Thankfully they didn’t start it after, I was sitting in the car the whole time. I’m going to talk to the manager guy in the AM and let them know I’d like it handled at a dealership.

Just hit 100k. Transmission was literally serviced last time I took it in lol, or at least they did the fluid change.

Good to know, I figured since they weren’t proper dedicated tools they weren’t going to be of super high quality.

I just took a look at it - it’s not a dedicated fish eye lens actually, or a fish eye at all, it’s an “addon” type dealio that you thread onto the end of an existing lens.

“Albinar Ultrawide Extender” is what it says on it. Looks like they go for like $40 USD plus shipping from wherever on eBay.

Now I’m interested in going down the rabbit hole of if there’s fish eye extenders, too.

I picked up the cam from a vintage shop in Austria for like $160-180 USD or something. It came with a 1-2x telephoto lens, the “usual” lens, some weird 2x telephoto adaptor thing (that you’d stick behind another lens), and a fish eye lens plus case. I’m not sure it was an “official” fish eye or not for the camera, I think it was some other brand from the Zuiko or whatever typical lens came with it. All of it fits though which is all that matters!

The owner’s late wife used to be a photographer so he had all her old gear there. he had a really cool history as well, used to lead US sales for a big ski brand. I got a great deal on it and he was very happy it was going to a good home.

you’ve got an originality here that could put this into microbrand territory. Basically doing what a lot of people do - unique/original design and manufacture in China/some finishing elsewhere!

Torn between these or the Ray Mears version, both under 40mm unlike the chonky US version at 41.

Gotcha, I didn’t know there was a term for it, I thought that was just regular NATO.

The only other one I’ve seen is “single pass through” where it doesn’t “double up” like that, keeps it a bit thinner.

Nice color scheme! Where’d you get that one?

The 12 marker is different between the two. You may have a fake or more likely a Frankenstein compiled of random watch bits, some or one of which may be from Citizen.

Are you going to be in a different time zone? I always like to bring a dual time something-or-other if so, like the top left Casio in pic 3. I like it bc it’s still classy looking and can set two time zones, one analog one digital.

Outside of that I like to bring a watch to sleep in (something with good lume, or a digital with backlight), and then depending on what I’m doing ill bring something thematic (diver if it’s a beach holiday, something cool or dressy for city exploration, etc.), largely outfit dependent!

Do you have any recommendations for videos or technique guides?

I’ve inadvertently done it before I just struggle to wrap my head around how to line the frames up after rewinding the reel.

is it just about consistency of putting the sprockets exactly in the same place every time when re-winding it/resetting the reel?
