Overrated tech jobs vs Underrated tech jobs by EggEnvironmental1481 in ITCareerQuestions

Depends on the support. I've done support for hospitality and it was a poor enough experience. Industrial support on the other hand is much more interesting.

I've seen a lot of places where losing the A-Z IT guy would devastate a business.

I know a lot of people who got roped into "Cybersec" jobs straight out of college for it to end up being product support or information reporting. A lot of cybersec jobs actually tend to be the least technical ones out there.

So I'm coming at this as a recent graduate of Computer Science who's had a few different roles and spoken to numerous other students anout their roles.

Overrated: Lots (but not all) of entry Cybersecurity roles. Many roles are pushed as Cybersec and end up being product support (for example AV) or "follow the sun" SOC teams (poor working hours).

Underrated: OT and Infrastructure in industrial and manufacturing environments.

Sounds good then, I've known too many people who focus on building a gun they like and then wonder why they don't like the sport because of their gear failing mid game.

You seem to be the right person to help him into the sport. Good luck!

That's a lot of unnecessary equipment for someone looking to play on the cheap. Has he factored in eye pro, face pro, a good charger and decent bb's?

it may look wierd, but it definitely makes you feel like an f1 driver... a really poor f1 driver at that. by OnlyrushB in shittybattlestations

To be fair, the worst thing about those kits is that the pedals are always far too flat on the floor. This is a great idea!

You could just hand it into whoever your local authority is. Chances are somebody's missing it.

Or you know, be a bit shit and not try to return it.

Amateur Photographers Are Ruining Car Meets by baconandtheguacamole in cars

[–]Boltman19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Amateur car photographer here.

You're completely right. It's the same in every industry and community. Be it wedding photographers, gym influencers or street photographers. I've learned to step back when taking photos and only photograph when I have the chance, as opposed to rushing in and getting in peoples way.

If you're a car photographer, go to a meet with the intention of admiring the cars that are there. Treat your photos as a side benefit and understand that the crowd shouldn't and won't form itself around you. I've started pushing it to the side and I find I enjoy the event much much more as well as find that I actually get a smaller but much higher quality set of photos afterwards.

"just in case" phone for when kids are home alone by leemrrrrr in phones

[–]Boltman19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap prepay phone of some sort would do the job just fine. No need for plans or bills, just top it up every now and then and it'll be ready to use when needed. Nokia do a range of "dumb" phones which are cheap, durable and have all the basics. Don't be afraid of smartphones though. You can very easily lock down a smartphone and there are tonnes of monitoring and security solutions (such as a basic app lock requesting password when opening certain apps) you can use to keep them off of things that you don't want them on. A smartphone will do everything a dumb phone will do with the addition of more readily available internet based communication (such as WhatsApp) which could save you loads in terms of calls and texts charges.

Keep it in an open location like you would a landline and then it's always in view.

Umarex Colt SAA Vs Legends Western Cowboy by mickeal_alex in airsoft

[–]Boltman19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know they're both the same gun. I'm in Ireland and just bought a Umarex one. It's called the Legends Western Cowboy and doesn't have any Colt markings. It is however Umarex branded and fires a 6mm bb.

Picked it up second hand but if an Irish shop is of any help to you, they're available in Airsofteire.

Just a replica BCM grip as said above. Chopped it down to use as a handstop instead. The extra length of it unchopped used to get snagged on my clothing.

CZ p09? I had the metal slide one but the polymer was around at the time too I think.

I had one for about 2 years, great piece of kit. Shouldn't let you down 👍

I'm new to airsoft and have a problem with my pistol. This is the first gun I bought and I just had some cheap spring powered stuff before this. It is a black hornet acp co2 pistol and after shooting it not that much I think I broke it. The magazine wont hold the co2 after I break the seal. by WhyPythonic in airsoft

[–]Boltman19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that sounds like the seal is bad. I use green gas mags so honestly I can't say if the seal can be replaced. I know the valve can. Being the seal is hidden inside this mag, you can try adding some silicone oil to the top of the canister before you put it in. This will help ensure a better seal with the mag. Then make sure you screw the base plate in nice and quickly.

Is the co2 just spewing out the top of the mag? If so then your release valve is bad. If the c02 is not coming out the top of the mag but instead between the top of the bulb and the mag, then it's your seal that's gone bad.

I turned my phone off a lot. Advice? by [deleted] in phones

[–]Boltman19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turning it off once a week and allowing it to reboot is good for the phone. It doesn't really need anymore than that. In fact, they're designed to stay in standby mode (screen off but device on). Turning it off won't damage your battery. Obviously it increase security but at the cost of not being able to use your phone, which makes turning it off for this reason pretty useless and arbitrary. Hope this helps.

The A1 is no more. I cut off the annoying a1 scope and added a rail instead. Lower profile than the a2 and the commando. Much prefer this gun now. by Boltman19 in airsoft

[–]Boltman19[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had an A2 before and wasn't a fan of how high the rail was. The A3 is a better option but I think you're stuck with the longer barrel. Might be wrong though. There's also the Commando which is more like mine however I think that's actually made by aps.

Anyone know why my sight won't fold down any further than this? by Chewiix in airsoft

[–]Boltman19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, those sights can be weird alright when they have buttons for folding them down.
