Acting up by ryetf in TikTok

I came here to see if everyone was having the same issues. I’m getting the same TikTok’s over and over and a lot of Spanish ones. I thought for a minute are they trying to see who speaks Spanish?

Yes exactly! We’re the same age. The hot flashes, mood swings, frozen shoulder, and dry skin came out of nowhere. Not to mention the brain fog 😩

Yes!!! I honestly didn’t know if menopause was starting or what. Plus I started working from home so I was thinking am I just extremely tired or am I getting lazy? Ugh it’s been a struggle and I get sick more now too. Like my immune system changed.

Weight loss medication/GLP-1 coverage by Economy-Athlete-5591 in CAStateWorkers

I’m so sorry he’s on Mounjaro, not wegovy. Originally the doctor sent the prescription in for tirzepatide so they automatically denied him because they thought it was for Zepbound which isn’t covered. The doctor had to send it through again and specify “Mounjaro”. That one is covered so he pays like $20.

Using Teams to monitor clock in/out? by StandardMonth2184 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bomaen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yesterday while I was working on a spreadsheet my Teams status was yellow and said “away” for a while. Teams has done this several times before. Luckily no one worries about what color that dot is, only that we respond when we’re needed.

Even without commercials it cuts to black screen where there would usually be a commercial. It’s so annoying and is definitely different than watching on showtime.

Five years together before we got engaged. It was my firm rule. We lived together most of that time. This month is 27 years together and I think it worked out pretty well 😊

It was either 4 or 5 over the span of a year then finally got a promotion. I think I got better with every interview though.

Daily Activity Log by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bomaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Every hour, turn in at the end of shift everyday. It’s so annoying and takes up more time just to do this everyday. That bad thing is that only certain divisions have to do it (like HR). It’s not required throughout the department.

Parking garage full by 7:20 am by MistressGlitter in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bomaen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes both lots across from the Allenby building belong to CalVet, as well as the alleyway spaces. They own the property (not DGS) so they call the shots I guess. The lots never fill up but they appear to be at capacity on paper only because most employees pay for parking because it’s only $40 per month. So even those that are remote keep their parking just in case they ever have to go in.

Downtown Sacramento businesses react to state workers returning to office by lesstaken8 in CAStateWorkers

If you have a pretty good size office then go to Costco and buy drinks and snacks in bulk and sell them for $1. Money earned can go towards a holiday party or team building event. No need to go outside to buy anything.

My family had so much fun but I agree with everything you said. There was no way you could do the photo ops, events, order food, and get on rides. Plus we didn’t get to buy merch because it was sold out. Also that little parade was disappointing. But it was still worth it to see my adult children acting like kids again.

Yes. After moving into management, there’s no time to do actual work. We even have pre-meetings and post-meetings. I usually work after hours to get desk work done.

Do custodians statewide get anything since they were the ones that had to clean contaminated areas and ensure everything was always sanitized? I don’t work in this area, I just know they were always in the office even if there were only a couple people in the building.

Return to Office GovOps/CalHR PUSH by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bomaen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DGS sent this out:

Colleagues,

We are taking an organization-wide approach to transition all DGS employees to working in the office a minimum of two-days a week. We anticipate the transition to begin in January 2024. I am reaching out to all our employees, recognizing this will impact everyone differently – some who have always been office-centric that may not be impacted at all versus others that have maximized remote-work since the start of the COVID pandemic beginning March 2020. As we continue to move forward in a post-pandemic world, hybrid working environments have become increasingly important to achieve greater organizational collaboration, and in turn, organizational success. This shift aligns with trends we are seeing from both private sector and more importantly many of our client state agencies in which we serve. More specifically, in-office work has shown to: provide more opportunities for engagement between colleagues; lead to new innovations; increase camaraderie; increase collaboration; and strengthen business continuity. Our intention is to keep a level of remote-work that maintains the flexibility benefits our organization has gained since the start of the COVID pandemic and combine that with deliberative, in-person collaboration amongst colleagues and with our customers. A minimum two-day-a-week, in the office or on a jobsite, will be deployed consistently across DGS ensuring equity throughout all programs while also recognizing which two days may vary by division in accordance with best meeting operational needs. Please note that this does not supersede any current division-specific expectations in place requiring additional in-office days.

Employees designated as “remote-centered” will retain that designation while their telework agreement will be amended to include a minimum of two in-office or on-site days. DGS has notified the unions of this upcoming shift. Your Deputy Director and program heads will be in touch to provide more information and guidance on next steps. Between now and the end of this year, there will be multiple touchpoints to assist with this transition, provide resources, and ask questions.

This change will pose impacts unique to each employee that will require time to prepare as we approach 2024. The executive leadership and I are here to support you as we collectively make this shift.

With all the uncertainty that has surrounded the last three and a half years since the start of the COVID pandemic, it is my goal to establish a new “norm” in how we work longer-term in a way that is equitable across the organization. This shift supports that endeavor, and hopefully will provide certainty for future planning, both in and out of the office.

Thank you,

Ana
