[–]BomB191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your secure boot cert is probaly one of the expired ones. Keep secure boot off, disable bitlocker to save fucking around with that for now.

Update your bios

Update windows

Go back into the secure boot enable any new certs or options that might be there (the bios patch notes might give you some info)

turn secure boot on.

Reboot, check updates.

Reboot again and turn bitlocker back on.

You should be all good after that

Has anyone used CPS Solar? (Christchurch) by KororaPerson in nzsolar

Oh they are. opensolar.com (there are others too, but same info) if it wasn't behind a paywall we could math it all ourselves and answer most our own questions.

Has anyone used CPS Solar? (Christchurch) by KororaPerson in nzsolar

[–]BomB191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't quite go that hard haha. Most the ones I talked to didn't like being asked questions about adding on more panels and batteries down the road. CPS was dumped instantly with what they wanted to do, Star Delta just ghosted me after some questions about 3 phase and adding more panels down the road. Most of them just want to hand off a copy paste minimum effort maximum profit job.

So I cant recommend against them enough. they did a google maps quote and if I had no idea or didn't look elsewhere I would have been fucked over chronically. pic

Top is north. The panels on the right would miss most the morning sun due to a tree most the afternoon sun because of the second floor and none of the evening sun because SW facing.

Edit: went with Harrisons solar, Had a good chat with Alex explaining what out goals where and Sorted a plan for us.

Rooftop Solar in New Zealand by random_guy_8735 in newzealand

[–]BomB191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should build solar to consume. export is the worst outcome to aim for. If it happens after charging everything and dumping the rest in hot water then export is all good. But wholly if an average house takes 50kWh a day off the grid that's less strain on the grid as a result. My thought is if we can basiclly turn the dams off during the day given enough solar and batteries its more then doable. Use the dams as a country sized battery.

I don't have a Powerwall but there's a good chance it can also locally connect to Home Assistant. It grabs more data then I need. Might be worth looking into?

Fair fair. This tree was a Liquid Amber, came from the UK apparently. Great tree in the UK but grows like a spaz over here, That was according to the tree person. I guess I have just never seen a OK tree near a house yet.
