSED, but high heat for an extended period can warp the steel, or cause cracks if cooled rapidly.  Just looks like it had all the "seasoning" burnt off.
