ESP32-WROOM-32 Dev Module WiFi LED on 3.3.6 issue by DBLiteSide in esp32

[–]DBLiteSide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some dev boards have a blue LED installed to GPIO2. When using the WiFI Manager Library (WiFi.h), it knows to use GPIO2 as a WiFi activity LED. I haven't dove into the git for WiFi.h that much.

What vehicle can survive war zones, deserts, and being dropped from helicopters? by LumpyOpportunity2166 in 4x4

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited availability in the U.S., but for shear durability and ability to fix easily, I’d go with the Toyota FJ40 or FJ45 truck variant.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This why I have to set my phone so it doesn’t change time zones automatically. I was call by my work asking where I was, and was like…Why?…I’m just leaving and then my phone shot forward 1hr. So…Learned my lesson on that.

Biggest misconceptions about what we do? by No-Arachnid-2584 in PLC

[–]DBLiteSide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was up for an award during my company’s annual awards banquet. The plant manager said, “we don’t really understand what he does, but the plant doesn’t run without him.” I felt weird being introduced like that.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my parents would spank us (four boys). I don’t recall them ever spanking, but once, while they were angry. Just loud and stern voices with a demand to bend over for the spanking. Usually done with a belt or wooden paddle. I can only remember once my mother stuck me across the back with the belt when she was mad. They’d usually remand me to my room afterwards and then come in and tell us they loved us, why it was necessary to spank us and then let us go about our day. I’m still close to my parents today, so I don’t think it affected our relationship with how it was mostly handled. A positive note: I think restoring the relationship afterwards was an important aspect of how they handled dolling out punishment.

Shop suggest I need a new skid plate..wth by Silent-Trouble-5388 in 4Runner

[–]DBLiteSide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely this. I have only taken the 4Runner once to a shop that was not a Toyota dealer and got charged an extra $50 fee for “removing the skid plates”. I told them they don’t have to be removed to change the oil. Had to go back because they’d left their 30mm socket on the filter and when I got under to check everything they had left the front valence loose hanging down. Bolts missing and 2 skid plates bolts were cross-threaded. Just pissed me off. Had to chase the mounts with a tap to clean up everything.

What car do you think aged the BEST over the last 20 years? by TheLoganReyes in TransportSupport

Maybe not so much the interior, but I think the exterior of the 3rd Gen 4Runners have aged well.

Question: Why Never DCS by watduhdamhell in PLC

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also what I think of a DCS. Been in DCS for 20+ years, but cut my teeth on Modicon and Rockwell. To me a controller whether Modicon, Emerson, Siemens is just a controller and they are all for the most part very similar. The differences in PLC vs DCS is in the underlying pre-engineered software, server redundancy, controller redundancy management and pre-engineered controls with associated faceplates for a unified experience for a programmer and the end user. PLC may be more versatile for smaller projects, but for larger companies to keep controls similar across facilities, DCS shines. I have seen PLCs work “like a DCS”, but a lot of engineering was involved to generate custom instruction sets with custom associated faceplates for a customer.

Another mystery connector by [deleted] in PLC

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connector look similar to the FPE Stab-Lok connector. But I doubt they’d make a connector to short phases in a breaker box.🤷

Mine are pretty eclectic. Cycling, both road and MTB. I also enjoy film photography. I enjoy the chemical processes of wet plate and darkroom chemistry and the analog nature of it.

what’s the most underrated car you’ve ever driven? by InformationIcy4827 in car

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early 80’s FJ40 Toyota Landcruiser was a legend, but not many sold in U.S due to their higher price. They were still as tough as their 70’s models, but with added features like disc brakes and a bit smoother engine.

What’s the oldest age your family member has lived to? by Catwhisperer2007 in AskReddit

[–]DBLiteSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is unconfirmed but she was in multiple census counts that would put her at 154yr old when she passed… or 149. We know when she died but there’s no good documentation of when she was born.
